Around 9 pm, as we were getting ready to rest in our room, we kept hearing a water sound coming from somewhere on the ceiling, kind of like water boiling. We assumed other guests upstairs were using water, so we didn't think much of it. The water sound continued until almost midnight, even though we had specifically requested a quiet room when booking. We contacted the guesthouse via WeChat, and they said the drainage pipes on the roof were inside the air conditioner's external fan. Unbelievable! What kind of design is that, especially for a guest room? We live in Chengdu and were on vacation, wanting a nice place to stay and rest. We paid over 1300 yuan for this kind of room—it's infuriating! We might as well have stayed at home. The guesthouse indicated they were aware of the issue; they identified the source of the noise within minutes of asking. The rain wasn't heavy that night, and we opened a small window, but the sound of the drainpipe inside the room was louder than the normal rain outside. I tossed and turned in bed for a long time, unable to sleep (I even wore earplugs). It wasn't until around 4 AM, when the rain seemed to stop, that the noise in the room ceased. It was only a light drizzle when we stayed, and the water noise in the room was already this loud; if it were a heavy downpour, it would probably be a symphony. The guesthouse was built in 2021. I don't believe no guests have stayed in this room during rainy seasons, or that no guest has complained about the same water noise keeping them awake. I don't know if the drainage systems in other room types are designed this way, but why haven't they fixed it? Perhaps the renovation project is too large, especially since it doesn't rain every day. They should explain to guests who encounter this issue; after all, no customer will choose to stay in the same room long-term. Guesthouses aren't located in scenic areas; it's a one-time business.
