"We stayed there for 3 nights in January. We had booked the Chief Suite. We were given a very good welcome and taken to our room. That's where our disappointment began. For this price, we have never seen a room in this class that was so dirty and in need of renovation. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. Stains, splashed walls and the pool belonging to the apartment was also really dirty. The fly screen doors could hardly be opened and closed and there was always a gap of 2-3 cm open. And that was on both floors, so that the vermin could get into the apartment unhindered in the evening. The bathroom had a beautiful freestanding bathtub. However, the faucet was bent and bent (see picture). The door handle on the entrance door was broken. You couldn't just close the door, you always had to lock it. When you took a shower on the upper floor, the water ran through the wall on the outside facade onto the balcony. This meant that the balcony furniture was soaking wet and you couldn't use it for several hours. The small pool was also not inviting to linger, as the tile border was broken, the water skimmer/inlet was broken and looked very shabby (see picture). The glass door to the pool still had the greasy fingers of our predecessors. We complained politely about the problems on site. It was also cleaned again "superficially". Stains, the unappetizing splashes on the walls, the cobwebs and the dusty lamps were still visible. After this cleaning, however, we did not see any more of the management for two days until our departure. We therefore left two days later early in the morning without properly checking out. That is not appropriate if you want to run a hotel "price-wise" in this class."

"Just stayed 2 nights at the Archibald Hotel. Now, if you're expecting 5 star, this is not the place to go.... however... It doesn't try to be anything it isn't. Rooms were clean, well fit out and the beds were comfy. The TV was great, had a kettle, fridge and good bathroom. The wifi was strong and never let us down. The pub below is a 2 minute walk down some steps and is a great place. Food was wonderful, staff very friendly and a ripper place to have a few drinks. I enjoyed our time there and certainly felt welcome. If you're looking for good, clean but simple accommodation, (even better if you're heading to a function at Loxley) this is a great place to stay."
