Beachcomber Inn Picton
8.7 (111 reviews)

Beachcomber Inn Picton ★★★★

📍 27 Waikawa Road, Picton

"Since we were not in a rush, we decided to stay in Picton for one night before leaving. The town is not big but very clean and beautiful. I booked the hotel late, so there were not many options. I chose Beachcomber because the reviews were good. From the train station, follow the navigation and you will arrive in a short time. The front desk staff is a lady, very friendly. We were supposed to check in after 2 pm, but we were arranged in advance. The door is retro and uses a key, which is quite nostalgic. The room is very clean and better than I expected. You can see the beach not far away from the balcony. The distance is not far or near, and you will not be noisy by the bar at night. If the weather is good, sit on the small balcony and chat with the neighbors. It is quite convenient to go to the beach, restaurant and boat."

Jasmine Court Motel
8.5 (112 reviews)

Jasmine Court Motel ★★★★

"The hotel staff was friendly and allowed us to park the car until the afternoon. It is a 2-minute walk from the Time Center and close to the pier. The starting point for many activities."

"beautiful and creative decorations here attract me most! The theme is kinda marine and sea related, that's why it is called "atlantis". Friendly staff and kind hearted notice make me enjoy my stay here. Plus when i leave in the early morning, the cat was still sleeping sound, lovely."

"The Motel has a kitchen with everything you need for cooking and a great social area (pool table, ping pong, whirlpool, ...). The room is quite small, has no AC and the bed is very squeaky, but everything was clean."

Escape to Picton Boutique Hotel Hotels in Picton

Escape to Picton Boutique Hotel

"Well worth a stay, so bright, clean and the spa bath is in a whole other level. This place doesn’t have a lift however there is one apartment downstairs. Our room was up a few stairs. The configuration of the room has been designed with the traveller in mind. Upon a rival there a few mini tea cakes, as well as two bottles of sparkling water in the fridge, these sorts of touches keep you returning. A gorgeous comfortable warm dressing gowns, another thoughtful touch. The bedroom is separated from the front room by a wall, see this design a lot overseas. It was quite so peaceful, and still in the CBD so in walking distance to cafes, shops excursions. There is also a wee restaurant downstairs, we didn’t get a chance to try it but there is always next time. Highly recommend X10"

The Gables B&B Hotels in Picton

The Gables B&B

"We stayed at The Gables for 2 nights before taking the ferry to the North Island Unfortunately after 2 weeks in the South Island this was the very worst accommodation of our trip so far. From the moment we arrived We and another couple of guests turned up at the same time shortly after 3 pm There was no one at the house and after a couple of phone calls (one incohérent) somebody eventually let us in to our rooms We had booked one of the cottages at the back which was probably our biggest mistake The cottage was shabby, kitchen cupboard in need of work, dirty (eg coffee granules all over one shelf), the kitchen was very poorly equipped (eg empty box of tea bags and no teaspoons), flies everywhere with no fly screen so we were unable to open the windows and as there is no air conditioning the room was very hot. Absolutely nowhere to put a suitcase other than the floor or sofa. Uncomfortable bed and thin pillows. The shower is extremely basic and a little grimy. Some very basic products just placed on the floor. No hooks either. There is a small untended garden at the front of the cottage. There are old bits of building equipment eg wheelbarrows strewn around. Parking could have been an issue as the details say only free on street parking is available We and the other couple parked at the back of the house where there was plenty of room to park although we had read that the host had previously objected to guests parking there. The wifi wouldn’t work for the first 24 hours although this was available on our second night The whole house, cottages, and outside areas are run down and very much past their best. The house is now bright blue and not as in the picture. Breakfast was pretty dismal. Squash not orange juice, ordinary sliced bread covered with a bit of cling film, various pots of vegemite, jam plonked in middle of the table. Everything self service. A couple of pain au chocolat were provided but no offer of an alternative. No hosting is going on at this unloved B and B. It is very much in need of a host who cares about the guests and what is required to run a good B and B Apparently the owner also runs the Escape to Picton boutique hotel and restaurant.Good luck"

"It's about a 10 minute walk from the ferry and intercity bus stops, but the owner is very kind and welcoming. And best of all, the free breakfast. This price is a bargain, including the free breakfast."

"Location was great, and easily walkable from the Interislander Ferry Terminal and Intercity bus stop. The rooms were also tidy and well equipped with necessary amenities, only gripe was with the kettle which looks old and has some stains around the bottom."

"A very nice place, very clean and tidy. I especially loved the kitchen and shower room. The only downside is that there are often trains passing by behind it, so it's not particularly quiet. But overall, it's fantastic."
