Hotel Baia del Capo ★★★
"Great hotel. Lovely staff. We were the only Brits there but had a wonderful time. Rooms, grounds and pool are immaculately kept. Would definitely recommend having a car as there is not much within easy walking distance and allows you to explore Tropea and rest of region. Fab beach is a five minute drive away and has the best sea water I’ve ever swam in in the Mediterranean. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for an authentic family run Italian hotel and some good value R&R."
Hotel Umberto ★★★
"Pretty good"
Tonicello Hotel Resort & Spa ★★★★
"Excellent all round. Super staff. A breakfast that was amazing. The most beautiful gardens and a lovely pool. Very clean and tidy. Connections could not be easier. Train from Lametzia to the station where hotel staff pick you up on golf buggy. Beach within easy reach. Crystal clear sea."
Borgo di Santa Barbara ★★★★
"The room and bathroom were a bit small, with no room for a second bedside table. However, the small balcony was pleasant, as was the on-site restaurant."
Baia Del Sole Resort ★★★★
"We have just returned from the most amazing 2 weeks holiday to celebrate a special anniversary. The hotel and its grounds are absolutely stunning. The rooms are contemporary yet exceptionally comfortable. Bathroom are lovely - personally I prefer a bath but the shower was excellent. We chose the hotel due to it's location - accessibility to the station and it's food - locally sourced and local specialities. It would have been helpful if staff could have given directions to the station and also bus routes and timetables. It is fair to say if you don't like steep hills this is probably not the ideal location. Food in the main was very good but there were a couple of dishes which were not to our taste. Whilst the buffet was plentiful - 2 nights per week - the hot buffet was tepid - we didn't enjoy buffet and for a hotel of this quality we would prefer a la carte every night. However otherwise excellent locally sourced organic produce including from the hotel garden and good local wines at a reasonable price and a varied 4 course a la carte menu. Breakfast was outstanding - a wide variety of buffet with an omelette, pancake and crepe option cooked to order. Beautiful restaurant overlooking the beach. The beach is nice but would benefit from new sunbeds; the pool area clean with plenty of comfortable sunbeds. Emmanuelle the lifeguard was friendly and helpful. Service was generally good, but on occasion not always consistent. Special mention to Antonella, Antonio, Raffaelle, Guiseppie and Alex. Cleanliness was outstanding - the housekeepers and gardeners were also excellent. The bar was nice but we found wine by the glass expensive compared to a bottle at dinner. We didn't enjoy the entertainment so relaxed by our room on those evenings. Overall a very good stay and we would return."
Bloom Tropea ★★★
Villaggio Baia d'Ercole ★★★★
"We were staying here on October 2021 with my family and the experience was honestly the most awful vacay experience we've ever had. Food was not good and the location was very bad, but this one incident made us very uncomfortable. Last day of our vacay I saw from the pool, that the door of our room was open. I walked to the room to see what's going on, and there was a old man holding my wallet. He was "repairing" toilet even tho it wasn't broken. He freaked out and shouted to italian that the wallet was on the floor. (It wasn't it was in my purse) We tried to sort this out with the front desk, but they were super weird about the whole incident. Also, talked very badly about us in italian because they didn't know my mom actually understands italian. Later that evening this old couple came to us, and ask if we were the ones who had someone random going thru our belongings. They told us there was 100e missing from their room. So something very shady was clearly going on with this place. Did not feel safe at all. Had to search this hotel again after all this years, and saw another review (italian) about same kinda experience that we had, so decided to let y'all know. "
Residence Hotel Felix ★★★
"A good property for a Vatican City vacation, with a nice room and a comfortable bed. The bathroom is small and a bit dated but clean. The air conditioning is efficient, but it's a shame I couldn't adjust the temperature and fan speed. There wasn't a remote control in the room; I could have asked for one, but I was tired. The recently renovated pool is excellent, with a lovely solarium."
La Bussola Hotel Calabria ★★★
"My 3rd stay at this hotel since 2017 and it just gets better. Customer service was excellent throughout, breakfast quality had improved, the restaurant area is far more modern and the bar area in the garden fits very well. The pool area is great for both adults and kids. Can highly recommend paying the extra for superior rooms. Much more spacious than a standard room, excellent view of the sea. This hotel in the view of a time served travel agent meets the requirement of a 4 star hotel despite being a 3 star The hotel is cleaned to a high standard. I saw 3 cleaners working on each room. The excursions the hotel can plan are quite varied and interesting including culinary tours, a trip to the volcanic island of stromboli and also use to an area of a beach that I would describe as being one of the best on mainland Italy. The hotel can also arrange transfers to and from Lamezia and Reggio Calabria airport, as well as the local train station if you opt for not taking a car. Enjoy your stay at La Bussola hotel, you will not be disappointed!"

