"A nicely located ‘boutique ‘ hotel with a great restaurant conveniently located for waterfalls and stunning scenery nicely set back offthe ring road and only about 40 mins from Vik . The rooms in the main hotel are a bit old school and flowery in style rather than traditional Icelandic -and could do with a little remodelling . The new annex rooms are better if you want a more Nordic vibe. Otherwise very friendly and welcoming team with a good breakfast. The wild goose burger in the restaurant was awesome and the child’s burger very generous in size . Highly rated all the food we had. Slight gripe the hot tubs were a little green with algae but the views stunning ."

"Check-in by yourself with password, you need to go to the hotel skoga front desk a few hundred meters away to get the check-in password. The breakfast is good with hot food, and there is a hot drink machine on the first floor for self-service all day. There is no convenient charging plug at the bedside, it is recommended to bring your own European extension plug board to unplug the bedside lamp wire to get power."

"Had such a great stay at the garage, super scenic spot. The room was just perfect and it was quite a treat to arrive to fresh baked banana bread and chocolate cake the day we arrived. The owner was very accommodating and there to answer any questions. My boys, ages 11 and 13 were able to explore the property up to the waterfall behind the home which was an extra special treat. Especially when her dogs followed us along the trail I think that made their day. We even got to take advantage of the hot tub after our day of hiking. Looking back I would have booked 2 nights here as we really loved it and could have easily stayed 2 days and done some of our tours venturing out from there. ."

"Accommodation was great - amazing location, nice small cottage where we found everything we needed. HOWEVER the check-in process was really terrible experience. We called to the phone number that we found on the hotel website - it means we followed the check-in process as it stated in confirmation email. Lady told us code that we had to use to get into cottage but we could not understood precisely the number. So we asked her to repeat slowly. She told us she can’t repeat it and hang up the phone. After that we couldn’t call her back - she probably block my number so my friend tried to call her, she blocked also her phone number. So we called her through Trip - she picked up and after we told her we want to check in I to North Star cottage she again hang up. So my friend went to the cottage door and tried combinations of number to unlock the door - otherwise we wouldn’t sleep in the cottage this night. Really terrible experience and unprofessional behaviour of staff. Definitely not recommending."

Clear views of the skies and though it was cloudy we got photographic Northern Lights. The house was well equipped with a kitchen, electric boiler, comfortable sitting area and porch. "This was the largest hotel room I stayed in during my 7-night trip to Iceland. The room was spacious and comfortable, which made our stay very pleasant. However, there were a few things I did not like. The hotel does not have a lift, so we had to carry our heavy luggage up to our room on the second floor, which was quite inconvenient. I also did not like the bathtub. It was quite small, and water easily spilled onto the bathroom floor when taking a shower. Overall, the spacious room was a big plus, but the lack of a lift and the bathroom design could be improved."
