Welcome again! Time for another round of my thoughts on the Sea Horse Resort! We stayed at the Coronado Suites within the Sea Horse Resort, occupying room #6. It was a family trip with me, my mom, and our beloved puppy, Petey. Our stay lasted for two delightful days. On our departure day, I made a stop at the San Clemente pier, which stretches out impressively over the ocean, offering breathtaking views. That wraps up my reflections! Coming soon: My Rant on Knott's Berry Farm. Catch you later!

The Inn is adequate. The bed is comfortable. Everything was clean and well maintained. The small kitchen was clean and convenient. The WiFi is excellent. Good choices for cable TV. The furniture is not particularly comfortable. The downside and the reason we will not go back (this was our second stay in 4 years) is the rude woman at the reception desk. The Inn has a policy of deactivating your room key at 10 am on the day of check out, which they do not inform you of. We had to go back to leave a tip, turn on the dishwasher, and get the last bag. The cleaner at the far end of the balcony was not authorized to let us back in. We went to the office and a young man activated the key, no questions asked. After a couple of minutes to wrap up our exit, we went back to turn in the keys. We told a woman at the reception that it seemed rather small to deactivate the key on the top of the hour, which we had never experienced before in 50 years of travelling. She waived a paper at us and said we had signed it and therefore knew that the check out was 10 am. We asked if there is a grace period. She said there was, although nobody told us. This was the only interaction we had with staff other than the initial check in. Our experience is that this kind of authoritarian rudeness means there are other problems at the site. So we will not be returning. If you go, and you need a couple of extra minutes at check out, simply don't close your door and save yourself getting the paper waived in your face. Restaurants nearby that we liked: Fig, MRK, Hot N Chili (Indian), and the Riviera which is in the resort and we ate there twice. Definitely make the trip to Laguna Beach and eat at the Lumberyard on the main street, Forest Avenue, after you've enjoyed the beautiful shops. Make a reservation to visit the Hortense Miller house and garden in Laguna Beach for a refreshing and unique experience.

We stayed four nights and had a wonderful time! Such a beautiful view of the ocean and the pier from the balcony. Great location to walk out and enjoy the beautiful San Clemente Beach. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable. We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to coming again.