Capovaticano Resort Thalasso Spa
"Not for people who want to have fun. It is very secluded and can be very boring. It's very regimented . Like, they won't serve any food after 8.30 pm. It got boring very quickly. The service at the dinner was shocking. Very poor , they weren't even listening to our requests. One day , they didn't even give us the table . And we were shocked as to what do we do now ? Since it's like in the middle of nowhere. We got up and went to the city centre which was 40 mins away. Also, there are very few cabs available so when we tried to book a cab they said it will be two hours. So pls go in your own car. The reception staff was nice and over all it was okay. But it got very boring as there was no entertainment available. They need to arrange something for people to have fun rather than just sitting at the beach all day long. There were 90% old people so I guess it not for young people ."
Midenza Seaside & Nature Retreat
"Perfect place. So beautyful and everything so clean. Great service and perfect service love Giovanni, Pasqvale and Gioia-Tina and all the others❤️. We love the wiev. 5 star plus🤩❤️"
Villaggio Camping la Scogliera
"The view from the restaurant is breathtaking, I recommend it at sunset! Super abundant and excellent quality food. The waitress Ida was very professional and helpful, she provided us with a lot of useful information, super kind!! To come back!!"
B&B Il Cavaliere Tropea
"We stayed at BB Cavaliere Tropea for a girls’ weekend trip (11 of us in total), and it exceeded all expectations! The property looks exactly like the photos – quaint, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. The rooms were spotless, and everything felt freshly painted. The pool was warm, but fresh, and inviting, with super comfy loungers – perfect for relaxing. Renata and the team were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. We had one dinner at the on-site restaurant, which was both delicious and reasonably priced. The location is ideal – just a stone’s throw from busy Tropea via the convenient shuttle, yet tucked away in a tranquil setting. Guests also have access to a lovely private garden by the sea in Tropea, which was a real bonus. Baia di Riaci, with its beautiful coves (great for snorkelling), beach bar, and loungers, is around a 20-minute walk. Santa Domenica is right on the doorstep with supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, and amazing gelato. In short, this was the perfect base to explore Tropea and the surrounding area – we hope to return very soon!"
Villaggio Athragon
"The ideal place for total relaxation. I was a little discouraged by some of the negative reviews I'd read before leaving, but I was completely satisfied. The rooms, while not brand new, are spotless and have everything you need. The outdoor kitchen is very functional, the private beach is quiet, with plenty of space between the umbrellas, and the pool is a real plus. The bar and restaurant are all within easy reach. I had a pleasant stay at this resort and will definitely return."
Hotel Ipomea Club
"Good location and service, great for vacation."
Baia del Godano Resort & Spa
"Hotel excellent but restaurant lets the hotel down. The restaurant is disappointing with a poorly thought out boring menu and is disorganised. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights but only ate at the restaurant the first night, plenty of other great restaurants nearby. Great spot for hotel and the sunset is amazing."
Tuisuneo la Conchiglia - Adults Only
"This beautiful small and friendly resort is exactly that. We couldn't have asked for friendlier staff and because it is so small you get to know others staying there too. The restaurant serves Mediterranean food and traditional Italian with delicious ice cream as you would expect from Italy. Above and beyond the entertainment team are second to none. Gaytana, Atilla, Sandy and David were just brilliant. They encouraged you to join in and to make the most of your holiday experience. Music, quizzes, and games in the evening as you watch the idyllic sun setting. The scenery is beautiful. Housekeeping staff cannot be forgotten as they are incredible, every day the rooms are cleaned, beds made and fresh towels left. Very friendly. Location wise you are tucked away but the train station is only a 10 minute walk away and 2 stops to Tropea which is definitely worth a visit. Lots of steps down to the beautiful beach but well worth it. One tip is to check the train times as they are 1 and hour, but during the lunch hours it's every two hours. Very cheap. Less than £1.50 for the journey there. I would highly recommend TUI Suneo La Conchiligia. We are already looking to book again for another chilled week next year."
