The Balladeer Hotel, Mount Airy, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel ★★★★

"Pros: This is a beautiful new hotel with outstanding decor. It is an old factory that was totally renovated. It has beautiful tile in the shower and a very nice make-up desk. It has a coffee area where you can get several different brews as well as tea. Since the restaurant wasn't opened yet, you could order a $10 breakfast package to be delivered to the room or picked up at the front desk. Cons: It is difficult to know which entry way to use as neither has a good area to unload and load your luggage. The area in the back by the parking lot has no cover to protect you if it is raining. And they don't have any valet service. There are a few problems such as the barn door for the bathroom didn't close completely, there was no fan in the bathroom, the beds are very high for short people to climb into, and the a/c vent is only on one side of the room, over one bed. This caused us to be either very cold or too warm. Our shower leaked, which we reported to the front desk upon leaving. Since it is a brand new hotel, there are some 'bugs' to be worked out. But it is decorated with great style and sophistication. I hope it can be successful in this little town of Mt. Airy."
