Yindu International Female Only Hostel (Nanjing Xinjiekou Nanjing Confucius Temple)

9.7/10
Excellent

After a lot of research, I finally decided on Yindu, which I can confidently call the pinnacle of all-female hostels nationwide. I honestly don't think any other hostel can surpass Yindu. The location is excellent, making it super convenient for getting around. It's probably only a 6-7 minute walk from the subway station. There's a McDonald's and a police station downstairs, and an elevator which is really handy. The owner even provides fresh, sweet, and delicious watermelon. The environment is also fantastic. There are plenty of showers and toilets, so you never have to wait, and lots of hairdryers too. Sitting in the common area listening to music during downtime is very pleasant. When I checked in, the owner was very meticulous, explaining everything and introducing the facilities. All in all, Yindu is just the best!

This summer, I took my daughter to stay at the Dream Castle parent-child room at Yunxi Yasu, and choosing this accommodation for our Nanjing family trip really saved us a lot of hassle. The guesthouse's location is super convenient, making it easy to get to Hongshan Zoo, Xuanwu Lake, and Maya Water Park without long commutes, which is a big plus when traveling with kids. The room has just the right touch of childlike charm, with pink bow pillows, dessert-themed artwork, and a gentle, cute vibe. It even comes with a DIY dessert station, a complete set of children's makeup toys, and various plush dolls. My daughter was completely immersed the moment we walked in, playing quietly all afternoon. Downstairs, there are plenty of dining options; my daughter was thrilled to find Cha Yan Yue Se (a popular tea shop), and local specialties like Jiming soup dumplings and duck blood vermicelli soup are just downstairs. The overall setup is clean and thoughtful, perfectly catering to a little girl's preferences. It's highly recommended for families with young daughters who want both convenience and comfort on their travels.

I was initially asked by the hotel to leave a five-star review, but after my full stay I can’t do so in good conscience, and I have since adjusted my rating based on the second half of my booking. This was a two-part stay (two separate bookings of five days each), and while there are genuinely strong positives, the overall experience was significantly affected by ongoing service and cleanliness issues. There are still clear strengths to highlight. The location is excellent—quiet, safe, and surrounded by good restaurants, convenience stores, and a pleasant park nearby. The rooms are also very well designed: spacious, comfortable, and equipped with useful amenities such as a washing machine. The layout and overall setup make it a very livable space. The staff were, for the most part, kind and helpful. One staff member in particular was consistently warm and welcoming. When issues were raised, the team did attempt to respond professionally, and I do appreciate that some solutions were offered, including a discounted rate for a future stay. However, there were repeated concerns that affected my experience, particularly during the second half of my stay. Cleanliness remained a consistent issue. Even after rooms were serviced, dust accumulated very quickly—so much so that items like my laptop would be visibly covered overnight. This raises concerns about the overall level of cleanliness and ventilation. In addition, housekeeping services felt inconsistent. On multiple occasions I had to specifically request basic essentials such as bottled water and fresh towels, rather than these being proactively restocked daily as would normally be expected in this type of accommodation. Service consistency also varied. Some days staff would check in or ask whether I needed room cleaning, while on other days there was no such follow-up at all. This lack of routine made the experience feel unpredictable for a stay of this length. There were also concerns regarding pricing and communication during an attempted extension of my stay. I had initially paid approximately 268 rand per night (already at a discounted rate). When I asked to extend for one additional night during the May Day holiday period, I was quoted around 800 rand. While I understand that rates fluctuate during peak demand, this felt inconsistent given the earlier discount offered due to the significant issues experienced in the first rooms. The handling of this request also felt quite rigid initially, although the pricing discussion changed once I indicated I would be leaving a review. By that point, however, I had already made alternative arrangements in another city. I also noticed a change in overall tone and attentiveness from staff following my initial complaints, particularly on the day I was trying to extend my stay. In that instance, even basic housekeeping services were not offered, which contributed to a feeling of inconsistency in service. Ultimately, I think this hotel has strong potential. The location, room design, and general setup are genuinely excellent, and there are staff members who are clearly committed and welcoming. However, the inconsistency in cleanliness standards, basic housekeeping expectations, and service delivery means I cannot recommend it as a reliably high-quality stay at this stage. With more consistent attention to cleanliness and service fundamentals, this could be an excellent hotel experience—but in its current state, it falls short of that standard.

Saw Wood · Independent Youth Hostel (Nanjing Confucius Temple Xinjiekou Pedestrian Street)

The location is great, right next to Ganxi Grand House, in a standalone building. The first floor has the reception and common area, plus a bar. When checking in, you can hear people chatting and drinking in the back. The second floor is half common area and half guest rooms. The third floor is for men and the fourth for women, accessible only with a key card, which feels quite secure. The front desk staff are very enthusiastic and patiently answer all questions. The fifth floor has a terrace and laundry room, but you have to take the stairs to get there as there's no elevator for that section. Hanging laundry becomes a workout! I'm not entirely sure, but the second floor seems to be mixed-gender. The restrooms are separated by gender, but they're cramped, really cramped. Because the second floor is a common area, with people constantly coming and going, you can hear conversations and footsteps from your room at night. The soundproofing isn't great. If you're a light sleeper, you'll need earplugs.

