"This hotel is not to a satisfactory standard to be operating. The rooms smell of sewage, the shower was mouldy, the walls are paper thin to the point you can hear other residents using the toilet, the noise of a guest in the floor above filling the bath was so loud it woke me up, the noise also from the hotel bar and the street was very loud and continued until about 3am making it impossible to sleep, the shutters did not close and there were no curtains so light streamed in from the street all night, there were flies in the juice at breakfast as well as on the fruit, there was no cold milk for cereal and the coffee was poor."

"We had a lovely stay at Hotel Ruas. We arrived soaking wet after walking on the Camino. The receptionist was welcoming and booked us in for dinner that evening. Our room not massive but enough for us to relax, with a hot shower and comfortable bed. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was fixed price less than €20 for 3 courses.. the food was excellent. The breakfast next morning was served in their cafe next door. Note there is a choice but not a self service buffet. Unfortunately due to the weather we didn’t get the opportunity for any sightseeing in this lovely historic town. The hotel is located very centrally inside the old town and it was very easy to re-start our walk the next morning."

"This is a beautiful old building in a lovely, peaceful setting. It seemed a shame there weren't more people there in early May, but it ensured we got the best of attention from the friendly hosts. The bedrooms are fine but the highlight is the lovely, comfortable lounge areas on each floor. The white wine they produce on site is excellent value at ten euros a bottle. So glad we ventured off the beaten track to find it."

"The hotel is located in an old local building, which I later discovered while strolling around was near a former shipyard along the coast, with a small square next door containing a monument to Columbus. This perfectly matched my travel theme of following Columbus and the Age of Exploration. I was very satisfied with the hotel's location. The hotel rooms were rather old and poorly soundproofed. In the middle of the night, my neighbor called me asking me to turn the TV down, even though I wasn't using the TV and had been using a small speaker every night for almost a month. I was surprised to receive a complaint here. The rooms didn't provide any water or coffee, but the atmosphere in the hotel's coffee bar, facing the garden, was quite pleasant. The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of the town's old streets, just a few minutes' walk away. It's also very close to the river for a stroll. Overall, the location of this state-owned hotel is excellent, with constantly changing scenery throughout the hotel grounds, making it perfect for taking photos."

"The photos that accompany the profile of this hotel give a way better impression than actual reality. Hotel Room--couldn't they have thought of a more creative name?--is a very mediocre, somewhat depressing, place to stay in Pontevedra. My wife and I stayed here two nights. The room is sterile. We were promised a outdoor space connected to our room. That promise was fulfilled but our room had the only private outdoor space without a table and chairs. The staff are friendly, at least. You often pay for what you get when it comes to hotels and this is definitely true at Hotel Room. It's affordable but don't arrive with anything but low expectations."
