Hotels in Dongdaemun Market, Seoul

My family and I stay at Blueduck hotel for consecutive 6 nights. Everything went perfect! The room was really new and well-arranged. Front office staffs were all nice and good English speaking. Also, you will get OliveYoung discount coupon as well as 2 cups of Americano (get at the Cafe) for free daily! The taste of coffee and cafe vibe was great too. The location is really convenient to travel in the heart of Seoul, you can walk to Gwangjung market for 5mins. There’re plenty of local restaurants nearby even in front of the hote. Only CONS to give is the toilet floor was slippery- if the hotel could provide the bath mat, that would be perfect! 10 out of 10 score anyway, definitely recommended!

Capsule bed was very comfortable, although I wouldn’t be able to stay linger than 2 maybe 3 nights due to lack of windows and no air flow. Amenities were great, useful balcony upstairs. It was difficult to find but the owner was extremely helpful. I recommend it, that was the best stay I had in Seoul.

Facilities: Overall, pretty good. Even though the hotel is old, the facilities are well-maintained. The main drawbacks are that there are no power outlets by the bedside table, so you have to charge your devices at the desk. Also, one washing machine was out of order, leading to queues during peak laundry hours in the evening. Cleanliness: Very clean. Environment: Great location, close to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park subway station Exit 6 (just a few hundred meters walk, very convenient). You can see Namsan Tower from the window. The CJ ENM building is directly opposite the hotel. It's very convenient for visiting Dongdaemun, Myeongdong, Gyeongbokgung, etc. However, Exit 6 of the subway has many stairs, which can be really tiring if you're carrying a large suitcase. Service: Overall good. The front desk staff all speak Chinese, so communication is smooth. Any issues are resolved promptly. (All photos were taken with a 1x lens, no wide-angle. The room is genuinely very small, but it's clean, conveniently located, and a good choice when the price is right.)

The location is fantastic! There are tons of restaurants nearby, and a convenience store is right around the corner. It was really convenient to be able to stay out late in Dongdaemun and then quickly head back to the hostel. My room was spacious enough to lay out all my luggage, the sheets were clean, and the mattress was comfortable. Everything I needed was provided, and the staff were incredibly kind. You can register for their LINE account using the QR code by the entrance to quickly get in touch with them, and they respond right away. I was a bit worried about the shower and toilet being in one room, but the ventilation was excellent, so it dried quickly. The soundproofing in the room was great; I couldn't hear any noise from other rooms at all. I had my luggage sent from the airport, and they kindly stored it for me, and they'll hold it again when I leave. I was very satisfied with this hostel.

The hotel is located in an industrial area, but it’s within walking distance of Gwangjang Market. There’s a 7-Eleven right next door, which made it easy to pick up daily necessities. A nice bonus was the in-room washer—perfect for handling laundry each day. If you need a dryer, there’s a coin-operated machine downstairs, right next to the 7-Eleven. Housekeeping came every two days, but unfortunately, the service wasn’t thorough. After they cleaned, the floor was still dusty, and there was still a lot of hair left in the bathroom. That said, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the wonderful experience we had during our recent stay. All of the staff members were exceptionally friendly, warm, and always ready to help—this truly made our trip more enjoyable and memorable. I would especially like to commend Mr. Bok, who went above and beyond to deliver outstanding service. One evening, we had an issue with a food delivery that was marked as “delivered” in the app but never arrived. Despite the cold, rainy weather, Mr. Bok personally accompanied our two daughters to the neighboring buildings to search for the missing order, in case it had been left at the wrong address. His willingness to go the extra mile under such conditions was incredibly thoughtful and deeply appreciated. This act of kindness was truly heartwarming and left a lasting impression on us. Mr. Bok’s dedication and genuine care exemplify the highest standards of hospitality. Please extend our heartfelt thanks to him and your entire team. We will definitely look forward to staying with you again in the future.

Self check in, you scan the QR code at the desk and send your confirmation and passport through text, i did it with whatsapp. Then they give you the code to the door. Room is very minimalist: you get a fridge, a water room, a TV, and AC, which are all very decent. Don’t expect an amenity kit. The bed sheet had some old stains (seems like it has been washed but unable to get rid of the stain). I tried to not look at it and ignore it. But otherwise my sleep was good. Room is big enough that I could open my suitcases freely.

First off, the hotel service is great, especially the breakfast. There's a good variety, and the waiter is really enthusiastic and quite charming. The hygiene is just okay; I found a hair on the bed, and the bedding felt a bit old and worn. The duvet was also a little thin. The bathroom has a bathtub, which isn't very convenient; I think it would be better to remove it, though that might be too costly. The hotel's location is excellent, right near Dongdaemun, with plenty of shopping malls and restaurants nearby. The price isn't too high either, so overall, it's great value for money.

This property has so many thoughtful details and touches! Besides a cute welcome gift, there's an adorable speaker, a thoughtful overnight kit (like the disposable toiletries you get in hotels), charging cables and adapters. The pillows are soft yet supportive, so my neck and the back of my head felt very comfortable while sleeping. Although the space is a bit small, I, as a solo traveler, could open my 24-inch suitcase and still have room to walk around. For two people, there's no need to worry as there's plenty of space under the bed, though retrieving items might not be as convenient. The soundproofing seems pretty good too; I barely heard other residents except for doors opening. The shared facilities outside the room are also interesting. The washer/dryer and luggage storage are located outside the unit, which is super convenient and won't disturb guests. The communal kitchenette even has an ice machine and a coffee maker (they even provide syrup, seriously! 😭✋). It really feels like the host has great taste and knows how to live well. Here are the only minor issues with this property; those who mind might want to consider them: 1. It's close to Metro Exit 6, but it's stairs-only. Carrying large luggage up those stairs would make you want to cry, but thankfully, the building itself has an elevator (huge relief). However, perhaps because it's a bit out of the way, I often encountered groups of people smoking e-cigarettes on the way back. It was a bit scary walking past them alone, but one gentleman I met was quite nice and even pointed me to the correct hotel entrance. 2. Some of the combination locks for luggage storage seemed to be broken, so you need to arrive early to snag a good one. 3. Due to space, it's more suitable for solo travelers (though the bed is large). 4. The showerhead holder is quite high; you'd probably need to be at least 160cm tall to comfortably hang it and wash your hair. However, the water pressure is very comfortable, the water heats up quickly, and the towels are cozy. 5. The duvet is slightly rough, but acceptable. These are all the considerations I could think of for this property. Despite them, I would still choose to stay here again next time. The experience was truly excellent!

The hotel was easily accessible from the station, and there were several convenience stores nearby. It was also conveniently close to a fashion market. Since it's near a market where you can find character goods and toys at reasonable prices, it would be a good choice for families with children who can walk a bit. The hotel staff were incredibly kind and made our trip enjoyable. There's no elevator, so it might be a bit challenging if you have large luggage, but the room itself was spacious and clean. It's perfect for those who just need a place to sleep after a day of exploring!

The location was amazing, plenty of good food around and walkable distance to 2 stations. There's also 2 convenient stores nearby ＜5mins! The room was clean and just nice to store 2 luggages! Everything was clean and comfortable. There is also water, coffee machine, washer and dryer and instant noodle machine on every level too. 10/10 would definitely come back here to stay, the staffs here also speak good English and are super helpful!