GGuest UserA Lil bit of Heaven indeed. An absolute gem of a hotel located in beautiful San Clemente with a very peaceful stay for 4 months making me want to even come here for a vacation in future when Colorado gets too hot or cold. The beach walks and bluff trails along the azure ocean coast and wide open ocean sky, were only a stone's throw away from the Holiday Inn Express San Clemente, were very pleasant and pleasing indeed, a real escape from the bustling world, with a shopping mall and excellent restaurants nearby make The Holiday Inn Express at San Clemente one of the best locations in the world I have stayed at. The staff, including Guzy, James, Jenny, Jack, Patrik, Kat, Frank, Rosa, Guadaloupe, Patty, and Rudy, are the most caring heart-felt people and are a true asset to the establishment, their friendly, hospitable and welcoming spirit made the stay here a joy. The location of the hotel is very, very convenient and close to the nuclear site I work at; the room was very comfortable and modern, with desks to work at in conjunction with excellent high-speed internet even when the hotel was fully booked, made this a productive office away for me. The bed was firm, and I really rested well and had the deepest refreshing many nights of slumbering sleep, with a revitalizing clean, modern shower and bathroom meticulously cleaned and prepared every day back to the hotels very high standard, the housekeeping staff Guadaloupe, Patty, and Juan are the best I have ever experienced in my many select extended hotel working stays around the civilized worlds hotels. I enjoyed waking to the sunrise, clear skies and the silhouetted palm trees, and the vibrant colours and fragrances of the bougainvillea were all like a gorgeous dream you do not want to wake up from. A charming and enjoyable working hotel indeed, I will always want to come back for more of this perfect experience and loving environment. The whole experience is like living in a cartoon of a very real high standard. A perfect hotel living experience. Thank you very much indeed.
GGuest UserCustomer service is lacking in some of your employees. Colin, specifically, the front desk person should NOR be speaking to guests. When I called the front desk from my room asking for more pillows and blankets. Why? Because there were 4 people in the room, and the sofa bed is not the most comfortable. Colin answers the phone and said in an unfriendly tone: ”Let me see what I can do.”. That is not the way to talk to a customer. I asked him: ”What do you mean?”. He said: ”Some of the guests may have already taken all of the blankets and pillows.” Well, this is a hotel. I was under the assumption that hotels have extra pillows and blankets. Anyway, what a stupid way to answer! He could have said: ”No problem. I will have someone deliver those to you right away.” The nice gentleman who showed up from housekeeping came back to our room 4 times. He was the sweetest. I wish I remembered his name. He got us blankets, and then pillows. He even reminded me that we had pillows and blankets in the bag on the top of the closet. I also forgot that I needed an additional bath towel because there were only 3 in the bathroom. Once again, housekeeping gave me an extra towel. He was very customer-oriented UNLIKE Colin (from the front desk) who should not be working in this industry which entails being customer-focused. Maria was very good. She even helped me book the room for 7/16/2022 when I had a problem booking it online on 7/11/2022. She stayed on the phone with me until I got the booking confirmed. I had the opportunity to meet Maria when we checked out. She is very pleasant. On the other hand, Colin, should be reprimanded for bad customer service skills. He needs to GO. He also doesn't explain anything upon check-in. He rushed everything. He just handed me the key and asks me to refer to the card in the back of the key holder. He has no warmth.
Overall hotel is very nice . Room was very comfortable and well decorated. I stayed on the 2nd floor . View is the freeway but you also see the ocean from the 2nd floor . My issue was I emailed the hotel a week before asking for an early check in due to a wedding I was attending . Wedding started at 3pm . I asked to be checked in at 130 and the front desk (male, early 30s) told me to avoid a bigger charge to wait til 2pm . I was confused , but waited in the parking lot (4 cars total in the lot on a Friday ) til 2pm . I checked in and was charged $30 for a early check in lol I asked what the difference was if I would’ve checked in at 1:30 and it would’ve been even more of a early check in fee ! Disappointed due to the conversation I had in the email with the staff never mentioned an early check in fee . I will never stay here again , I’m a Hilton Diamond member and that weekend would’ve been $400 a night . No thanks , no hotel is worth that much for one night . Instead ended up paying $231 for a Friday night in May due to the early check in .
My reservation was a Spa King Balcony. I got to my room & no Spa? Went back to the office & he offered an upgrade, but no balcony (I like the salty ocean air since it is near the beach)? I ended up negotiating & got an extra 3-hours of stay to compensate & no down deposit. The room had ants in the bathroom shower creeping out the walls & by the desk. There is not small table where most room would have it, so I ate the desk that had ants on it. The mounted conditioner bottle was broken in the shower. Everything else was okay. I paid $125 total through a special ******* deal & got what I paid for, an average room.
GGuest UserThis hotel was supposed to have a really awesome breakfast bar with pancakes, cereal, sausage, etc. Since it was covid it was just a bag with a breakfast sandwich to put in the microwave, an apple, a granola bar and muffin. Pretty lame! Also the jacuzzi chemicals must have been off because it left my skin super irritated - dry and itchy which is a sign of improper chemical balance. Also the first night the jacuzzi was hot, the next day it was just a bit warmer than the pool. I asked the front desk and they said, ”if no one is using it they don't turn on the heat.” Well how are they supposed to know when and if someone will use it? It should be ready to go all the time! They said if you call ahead they will turn it on. Also they charged a fee of $1 per night per room for a ”safe fee” (we had 2 rooms X 3 nights). Super unnecessary and just fee padding if you ask me! When asked to remove it they told me that it was ”too late” and it was part of my booking via bookings dot com. One light fixture was broken in the room and my son's bedside lights were broken. Also the phone charger next to the bed was broken. For the price we paid, I expected everything to be in good condition. As far as decor, whoever thought that crown molding should be used to make a ”curtain valance” had zero decorating skills. They also could have done without the crown molding and ”pillar” type thing attached to the pony wall as that was pretty cheesy. Just stick to a basic crown molding around the ceiling. Also the shower was really weird in terms of adjusting the water temp and the shower head needs to be higher. I'm almost 6” tall and not everyone is a damn shorty! Also, on the last day, housekeeping did not make up the room which meant a pile up of dirty towels, no clean towels and the trash overflowing. The location is ok but about 1.5 to 2 miles on the freeway from ”town”.
