Hotel Galeazzi

"This looks lovely but don't be fooled. Our balcony needed to be swept - old cheese and bread crumbs from former guests. Kettle still full of water - okay I know I can empty a kettle, but it is all about the detail. The demonstrated care is easy to achieve. Bathroom ceiling tiles needed replacing - stained. The shower was tiny 700cm by 700cms no room to move without accidentally changing the water temp - tragically humourous in its own way. Only one (yes one) tea bag supplied - were they trying to save money? Room air con was effective, but noisy. Five Euros for a pool towel - talk about gouging (or nickle and diming for US readers). A preportedly four star hotel would surely have it's linen table cloths ironed - not the case here. The main road, at the front (which the hotel obviously can't do anything about) is busy and noisy - especially with motorbikers (who, like others enjoy the lake road). But it is also busy at night. Some nights had more traffic than others. Hotel guests (again outwith the hotel's control) also noisy. Unfortunately one to avoid. No idea how this has four stars."

"Very beautiful location directly on the lake. About a 10-minute walk to the center. A great breakfast offering with a view of the pool and lake. The garden and pool were cleaned and maintained daily by the gardener. Large rooms with direct lake views and very friendly, competent (German-speaking) staff at the reception. Private garage across the street, accessible only through two gates."

"We stayed for eight nights and were delighted by how centrally located this small hotel actually is. The hotel owners, a young couple, are truly charming, very friendly, and helpful. The staff are also very nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean, and the breakfast buffet was well-stocked and filled everyone. While the surrounding area was quite noisy with the window open, it was completely quiet with the window closed. We would book again anytime."

"We had the most lovely stay at Hotel Laurin. We were greeted outside on our arrival by caring, friendly staff and our cases were immediately taken to our room. From the minute we arrived to our departure we were made to feel very valued as guests and were shown every courtesy. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were all genuinely kind, caring and smiley. Our room, a front lake view , was a beautiful, large traditional room, very comfortable with everything we needed. Supremely comfortable bed, mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities. They provided a turn down service too. The hotel building is outstandingly beautiful with a lovely outdoor pool and gardens. We dined in the evening and at breakfast. The food and service on both occasions was excellent. We will definitely return to this wonderful hotel."

Hotel Eden Salò

"We were driving by car and drove past the hotel twice. Not easy to fund, but we were guided by the helpful staff who even stood outside to welcome us. We paid extra for the on-site secure car park, which was a big bonus. We upgraded to a room with terrace view over the main road and clock tower. Slightly noisy on an evening, but wonderful views of the clock tower and towards the lake. The terrace window is double glazed and shuts out the noise when inside. The staff were very helpful with their introduction and spoke excellent English. Good air conditioning, a vital for the hot summer months. Rooms are a little on the small side and the bathroom (especially the shower) could do with modernising. The breakfast was varied and catered for all needs, but not as good as some of the reviews made out. There are only 32 rooms in the hotel and this is evidenced by the personal touch from the staff, who I could not praise highly enough. The location of the hotel is excellent and you are only a 5 minute walk to the lakeside and all that encompasses, with less than 10 minutes to the dock where the boats pick you up for the delights of the lake. There is a sun terrace on the top floor with sun loungers and tables/chairs that provides excellent views in both daytime and night time. A very definite plus from us and we would highly recommend this family run hotel. The negatives are not significant compared to the positives."
