No. 5 of 4-Star Select Hotels in Miyagi Prefecture
"If you've stayed at many Japanese onsen hotels, you'll find this one to be a bit rough around the edges in various aspects, and lacking in comparison. Of course, the price isn't too high, but I might prefer to spend a little more for a better stay. The buffet restaurant isn't very good, and there are a few really disappointing dishes."
"The shabu-shabu dinner was satisfying, with a good selection and a generous portion. They also made a separate bowl of porridge for my elderly father, which was very helpful. Everything at the breakfast buffet was delicious.
The room was also very clean and comfortable, with a reclining chair so we could relax. The only downside was that the window was dirty, which made it difficult to see the view.
It was great that there were so many services that could be enjoyed by everyone, from small children to the elderly."
"The ryokan location is excellent. My room has a huge picture window facing east. I can see the famous bay with its many islands, including the Fukuura island (福浦𡷊), in the morning with wonderful sun rise view. The Japanese breakfasts were excellent especially the one on our second day… fresh grilled fish, etc.. The Kaiseki dinners for both nights were wonderful with fresh grilled fish and high grade wagyu beef plus oyster cooked to perfection. The Onsens on the other hand are just Okay. However with the view of Fukuura island and its red bridge … nice."
"Nice traditional Japanese hotel. The room was conveniently located on the first floor.
The only things to keep in mind there as a foreigner (very broken English at best). Using a translation device or app in your phone is essential for communication. The room we stayed did not have a private shower. If a shower is needed it will be in a communal shower area. The room does have a toilet and sink though."
"We had a room with a balcony facing the ocean, and were able to spend a relaxing time looking out at Matsushima.
Everyone who served us was very polite and kind.
The room was clean and quiet.
We chose a plan that only included breakfast, intending to eat dinner at a nearby restaurant, but the buffet-style food included many dishes unique to Matsushima, and everything was delicious, so we wished we had eaten dinner here as well!
We recommend it!"
"In the hotel on the mountain, it feels safer, you can see the sea view, dinner is booked in a lunch box type, because it was still an epidemic before, so I chose this, but breakfast is eaten in the restaurant, breakfast is very rich after eating, I feel that dinner will be great if I choose to eat in the restaurant, because breakfast is very good. Overall, the food in this room is very good."
"The staff were nice and have also tried to speak English. I recommend a little Japanese knowledge, however.
The highlight of the room is the balcony, which has not only a perfect view of the bathroom, but also a bathroom with water of a hot source.
The room has only futons, sleeping on the side is therefore uncomfortable. The toilet is in an extra room that was too small to me. Some killing in and outside the room are quite small, so big people have to book."
"We thought we'd stop by a hot spring on our way back from visiting our children (Ofunato City), so we stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights, and were very grateful for our hospitality. The food was delicious and we were very impressed.
The tatami mats were nice and clean, but if they could have done a little more to fix the cracks in the bathroom,
I think the service would have been more comprehensive.
It's close to the station and tourist attractions, so we usually use the car,
but we didn't feel inconvenienced by the train.
Although we had a great time,
as hot spring lovers, we were really disappointed that there was no open-air bath.
While sightseeing, we were worried about other hotels, wondering if this hotel had an open-air bath.
I'm sorry.
The quality of the food and hot springs was impeccable, so if they could have posted online that the open-air bath was unavailable but offered these services,
we would have enjoyed it even more.
Thank you for your hospitality.
We'd definitely like to visit again once the open-air bath is fixed!"
"After checking in at 15:00, the rice was the earliest time in the three-part system until 17:00, so I took a walk in the building and then drank alcohol in the lounge near the front desk. Since it is only sake, juice, and stick ice cream, there is nothing to pick up, and you can buy dry food at the shop right next to it. The type of sake was red and white of Chilean wine, server integrated draft beer, black highball and lemon sour. Since the time of rice is approaching, I moved to the venue on the 3rd floor and had a buffet-style meal, so I felt like taking what I liked and eating it. There was an all-you-can-drink alcohol for an extra charge, but the content was not enough for sake lovers, so I drank soft drinks without charging. Also, it seemed that the buffet could be upgraded to crab and ISE shrimp at the reception until 16:00 at the front desk. Since I went to the Christmas season, I was grateful for the service that took a commemorative photo of Santa's hat and reindeer's tsuno. The hot spring was built next to the elevator on the first floor, and this time the women's bath was built in front of the aisle, with a large communal bath, a sauna, and an open-air bath (upper and lower structures). The shampoo in the bath was very foamy, so I pushed it very much. It may be better to bring something by yourself. The room was a low single type bed room in the tatami room and the view was great because it was on the 4th floor. However, it was a pity that there was dust in some parts that were not cleaned a little. Is there only karaoke and table tennis that seem to be interesting in the hall? Both of them are reserved for time because the reception paper is nearby, so it was a flow of reservations considering the schedule."
