Nestled in a quiet embassy district, the restored teak mansion, once the home of a British colonial governor, immediately impresses with its graceful architecture and tranquil gardens. Approaching through leafy pathways and lotus ponds, guests are welcomed into an oasis that feels far removed from the bustle of downtown Yangon. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the building’s heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements. Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era. What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. First of all, I'd like to thank all the staff for their kindness. I was worried because it was an old building, but I had a very comfortable stay for two nights. I'm leaving with fond memories of my first visit to Myanmar. I will definitely visit again next time I'm in Yangon. I hope this hotel continues to thrive. Thank you.

The hotel is clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast spread is decent and since the breakfast hall is on the top floor, the view is nice. Location is good with convenience shop and a small mall within reasonable walking distance. Highly recommended for those looking for a place with value for money.

The other is good, but the toilet is not very good.

Variety Breakfast. Variety restaurant menu. Very helpful restaurant service people. Good room service.

The hostel is located in the old town, not far from the central train station. The lobby is on the first floor, and the rooms are on the second and third floors. Bed linens are changed after each guest. There's a table in the room, but the window is poorly maintained and can't be closed. A helpful young man at the front desk speaks some Chinese. The other staff only speak the local language, so communication was difficult. When I checked out, the front desk asked me to pay for the last night's stay, even though I had already paid. They said they hadn't received it, but thankfully the young man who speaks some Chinese came out and confirmed that I had paid in full.

I spent 7 days at this hotel. Here are the main pros and cons: Pros: — Breakfast included (buffet style). — Two bottles of water were provided daily. — A quiet and peaceful hotel. — Friendly and polite staff. Cons: — Shared shower (but this was stated upfront). — The breakfast was almost the same every day and not always replenished. It's best to go around 7:30–8:00 AM, otherwise, the food might run out. — The shared bathroom and toilet didn't look very clean. — The shower water was salty for some reason. Overall, it's a ”no-frills, get-the-job-done” type of place. For Myanmar, this is a perfectly decent budget option. You can comfortably stay for a few days.

The Hotel location is very convenient. Easy to go from one place to another. The cleanliness,service and price are fair. But the hotel location is wrong at Google maps and it's so troublesome to take grab when we choose pick up point or destination.

I stayed for the second time, the room was very large and very close to the Shwedagon Pagoda, and I walked across the road. I eat a lot of barbecue kings at the door, a bit old, most of them are Japanese