The cleanliness and environment here are a major highlight; every area is meticulously tidy. The central air conditioning runs silently, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The front desk staff are welcoming and pleasant to communicate with. The hotel boasts a prime location right next to the ancient Qinhuai River, with all major attractions within walking distance. It's highly recommended. My stay was incredibly relaxing, and I strongly suggest it to tourists visiting from out of town. The bathroom's wet and dry separation design is well-planned and kept clean, without any dampness. The high-speed internet was consistently smooth with no lagging whatsoever. The front desk was efficient, making check-in and check-out quick. The hotel is located right at the entrance to the ancient Qinhuai, meaning popular attractions are right at your doorstep.

Reserved Family room for 4 Adults with 1 super king bed and 1 super single. If need to save money, great choice but for comfort, suitable for 3 adults. Room equipped with air-conditioning, wall TV, hair dryer, kettle, glass, coffee and tea, bottled drinking water, towel, slipper, phone, table with table lamp, blackout curtain, all toiletries such as shampoo, bath gel, tissue roll and toothbrush + toothpaste + toothbrush. Hotel equipped with free washer and dryer, handheld steamer, 24h self drinking water, lollipop, and breakfast with CNY25. Staff very friendly and attentive. Check in with passport and smooth. Initially reserved for 5 nights, but check out 1 night early (7.30pm), receptionist offered to modify the check out date via trip.com for refund a night. Quite surprised still can have refund a night from trip.com (take 7-14 days) even after usual check out time 12pm. Location wise faced to the main busy crossroads. Full of cars and a lot of electric motorcycles. Convenient with nearby food choices, Mcd, supper, convenient store and shopping malls. But not so convinence for ehailling car drop off or pick up as no waiting lobby available. Only available drop by next to main road (near traffic lights and zebra cross) with a lot of pass by electric motorcycle which found dangerous. Hotel is located at level 5 in the Old Fashion Building. There's few steps up to stairs then lift Lobby available inside the old style mall. Unfortunately, just 2 days before check out, the lift malfunction, so we need to climb up to 6th floor to use another lift to go down to first floor. During check out, we request for help to carry luggages to 6th floor, really appreciate their actions to help. Recommend their service and amenities. Location wise nothing can be change. Hopefully will improve in future.

The hotel is super convenient for transportation, it's only about a five or six-minute walk to the subway station, which is incredibly friendly for tourists! I arrived quite early because I was on an early train, and the front desk staff proactively helped me with my luggage. Their service attitude was excellent, and they even arranged for me to check in early! The price is economical and affordable, and the environment is very clean. It's incredibly good value for money!

This hotel is generally very good. The only slight drawback is that there are not enough supporting businesses around it. But this also shows from another perspective that it is relatively quiet here and suitable for accommodation.

My stay at the Nanjing Xinjiekou Jingcheng Hotel (Presidential Palace Store) exceeded my expectations! The room was clean and tidy, and the facilities were complete. The projector worked great, making it super comfortable to watch shows with friends. The location is also very convenient, close to Xinjiekou and the Presidential Palace, making it easy to get around and explore. The front desk service was warm and attentive, and they promptly resolved any issues. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Nanjing! ✨

My wife and I are trying our best to have children but it has been very challenging. We needed a place close the hospital and decided to try Qingmu hotel because it was conveniently located and looked comfortable from the outside and had mostly positive reviews on trip.com. As a foreigner who speaks very little mandarin I was concerned about communication with the hotel staff. But I was pleasantly surprised with how efficiently they handled this problem. We were able to chat with help of WeChat and google translate. They also knew more English than I thought they would. Soon we were very friendly and found a productive way to communicate my needs and get the best room possible. They also helped with our travel bags and provided water and a snack. I felt very happy and comfortable with their services and they made this feel like a home more than a hotel stay. The room was very inviting and smelled freshly cleaned. The bed was very comfortable and my wife has had back pain but said that the bed was perfect for her. It was nice that they were able to store our medication in a temperature controlled fridge while we continued to work towards conception. We had a wonderful view of the city and the bathroom had essentials to aid in freshening up between sessions. The shower had hot water and a removable head and could fit two people. We had access to a microwave oven to warm our lunch and a laundry center to catch up on our travel clothing cleaning needs. The hotel is located close to the subway and is surrounded by many restaurants and other forms of entertainment. Staying here during the Chinese New Year you could feel the festivities all around you, with brightly colored decorations and music. The hotel was also pleasantly decorated with flowers in our rooms as well as in the lobby. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great stay, for an even better price, my wife and I will definitely return here. I attached some photos of my stay below.
