Azao Resort & Spa
"The hotel is clean and well-maintained. Suitable for families looking to relax, as it's far from everything and there are no shops nearby. However, beware of the housekeeping staff who steal money; the safe is inaccessible for protecting personal belongings! The hotel manager is very unhelpful in the face of this problem. The hotel is on the beach, but swimming isn't possible as the beach isn't very nice."
Pongwe Bay Resort
"****** HOTEL STAFF & GENRAL MANAGER (Marcus) I am writing to express my disappointment with the poor customer service and overall experience. There were numerous aunts and insects on the premises and bed sheets which made our stay uncomfortable and unpleasant and wanted to leave hotel earlier in which they confirmed to us that refund for the rest of the stay will be completed upon check out .however later we received email that no refund The experience was extremely frustrating as as When we tried to communicate with the General manager (Marcus), which eventually learned that he is so ****** against arabs; he yelled at us and refused to make any refund as promised upon check out ! And hung up the phone as soon as he found out we were Arab as his behavior became blatantly disrespectful. He began to mock us by using Arabic words in a rude and sarcastic manner, as if he was making fun of our identity and culture. This conduct was not only unprofessional but also deeply discriminatory. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone. The lack of hygiene and professionalism, poor service, and disregard and for customer satisfaction were beyond disappointing."
The Island Pongwe - Adult Only
"We stayed here 3 nights, and could agree that this is the nicest hotel we’ve been to! The atmosphere was so relaxing, and the staff was amazing. We had the full board, and the food was delicious! Lobster, crab, beef, tuna - three courses for every meal Also, the hotel offers activities such as local fishing and rent out snorkeling and paddle gear for free. We also did a massage, a romantic dinner and enjoyed our breakfast in the bungalow. Nothing negative to say, really recommend this place!"
Karibu Beach Resort
"No smiles or warm welcome upon arrival. Treated more as an inconvenience from the start. Extremely disappointed with this stay. I splurged on an ocean view. Only to have a vendor directly below my balcony on the property providing no privacy whatsoever - and additional noise. There were holes in the mosquito nets, providing little protection. The open shower is on a decline that runs water into the vanity and toilet area. The floors are light in color so you cannot see it until you exit the shower and slip. I used every tail in the room to clean up the water. This was communicated with the staff with no apology, and worse - no offer to provide a different room. There were plenty as this was low season. They were up front about "beach boy" encounters But not to the extent I experienced. I was literally corralled buy so many that I could barely make it back to the hotel. There is zero security control over this on the property. There is construction going on on both sides of this property. BIG hotels going up with constant noise until sundown. I could not get out of this place fast enough. I booked and paid for 3 nights. I stayed only one. There was not one penny of reimbursement for any and convenience at all. They do have a non-refundable policy that is clearly stated in bold. At the very least, they should have offered a room that was equal to what I thought I was paying for. Unsafe. Uncomfortable. Unfriendly. In no way whatsoever, is this a quaint little resort. Management was unavailable. I left a personal letter at the desk ( loud TV noise coming from the check and desk - sounded like someone was playing a video game. I also emailed management. All communication was ignored. I sincerely hope this review helps someone else moving forward."

Toa Hotel & Spa Zanzibar
"It's inconvenient to travel, too far. Nice environment"
Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort
"The characteristics of this hotel are comfortable rooms and all-inclusive catering that focuses on exquisite originality. However, there are not many limited options for each meal. The waiters are very enthusiastic. Special thanks to Kerui (maybe the spelling is wrong) at the front desk for helping us solve problems with other hotels. Thank you to the hotel for giving us a late check-out…"
Pongwe Beach Hotel
"Location is slightly far from everything, but you get to enjoy the private pristine white beach which was a bonus. Be aware there are few beach boys who will try to promote their packages, which the safety of those packages is uncertain. Better book from a reputable travel agency if you are looking for a day tour or snorkeling. The room itself was comfortable, but there was bird poop on the balcony sunbed when we returned from snorkeling. Nothing much to do at the hotel itself as there were limited activities available. The only entertainment was the cultural dance and it was great though. Breakfast was awesome, our only dissatisfaction was the lack of room service. We understand BBQ dinner will be served at the restaurant, yet not everyone loves BBQ. Consider the hotel location is far from other restaurants, they should offer more dining options including room service. We were exhausted from a day tour and wish to have a quiet dinner in our room but the room service request was rudely rejected. Even if we volunteered to collect the food from the restaurant and return the plates ourselves and they would still charge you extra $50. The lady staff at the restaurant showed impatience attitude and did not bother to serve you. Until we lodged a complaint then they were willing to send the food to our room. Honestly speaking, dinner was mediocre with tiny portion size. It did not worth the price we paid and we felt totally ripped off."
