Botanika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton

📍 Peninsula de Osa, Costado Sureste del aeropuerto. Bahia Cocodrilo Pto Jimenez, Puerto Jimenez
★★★★ 9.1 (60 reviews)

"Very nice resort with high quality equipment. Very nice are also the pool and the pool bar. Super we also found the fitness area. Very large and excellently equipped. We found it not so nice that there was little daylight in our room (standard room in the ground floor) and the restaurant. At breakfast and dinner were not all the options good. The staff at the restaurant was very overloaded at times of impact. Consequently, lack of coordination and long waiting times. However, they were always very friendly. We would always be asked proactively for allergies, but the answer (no wheat) to it was always ignored and not taken into account at any time. A frechness was the breakfast to go, when we had to go before breakfast: a untoasted flavorless toast bread and a apple for say and write 15 USD. That's not possible! What has disturbed us very much is the hotel's client, or at least part of it that is most negative: larger groups of Americans, for holidays is equal to a collective beauty. These groups were always very noisy at the pool and restaurant accordingly. That has made the relaxation partly impossible."

"The Bosque was an absolutely amazing time!!! Every single one of the staff members were so nice and polite and friendly. The location is absolutely incredible; they have a huge expanse of land on the very tip of the Osa peninsula, there is so much to explore within the property and nearby. We genuinely had such an amazing time and I cannot recommend it enough!!!"

"Corcovado Private Villas is an experience from another world—beautiful in every possible way. From the moment you arrive, you can feel that this place is something extraordinary. The property is stunning, the surroundings are magical, and every detail of the architecture blends perfectly with the natural beauty of Corcovado. The breakfast is delicious, fresh, and prepared with great care. It’s the perfect way to start the day, surrounded by nature and peaceful ambiance. What makes the stay even more special is the people—everyone is incredibly kind, warm, and genuinely committed to making your experience unforgettable. The construction and design of the villas are truly beautiful. The pool, the jacuzzi, and the rooms are all designed with elegance and harmony, creating spaces that are both luxurious and deeply connected to the environment around them. Corcovado Private Villas is a precious place—breathtaking, peaceful, and crafted with love and detail. It’s one of those destinations that stays with you long after you leave."

★★★ 9.6 (28 reviews)

"From the moment we arrived we loved our 4 day stay. Greg and Keiko were wonderful, entertaining hosts who made us so welcome. These lodges are uniquely situated on a peninsula overlooking a freshwater lagoon and the Pacific coast. The wildlife literally comes to you and the clever architectural design of its branders, terraces and even its bathrooms helps maximise the sounds and sights of this lovely location. Forget Drakes Bay and push further down into the Osa Penibsula for a truly natural experience…..Oh as a bonus the food and beds are fantastic, never slept better lulled by the ocean’s surf."

Hacienda Río Oro

Hacienda Río Oro

📍 Ruta Nacional Secundaria 245, Puerto Jimenez
★★★ 8.6 (6 reviews)

"At that price, you expect more than just water at the bar. The showers are cold. Admittedly, the place is secluded and the rooms are very nice, but that doesn't justify the prices. Communication with the managers (whom we never met) was difficult, and they kept changing the rates. Finally, the cook is incredibly unfriendly; basically, we made her sweat. On the other hand, the guide they found for us, Jerry, and the intermediary who replaced the owner, Juan, were excellent."

📍 Sendero de Miramar, Puerto Jimenez
★★★ 9.4 (11 reviews)

"We spent four wonderful nights at Maze Lodge, and it was easily one of the highlights of our time in Costa Rica. The property feels like a hidden oasis in the heart of the Osa Peninsula - peaceful, beautifully maintained, and completely immersed in nature. One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the incredible wildlife. Every day we spotted something new right on the property, from colorful birds and monkeys to other fascinating creatures that make this region so special. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle and being surrounded by such biodiversity was truly magical. The atmosphere at the lodge is incredibly tranquil. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying a morning coffee while watching wildlife, or simply listening to the sounds of nature, it felt like the perfect place to slow down and reconnect. I especially loved doing yoga on the outdoor platform surrounded by the jungle. Practicing with fresh air, tropical greenery, and the sounds of nature all around created an unforgettable experience that perfectly captured the spirit of the Osa Peninsula. The location is also fantastic, with easy access to nearby surf spots and the many natural attractions the area has to offer. After a day of adventure, returning to the calm and comfort of the lodge felt like coming back to a private sanctuary. The combination of beautiful surroundings, abundant wildlife, tranquility, and warm hospitality made our stay truly special. We would happily return and stay even longer next time!!"

"I am writing this review at the hotel, watching water vapour rise off the trees, and many colourful birds in the wild and beautiful garden. The hotel used to be a conservation centre, and you can see why. Rosi, has just made me a hearty and delicious breakfast to set me up for the day. Where Brian (Rosi’s son) will be taking me on a local guided trek of the rainforest. I then embark on a chocolate tour, organised for me by Carlos (Rosi’s husband), who has been incredibly welcoming. Their enthusiasm for birds and nature is infectious! The treks, guides and local knowledge is second to none. A truly remarkable stay, would recommend to anyone wanting to switch off, relax and be surrounded by natural beauty. Pura Vida"

"Super nice hotel very clean and central, and cheap. Good air conditioning, warm and strong shower, comfortable beds. The family is very helpful and kind. The price is definitely very low for the quality of the room and of the service. It really feels like being at home. You can help yourself with tea, coffee and cacao."

