"This old wooden house, a typical Japanese countryside residence, clearly once belonged to a wealthy family. It boasts a beautiful courtyard and is very quiet at night. This is the hometown of Mr. Fujino, Lu Xun's teacher, and is surrounded by attractions such as Higashishin and Oshima."

"Our stay at this heritage hotel, which consists of beautifully renovated old houses scattered throughout a charming town, was a unique and mostly pleasant experience. The facilities and room amenities were excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the local atmosphere and the authentic dining options nearby. However, as a Michelin-recommended establishment, there is significant room for improvement regarding communication and attention to detail. 1. Repetitive and Inefficient Communication: After booking through an OTA (Ctrip), we received multiple calls from agents asking the same questions (arrival time, dietary restrictions, gender for amenities). Despite answering these repeatedly, it became clear that the information was either not recorded or not transmitted to the hotel staff. 2. Critical Lapse in Dietary Requirements: Our most serious concern involved a severe dairy allergy. We informed the OTA agents multiple times and even sent two separate emails directly via the hotel’s official website to ensure the message was received. Unfortunately, the hotel never replied to our emails, and upon arrival, the staff claimed they had no record of our request. Consequently, dairy-containing dishes were served to the allergic guest during the first meal. 3. Resolution: While the issue was eventually resolved and the second day went smoothly, the lack of coordination between the hotel, the booking agent, and the hotel’s own email system was frustrating. For a hotel of this caliber, one expects a seamless flow of information—especially regarding guest safety and allergies. Conclusion: Everything else about the hotel was wonderful, but these service "softwares" are what separate a good hotel from a truly great one. I hope the management can improve their internal communication and email responsiveness to match the high physical quality of the property.

"It's conveniently located near Tojinbo Cliffs. The dinner and breakfast are very luxurious. The seafood is fresh and plentiful, which was very satisfying. The baths are also clean. The all-you-can-drink alcoholic beverages at the front desk were a nice touch."

"It would be even better if there was an open-air bath. It's a two-story building, but it would be even better if there was an elevator."

"The room was spacious and clean. There was a refrigerator, but it couldn't freeze anything. There were two baths, and they were open 24 hours a day. I took a bath when I arrived. Both baths were indoors! There was also an open-air bath, which was hot. They took me to dinner by car, and on the way back they even stopped at a convenience store. I was very grateful. Breakfast was delicious, with salmon roe rice and freshly grilled sardines, and there were plenty of side dishes, and the watermelon was excellent. I was able to take a relaxing bath early in the morning, which was great."

"First of all, the welcome drink was a nice touch! They had a good selection of alcoholic beverages, including soft drinks, beer, Paul Star, chuhai, and highballs. They also had popcorn, brown sugar buns, ice pops, and the famous Habutae mochi. There were three different large public baths, perfect for relaxing. In addition to the provided shampoo, they also had Knole, MIKIMOTO, and DHC shampoos to choose from. The rooms were spacious and had great views. We only opted for breakfast, but the seafood selection was excellent, and we enjoyed a large bowl of it. Access was a bit of a struggle, as we traveled by public transport and it's about a 10-minute walk from the nearest Mikuni Station, as it's uphill. There's also a bus for one stop, but it's not very frequent. On the way back, the bus and train connections were poor, so we ended up walking to the station, but it was downhill, so we arrived quickly. For those traveling by car, there's plenty of parking, so that shouldn't be a problem. There's a bus right below the hotel, making it easy to visit the Tojinbo area."

"First, booking through Trip.com does not include meals. If you need additional meals, it's best to contact the hotel directly. The hotel seemed quite busy; it was fully booked when I arrived on the day I visited. Also, the hotel only has a large public bath and public toilets; it's a traditional Japanese inn, so be aware of this to avoid disappointment. You can take a bus from a short distance from the guesthouse to Tojinbo and Oshima Island, a place for viewing rocks. The water there is very clear, with blue skies and white clouds. Oshima Island is low, so you can walk around it quickly."
