📍 1-8 Highstreet, Helmsley

"Our third stay at The Feversham Arms Hotel.  We were allocated a pool suite which was excellent.  Apparently the hotel is up for sale, the administrators have been brought in.  Hopefully the new owners will be found and after a few tweaks here and there the hotel will be five stars."

The HAM and Cheese

The HAM and Cheese ★★★

📍 Bull Piece Ln, Scagglethorpe

"This is my favorite hotel during this trip to the UK. It's really like the kind of hotel in a classic novel, with a bar or restaurant downstairs and several guest rooms upstairs. The driver thought that the conditions of such a hotel would be very poor and not as good as a hotel. Actually no, it’s very nice inside, clean, comfortable, spacious and unique! The most unforgettable thing for me was that on the day of arrival, I was menstruating and I didn’t have any sanitary napkins. I was very anxious because there were no supermarkets around and the location was quite remote. I booked this place because I wanted to take the Pickering Steam Train the next day. Hotel. I ate on the first floor and told the waiter about my difficulties. I didn't express myself accurately. The waiter went to the back to get dry paper towels, wet paper towels, and sanitary napkins, and asked me which one I needed. I pointed at the sanitary napkin. She went to the back and gave me three pieces, which were wrapped so that no one else could see them. I thanked her very much and wanted to give her money, but she didn’t want it. I gave her a brooch I bought the day before yesterday, and she happily accepted it. I was very happy!"

"Lovely stay at this little farm. Cottages are quaint, clean, cosy and comfy. Great for groups as you can all gather together during the dsy/evenings if desired. The host was very helpful and informative. The animals were a bonus too! The views from each cottage are amazing and it's ideally situated for walks and sight seeing. The Royal Oak Hotel ★★★

📍 15 Market Pl, Helmsley

"We had a ovely welcome, and spent the night in a good comfortable room. We ate supper in the pub, and had a really good meal. The only problem was the loud voices from the pub filtered upwards until quite late. They don't do breakfast, but there are several options just a short walk away."

Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa ★★★★
"Having visited previously we were very much looking forward to spending 2 nights at The Feversham Arms. We were disappointed to see how tired the venue looked on the outside the sun was shining and we looked forward to spending the afternoon having lunch by the pool and Soaking up the sun.  The service was below par and the food was average despite being quite heavily priced. There wasn’t enough seats to accommodate the guests who all obviously wanted to do the same thing. The pool area had uplifted flags with weeds growing and the pool is in desperate need of repair. Having visited previously and been treated with kind and courteous staff I was disheartened by the attitude of some of the service staff, especially in the spa area and the alfresco dining area."

White Horse Farm Inn ★★★
"A traditional spot in the English countryside. A key feature is the fantastic view from the houses; on a clear evening, enjoying a beer there is pure bliss. It's also a great place for stargazing at night, with a wide-open vista. Other aspects were standard, a traditional inn. The food was decent; we had dinner—a large portion of lasagna, very filling. We skipped breakfast. The highlight here is the view from the open space in front of the house; I'll definitely have a beer there next time. It was too cold and windy this time."

"we were staying close by and booked dinner here, glad we did, a lovely welcome, all the staff were amazing, as was the food, good honest pub food, done well, huge portions, the steak was spot on and cooked to perfection, good drinks range too. Sadly not our usual places we visit, or even close, so I fear it will be a one off trip, but highly recommended"