Arbol de Vida Hotels in Puerto Jimenez

Arbol de Vida

"This hotel is really the worst. I would not recommend staying there at all! The reason is that when I visited the hotel on the day of my stay, the office was closed and there was no one there. A nearby resident told me that a hotel representative was in a nearby office and guided me there. If they are in a nearby office, they should put up a sign saying so. I was the only other guest staying at the hotel, but there was no hotel manager or employee in the hotel, and the owner and employees went home, leaving me alone at the facility. When I told the owner that it was too unreasonable to leave the guests and go home, he got angry and said, "My hotel is rated 5, so there is no problem, and in Costa Rica, it is bedtime at 10 p.m., so everyone goes home." The beds were not even made, and the sheets were very dirty. There were also insects on the pillows, and the hygiene was so poor that I complained to the owner, but he did not apologize and yelled at me. When I checked out, there were no employees there, so I had to leave the key with a cleaning lady who happened to be nearby. It's really sloppy and unheard of to leave guests behind! I think there is something wrong with Trip.com for handling this hotel. I had a very unpleasant experience! It's a scam to pay 110,000 yen for this!"

Bosque del Cabo Rain Forest Lodge ★★★★
"Bosque is located on the very tip of OSA peninsula. It is very remote and enchanting place you would want to visit if your like being immersed in nature while at the same time being pampered with wonderful luxurious surroundings, helpful yet not intrusive service and top notch food. You will be provided with your very own bungalow with a bird view to the Pacific Ocean. Rooms are spotlessly clean and wry beautifully adorned. Landscaping surrounding the entire resort - lush and thoughtfully designed to provide for many native animals and birds. There are no feeders but amount of wildlife viewing is unparalleled at most other locations. You would think “how does she know all that so well?” As a secret I’ll tell you that our family goes to Bosque since perhaps 2013sh-how many times? - I lost the count. What amazes me every time -the place is getting better each time we are there. It’s a hard job to upkeep such a wonderful hotel in such an unforgiving climate. You would not regret going there. You will see. The price is rather high per night but it’s worth every penny. The last thing we usually do before we leave Bosque-we plan our return there."

Corcovado Private Villas ★★★
"Everything is dated, poorly furnished, no room service, and only one towel. The whirlpool in the honeymoon suite was partially broken, and there was no water or coffee/tea in the room. Breakfast was sometimes 1 km away from the villas. The food and drinks were the worst we've had so far on our multi-week tour. Although the location is magnificent, we wouldn't recommend it and hope the place gets renovated, as the location deserves it. P.S.: The very heavy gate at the entrance must be operated manually by guests."

LagunaVista Villas ★★★
"This place is literally heaven. My wife and I had stayed at an inn down the road from LVV 13 years ago (that inn is closed now) but we wanted to re-live that wonderful first time Osa. We wanted to be where the Scarlet Macaws were. It's hard to go back to anywhere, and have something be better than your first time, but staying with Greg and Keiko was an experience that is difficult to put into words. It was that good. The room was incredible. For those worried about bugs, the room with the bed is very well screened. No creepy crawlies. The bathroom, exposed to the world. My wife, who thought this would be a challenge, was absolutely captivated by the next morning. Day three I was standing at the toilet having a pee, and I caught a "lifer" and ran to get a camera. You just don't have this anywhere else. There was nothing to be scared of, during the day or at night. The food? While we were there, we were lucky enough to have Keiko cook for us. Every morsel was delicious, and we can't wait to have more. Keiko makes fantastic Margaritas too! If you find yourself with a spare 30 minutes during the day, the pool here is without a doubt the most spectacular we have ever been in. Warm (but not heated), calm and with an infinity view that 6 star Caribbean resorts could never compare to. I am a birder (and wildlife spotter), my wife is a photographer. Different beasts to be sure, but we were both had more presented before us than we could have hoped for. I have attached a couple of pictures, all taken from the deck of our room. Finally, for those who leave home but miss "dad" jokes, Greg has enough material to keep you going for days. Greg is an wonderful, warm and absolutely charming host. But Keiko gives way better hugs :-)"

Hacienda Río Oro ★★★
"Of all the places that I have travelled to this is the most magical place I have ever seen. A simple walk down the road allowed me to experience wildlife that is only in national geographic. This doesn’t truly reflect the access to the lagoon or the beach which is spectacular. We waited at sunset with a cocktail in hand for the green spark of the set in sun from a comfortable seat on a deck above a pristine jungle with at least 3 different kinds of monkeys cavorting through the canopy at our feet. As the days got hot (the whole point of being there) I shucked off all of my clothes and descended into the plunge pool which is an experience you have to try to understand just how thrilling it is and that term understates the true experience. This resort will be an experience like nothing you have experienced. I highly recommend it is awesome "

"Maze Lodge is absolutely mind blowing! Located in the middle of the jungle, it feels like entering another world. You can only see jungle and hear animal sounds. We stayed in Toucan Lodge and really enjoyed chilling at the terrace where we barbecued at night. The interior design is beautiful, the lodges are super clean and has everything you need. There are plenty of activities to do, like hiking the ‘river trail’ through the jungle to the river at the bottom of the trail. Or do zip-lining at their neighbor’s. I also enjoyed spending time on the platform at the top of the resort, overlooking the jungle - you can even see the Golfo Dulce! The pool area is amazing and we even saw monkeys in the trees very close by. In the morning I enjoyed working out at ‘jungle gym’ with the most breathtaking view. The owners and the caretaker are super lovely and welcoming. I had the most amazing time there and would recommend everyone going."
