Sami Beach Hotel ★★★

"We had a great week at Sami Beach and will definitely return in a couple of years as still lots of Kefalonia to see, Sami makes a great base for this. As other reviews have said, staff are excellent, very clean everywhere, breakfast good, rooms a decent size, large car park, good pool and beach with loungers, views to die for all round. Sami is a lovely town and we had some great meals out then a lovely walk back along the sea front. One negative for us was that the balconies are very small with no privacy and we were unlucky to have smokers and vapers next door which stopped us from enjoying sitting out a lot of the time. Not sure what can be done other than having one floor smoke free perhaps? All in all a lovely place for a holiday and see you in a couple of years we hope. Barry and Debbie"

Ionian Emerald Resort ★★★★★

"Very good hotel we stayed in a superior room with pool and sea view which was ok but the bathroom needs updating. Plus points however are it was kept spotlessly clean by the maid Adriana who seemed to be always cleanjng. The breakfast room was very inviting with plenty of choices and the two ladies there were very pleasant and helpful. The pool didn't really have a shallow end so not suitable for non -swimmers as was stated by several people because difficult to access. Lovely setting with small private beach. Two tavernas close by but no local supermarket. There was however a bakery. Easy stroll into Sami about 20 minutes where there are many excellent restaurants. Please note that the sister hotel Athina has use of the pool. The Athina bar however at night is lovely with reasonable prices. Bar at the Emerald lacks atmosphere and is usually empty."

"The room is very wide with a beautiful terrace and a wide refrigerator with freezer compartment. Breakfast is available from 10 menus, including express and cappuccino, and you will be served at the pool view table. Parking in front of the room and is equipped with washing machines (although not in perfect condition). Unfortunately, the rooms are not at the same level as the rest. "

Meliti Waterfront Suites ★★★★

"Ammos is the Penthouse suite at Meliti Waterfront suites. Its perfectly located overlooking the sea and the Karavomylos Taverna a few minutes’ walk away. It is reached via a flight of stairs (about 25 steps) from a garden entrance. Its probably better than the photos show; excellent cool décor and three bedrooms and two bathroom, one ensuite. The third bedroom had twin beds and is compact. The largest bedroom with two patio doors onto differing balconies does not have the ensuite, this is off the midsize bedroom. The main bathroom is large and also houses the washing machine. The ensuite is very compact and has a small almost vanity size basin. (Note both bathrooms have no basin plugs to retain water!) Our initial welcome was warm and friendly with a quick explanation of the facilities and near by restaurants and places for breakfast. Unlike many places we have stayed, if you wish to cater for yourself sometimes useful items such as condiments, foil, cling film, etc perhaps left by previous guests are not present so come prepared. The whole apartment however is very well equipped, with everything you need to prepare meals, plus two coffee machines (one Nespresso) and kettle. The beds are very comfortable, our bedding was changed once in 7 days, oddly on day 6. Towels were changed after 3 days. One large towel and one hand towel per bedroom. I would stay again as this is a stunning suite and very convenient for travel around the island, most places, Argostoli, Assos, Fiskardo, Poros and Skala all reachable within one hours drive, Agia Efimia in about 30 mins and Sami a 20-30 mins walk or a 10 minute drive. If like us you arrive and have an evening taxi transfer, I recommend you stop at a mini market enroute to buy water and provisions for your first breakfast etc. Don’t forget to pack a couple of plugs for the basins!"

"Despina and Manolis were wonderfully attentive and kind. The views from the ocean view room were breathtaking and the nearby restaurants were lovely. If you are looking for a break to an authentic slice of Greece's Ionian islands, Kalypso is the place to be. Despina is happy to help organising excursions as well as advising as whats good around the area. Being slightly outside of Sami (About a 10 minute walk down a beautiful beachfront promenade) Kalypso is a good place to relax with some peace and quiet, whether you are by the pool or in your room."

"Beautiful hotel. Great location spotlessly great. Couldn't ask for a better welcome. Markis is just brilliant and remembers everyone's name. You have an issue with anything he FIX IT !! Pool in hotel next door amazing sea about 2min walk. Loved every minute booked to go back next year"
