"The ryokan location is excellent. My room has a huge picture window facing east. I can see the famous bay with its many islands, including the Fukuura island (福浦𡷊), in the morning with wonderful sun rise view. The Japanese breakfasts were excellent especially the one on our second day… fresh grilled fish, etc.. The Kaiseki dinners for both nights were wonderful with fresh grilled fish and high grade wagyu beef plus oyster cooked to perfection. The Onsens on the other hand are just Okay. However with the view of Fukuura island and its red bridge … nice."

Also, preserving Japan's cultural vibe was cool, but having showers in the rooms and lifts would've made it way easier to get around, esp with luggage.