Sunshine Club Hotel Centro Benessere
"We stayed for one week at this hotel with two of our friends and I highly recommend it. The hotel is truly beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and the food is great. I loved the swimming pool and the terrace where you can watch stunning sunsets over Stromboli. The location is not close to the beach but the staff will organise shuttles down to the beach or the restaurants in Santa Maria. The staff team at Sunshine Hotel are so good and we felt welcomed and valued throughout our stay. Our thanks go to Davide, Matteo and the rest of the staff team. I cannot wait to go back again next year"
Tenuta Tropeano
"My boyfriend Kristofer and I stayed for a week at Tenuta Tropeano and we loved it! Beautiful hotel including the rooms, reception, pool area and garden. Safe parking space for your car. The owner Angelo, his family and the other staff were fantastic. Great service, communication, and cleaning. Angelo gave a high level of service all the hours of the day he was there, he recommended restaurants and places to visit, and with his warmth he made us feel so appreciated as guests. We already miss starting our mornings at Tenuta with their breakfast and incredible view. We recommend!"
Hotel Village Eden
"I usually wait until the end of my stay to review but, this time, I feel I can make an exception. The village is splendidly positioned in a segment of coast that I personally consider among the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, in the whole of Calabria and is tidy and well-kept. Excellent assistance during the booking phase and welcome upon arrival. The staff, all of them, were kind, helpful and smiling. A special note to the tireless drivers Ivo and Claudio who, with every call, take holidaymakers up and down; to the attentive, friendly and funny Nino the lifeguard; to the maître Domenico and his staff (reviewed separately in the restaurant section), to the engaging but discreet group of entertainers led by Marco and Gioia; to the property that has created a clean and well-organized village. Finally, the crystal clear sea and the white beach complete the picture. Everything exceeded expectations (perhaps, to be meticulous, the furnishings of the apartments in the upper part are a little dated). Well done and keep it up! Although we love traveling and visiting different places, this place could be the destination for our next holidays. I conclude with a note that is particularly dear to me: having a disabled child, the village accepted some of my requests during the booking phase and the entire staff was particularly attentive. Thanks and praise again to everyone. WELL DONE!"
Villaggio Pineta Petto Bianco
"The resort is beautiful and well-maintained, nestled in a beautiful pine forest, meticulously cared for by the gardener, who is present every day. The apartments are very comfortable, equipped with a refrigerator, kitchen, and outdoor space with a table and umbrella. The beach isn't the prettiest in the area, but we're still on the Costa degli Dei, and the sea, once past the first rocks on the shore, is gorgeous. Diego, the lifeguard, is exceptionally kind and helpful, as are almost all the staff, starting with Michele, Franco, Giuseppe, and all the rest, always present and available, friendly, and exceptionally kind. The jewel in the crown of the resort is the entertainment... Giusy, impeccable, managed to get even my older daughter involved in the games without being too pushy; Danilo, the sweetest, handled muscle toning and pool activities with great professionalism despite the scorching heat; and finally Elisa and Valentina, also always present and extremely sweet. Unfortunately, the food was a sore point...we discovered after a few days that due to a serious problem, they found themselves without a chef, who is difficult to replace in high season. Although they tried to patch up the situation, aside from two or three very successful dishes, the rest of the cuisine needs improvement, with dishes not worthy of a 4-star rating, whether in terms of the choice of dishes, the quality and quantity of the products, or their cooking. Just as an example, in 10 days they served us carbonara (in Calabria) twice, the first time with speck and the second time with pancetta, in both cases among other cold cuts! Side dishes are almost non-existent (there's not even a buffet). I understand the difficulty of the moment, but Calabria is full of tasty dishes, including cured meats, cheeses, ricotta, vegetables in oil, potatoes, etc., and perhaps they could have focused on a nice, rich appetizer that didn't require a high level of preparation (instead, even there, apart from the typical evening, we had to settle for 3 frozen rustici, or on several occasions a small plate with a small square of omelette with sausages or green beans, or 3 slices (of number) of cold cuts... on the contrary, breakfast was rich and included sweet and savory. Aside from the cuisine, the environment, the structure, and the friendliness of the staff were impeccable and made our holiday pleasant. I hope to return soon and find a cuisine of a level commensurate with the structure, so as to make our next holiday unforgettable."
