Planet Hollywood Costa Rica by Royalton, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort ★★★★★

"Just returned from our stay at the Planet Hollywood and have mixed feelings.  There were some excellent aspects… but also a few areas for improvement!  Let’s start with the good stuff: Edu (bartender at the lobby bar) was a STAR.  Trust him to make your drinks, just tell him the flavor or preference for liquor) and he will spin you up something completely magical!! We LOVED spending our nights sitting at the bar watching Edu make peoples evenings.  We also loved the included watersports like paddleboarding and kayaking ( unfortunately the big water tricycle was out of order).  The Fuel Coffee bar is also a fabulous addition and great place to escape the heat for a cold coffee.  Now, the negatives - the front desk staff was pretty subpar and didn’t seem to communicate very well - one girl was actually very rude when I was trying to sort out a room situation and I wish I got her name.  The pool drinks are SO bad.  Not sure what type of bottom shelf alcohol they use at pool bar, but we tried so many different drinks and they were all disgusting.  The only thing somewhat drinkable was the Mojito.  I ended up switching to non-alcoholic drinks after day 1 and they were much better at the pool.  Did my real drinking at the lobby bar with Edu in the evenings.  Otherwise, the room was clean - resort was nice and entertainment was entertaining.  The food was decent but the buffet was SO hot and humid without any air conditioning. Overall, this was far from the best all inclusive experience I’ve had, but, we still made the most of it and had a nice time."

"It would take long time to write everything that is great about this property, the amenities and the wonderful staff. What I can say is that we have been lucky to stay in some of the best resorts in the world and Nekajui is at the top. Every--and I mean EVERY--detail of this property is perfectly thought out and beautiful. The beach and pools are amazing. Then the spa and gym is high end and great. The rooms are spectacular! From the furniture to the lighting to the Japanese toilet, it's luxury that few ever get to experience. The in-room hair dryer is a full equipped Dyson! All the restaurants were excellent. The breakfast is so good, the challenge is not to overeat. The staff are universally warm and welcoming. These kind people are proud of their country and their hotel and its shows. They will do anything for you. The pictures speak for themselves. This is one of the best luxury hotels in the world and it shows. If you can swing it, stay here. You will be happy and thankful, sipping a cold Imperial in your personal plunge pool while hummingbirds, parrots and monkeys go about their business in the pristine landscape that surrounds you."

"Amazing hotel with excellent service. Our guide Samuel made our stay fun and relaxing, and really helped us enjoy everything the property has to offer. The beach is quiet and feels wonderfully private—you can even see fish swimming in the ocean right beside you. There are plenty of activities, and breakfast at Café Rincón was outstanding. The food is incredibly fresh, and the spa has everything you could possibly want. Highly recommended!"
