Yumotokan
"Yumotokan was our first stay at an onsen and first trip to Otsu and Lake Biwa. It blew us away at how amazing and wonderful everything was. We took a local train from Kyoto Station to Ogotoonsen Station. The views of the mountains on one side and the lake on the other were stunning and the shuttle service from Ogotoonsen Station to Yumotokan was much appreciated. We reserved two of the Kotone suites with their own private baths attached to our rooms for one night and we were not disappointed. The rooms included breakfast, dinner, and a hour later check-out time with the reservation. The staff were very kind and accommodating, helping us with whatever we needed (so glad we asked for help with the yukata! It became a cute memory for us). The rooms were comfortably spacious with a gracious amount of amenities and the attached private onsen baths were incredibly healing. We utilized them as many times as was healthy. Both the breakfast buffet and course dinner were amazingly delicious and something that'll be on our minds for awhile. Even our check-out was stress free and we were able to buy souvenirs from a little shop they had inside the lobby. I wish I knew what shampoo and treatment they use or where I can purchase it because it left our hair super soft and silky smooth, nothing like what we use at home. Our stay was amazing and we would highly recommend Yumotokan. We'll definitely visit again on our next trip to Japan, hopefully for a couple more nights!"
Toyoko Inn Kyoto Biwako Otsu
"The staffs were very nice, the room was not big, but everything just was arranged correctly and comfortable. In the morning, there was nice breakfast."
Biwako Hotel
"I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the train station, which made getting around very convenient. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, with good quality and variety. The highlight for me was the hotel view — absolutely beautiful and very relaxing. Overall, the stay exceeded my expectations and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!!!!💕💕💕🎀🇯🇵🙌🏽"
Biwako Ryokusuitei
"Stepping out of JR Ogoto-onsen Station, I spotted the shuttle bus across the street, waiting at a red light. I quickly waved, and to my surprise, the driver motioned for me to wait, then circled back to pick us up – incredibly grateful for that! 😊 The drive to the hotel took about 5 minutes. Upon entering the lobby, I noticed a slightly odd smell. The staff asked us to take a seat in the lobby. After checking us in and confirming our meal times, they showed us to our room. There was no odd smell in the room or restaurant areas. They even helped with our luggage – truly excellent service. The private hot spring in the room had continuously flowing water; I'm not sure if it's recirculated, but you can see Lake Biwa from there. The summer dinner cuisine was delicious! 😋"
Yuzanso
"Service is good, facility is a bit outdated. Dinner is nice but breakfast is not outstanding."
Le Lac Hotel Otsu Ishiyama
"The hotel is near Ishiyama Station. It only takes two minutes to get to the station. It is particularly convenient to go to Mount Hiei and Ishiyama Temple. The hotel service is very good and the hygiene is absolutely clean."
BIWAKO HANAKAIDO
"This is my second time, I took my daughter to their open air onsen room and she loves it!! I really enjoyed the time with her in the quiet place so we could truly relax together!!"
SUPER HOTEL Otsu Station
"Cheap and clean, and very close to the station."

J-Hoppers Lake Biwa Guesthouse
"A bit far from the station, but the environment is good."
Biwa-Lakeside Cottage B B Dylan
"Note that for double bed rooms, the price difference between single occupancy and double occupancy is quite large, but the others are all very good."
KINOTOMI OMIMAIKO - Self Check-In Only
"Noisy at night, the sound of crow and tram is louder and not very soundproof The health is great, the house is also very new, very close to the lake The nearest supermarket nearby has to drive for 20 minutes, the convenience store is about 10 minutes drive, and the electric oven is not easy to wash. If you want to barbecue, it feels not very convenient."
Koke Musu Inn
"A lovely place, unique. Very interesting decor. Well organised with a lot packed in to a small space. Bar and pool room, plus a dining area. Room was very well thought out, with everything needed. All was spotlessly clean and we were cooked a very tasty omi beef meal for dinner. The location was good and the owners extremely kind and helpful. An unusual and interesting hotel, well worth a visit. Highly recommended."
View Lodge Biwa
"There is no toilet or bathroom in the room, only a washbasin. For Japanese people, it is very common to have such old family-style hostels without toilet and bathroom facilities in the room, but it will be very unusual for foreign tourists. To take a shower and go to the toilet, you have to go to the shared toilet outside the room. It is very inconvenient and scary to leave the room alone to go to the toilet in the middle of the night."
Iza Oumimaiko
Ayaha Lakeside Hotel
"Shadian is very clean, has a view of Lake Bipa, and has a hot spring♨️. You can take a dip when you return to Shadian after playing all day. It is very comfortable. There is also free parking for the convenience of self-driving travelers."
APA Hotel Biwako Seta Ekimae
"Very close to the seta station and it worth the price."
Ogoto Onsen Yunoyado Komolebi
"A very clean and cozy ryokan. We visited the onsen with our family for the first time and loved it. They provide kimonos and all the necessary bath amenities. Dinner is included with your stay—a dozen different plates and bowls, all delicious, and breakfast is also traditional. There's a shuttle to the station, but we also walked to the hotel from the station to explore the area."
Hotel Koo Otsuhyakucho
"Best: design, facilities, privacy Staying at Hotel Koo’s KOUJIYA was such a treat! The place is like a dream – elegant, cozy, and those designer furniture pieces are everything. The lighting? Super hygge, giving off the warmest vibes. This Machiya suite is a total surprise package. From the outside, it's low-key and so unassuming but inside, it's a luxury haven. The kitchen is a personal favorite, connected to the dining area where you can see the mini garden. Actually you can view the garden from the bedroom and bathroom too, thanks to some clever glass magic. Amazing design!! I think it’s perfect for couples/duo. It's not just a hotel; it feels like a real home, and the local vibe of the neighborhood is the cherry on top. Can't wait to be back and try out the other machiya suites."
Hotel Luna Otsu (Adult Only)
"The room is spacious and nice"
Ofuro Café New Biwako Hotel
"The location is along Route 1, so it's easy to find. However, the convenience store (Sebuile) is a little far on foot. You can go to the Ofuro Cafe next door from the hotel without having to go outside. Ofuro Cafe's popular play (Ohatsu) was really exciting. Recommended! The room is auto-locked and uses a card key, so the toilet and sink are outside the room (shared) so if you don't bring your card, you'll be locked out, so be careful! When I returned, the TV was turned off, which was quite annoying. Is it obvious? The rest is quiet and full. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of Japanese and Western options."
Holiday Afternoon
"I like it"
Kyo Oumi
"In a room with an open-air bath, there are large Japanese room and small room, and two rooms, and stay with adult 4 people and children 1 names. The breakfast buffet is also rich in variety, and the price is not written, but I stayed quite cheap. There is a convenience store and I am very satisfied because the customer service was good."
Ogotoso
"The soundproofing was a bit poor, and the fact that the toilet wasn't in the room was a little inconvenient, but the staff were incredibly helpful. I'd definitely come back if I had the chance. Waking up this morning to see snow falling was fantastic!"
