📍 Kidekuja 2, Vuokatti, Sotkamo

"Room was quite good and spacious. There was even flat iron in the room, but no body lotion in a bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash was from Lumene - quite nice. Breakfast was very basic, nothing special. Public areas in the hotel are quite outdated and dark - not very cosy atmosphere"

Break Sokos Hotel Vuokatti ★★★★
"We stayed in one of the Holiday Cottages as part of the TUI 3-day Santa Claus trip. First and foremost, the surrounding area is absolutely stunning — it genuinely felt like walking through a Christmas Carol-style winter wonderland. The cottages themselves were very comfortable and well designed. The mud room was particularly useful for hanging coats and boots after snowy days. There is also a warm laundry room, a small toilet, and an excellent sauna, which was a fantastic addition and very welcome at the end of the day. The main living area contained all the essentials a family would need, including crockery and cooking facilities. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable; we are a family of four and the two-bedroom layout with four single beds worked perfectly. A double bed would have been nice, but this was a very minor point and it was easy enough to push two beds together. The cottages are around a 10-minute walk to the main hotel, although this can easily turn into 20–30 minutes if you have children who want to stop for snowball fights along the way. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. Breakfast and evening meals were buffet style and the food was very good, with plenty of choice. There were lots of gluten-free options, which was an excellent touch. I am quite a fussy eater, so the variety was particularly appreciated. The children loved being able to help themselves to drinks, and there was always a friendly member of staff nearby to help when needed. The reception staff were especially welcoming and helpful. A special thank you goes to Tuula, who sorted out a small issue for us when a coach was missed — she was fantastic. There were a couple of minor points, but nothing that would put us off staying here again. On our final night, we thought it would be nice to buy a bottle of champagne and enjoy a glass back at the cottage, but alcohol cannot be purchased and taken back, which felt a little strange. We also would have appreciated some welcome tea or coffee in the cottage. These are small details, but given the cost of the holiday, they were things we expected. If you need supplies, there is a well-stocked supermarket about a mile from the hotel. I walked there on the first evening, as half-board with young children does require snacks or light meals during the day. Families should bear this in mind, as the hotel itself does not have a shop stocking essentials. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff, food, and atmosphere were excellent, and the surroundings are truly beautiful. We were made to feel very welcome and had a fantastic trip. Thank you all for a wonderful experience."
