"The rooms were expensive, the bedding was poor quality, and our room was cold. We even had to jury-rig the curtains just to get them to close properly. But the worst part was the incredibly unpleasant manager. We were heading to the spa around 1 PM, dressed in our bathrobes, when we ran into him in the hallway. Without even a greeting, and in a very disagreeable tone, he just blurted out: 'The spa opens at 3 PM!!!!' We truly didn't feel welcome at this hotel. When you're charging 280 (currency implied) for a room, you really need to deliver on quality bedding, proper maintenance, and overall good service. A huge shout-out, however, to the young woman who handled both the shuttle service and housekeeping. She was incredibly cheerful, welcoming, and truly presented the hotel in a positive light—something it desperately needs."

"Our family came to Saas Fee hoping to create a new annual Christmas tradition — somewhere special enough to return to year after year. After researching extensively, The Capra stood out: glowing reviews, luxury positioning, and a reputation for excellent service. We booked two suites for a week over Christmas with high hopes. Sadly, despite the beautiful setting and lovely touches here and there, our experience was defined by persistent service failures that impacted our holiday and affected the experience. Problems began before we even arrived. Since The Capra no longer offers half-board, we reached out weeks in advance for help booking restaurants over the busy holiday period. The hotel sent a list — but as we tried to confirm options, it turned out some restaurants weren’t open, others couldn’t be booked unless staying in their parent hotel, and some just didn’t reply. After two weeks of going back and forth, we had to ask the team to simply make whatever bookings they could. We’d never struggled like this to book dining before a trip — and given the Capra’s reputation, we had expected more confident, proactive help. Our request for a Christmas tree in the room — something we’ve had at many hotels, and especially meaningful to our children — was flatly declined. This was the first time we’d been told no, and it felt like a small but telling disappointment in a week filled with them. The Capra itself is a warm and modern chalet-style hotel, located on the far edge of the village — farther from the ski lifts than any other hotel we saw. The shuttle to the lifts runs frequently and works well, but if you want to dine in the village or explore, you’re in for a chilly walk — which made dinner outings with kids in the snow feel more like a chore than a treat. It’s a shame, because the more central parts of the village have charm, but the location makes it hard to enjoy spontaneously. The rooms were beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. We booked one Deluxe and one Signature suite — both had two double beds and felt nearly identical, with the Signature arguably better value. However, the hotel only allows three guests in the Signature suite despite its bedding. Both suites were extremely compact - they felt too compact to fit a Christmas tree, which might explain their refusal to provide one. Dining was, unfortunately, the most stressful part of our stay. We had reserved Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel’s Brasserie 1809 months in advance, expecting a highlight of the trip. Instead, we were told on arrival the cost had increased from 140 to 195 francs per person, without explanation. We reluctantly agreed as we had no other choice. The meal itself was extremely delayed — we sat down at 7:30, received our first course at 9:30, and our children went to bed hungry before the main arrived. Our family didn’t make it to dessert. "Fabulous stay at the very comfortable Hotel Allalin in Saas-Fee. The staff were fantastic and the service was top-notch. We ate a lovely 5 course meal every evening in the restaurant and the food was excellent with a good choice of main courses and soups - breakfast also a winner. Our duplex room was perfect for our small family with 2 separate areas for sleeping upstairs for my wife and myself, and our 14 year old son. We also had a nice clean bathroom and a small TV area with a comfortable sofa. The whole hotel was immaculate and very clean and tidy. Loved the cake and tea set out in the foyer every afternoon for hungry skiers returning from a busy day on the slopes. There was also a handy ski-room for our skis and boots down at the Alpin Express ski lift. Evreything about the hotel was perfect for a family ski trip."

"A gem of a boutique property. Great size, true 5 star service & facilities. The restaurant has a wonderful cuisine and staff, including the warm, professional attention of Joel who adds so much to the environment & great vibe in the restaurant. At breakfast in the morning, we had a lovely blond woman and young man who had just started; they were super pleasant especially for those early morning hours! The Front desk was extremely helpful including Giulia who provided additional suite pictures so that we could pick the best accommodation for our family. Arthur & Giulia were beyond helpful with a restaurant situation outside of the hotel that had closed for the season but left their reservations system "on". Beautiful materials (stone, wood) used throughout the hotel; lovely decor, photography. A pillow menu would be helpful; perhaps addition of thicker firmer pillows. I would say also the sofabed in our suite could have been more comfortable as a sofa (did not use as sofabed). Overall, truly beautiful and exceptional stay."

"The most important thing to note is the limited hours of the front desk (10am to 6pm in the summer). This is an issue if you might arrive late or want to leave your bags in the morning after checking out. The hotel is absolutely serious about wanting you to contact them before you arrive to confirm your arrival time although the email they sent to me had no return email address. The bed (although not the pillows) was comfortable and the hot water and wifi both worked well. In-room safe was not large enough for a computer. In contrast to many smaller Swiss hotels, there's scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. My room had a great view of the mountains. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. In contrast to some Saas-Fee hotels, my Saastal card was already printed when I checked-in. If you leave luggage, it is left in the bar area so there's no real security for it."
