GGuest UserWhen I come to Dali for a vacation, I always struggle with where to stay. After trying many places, I decisively chose the Yuanshanhai Banshan Villa Luxury Hotel. It really feels like my ideal hidden getaway.
The hotel is built into the mountain, and the environment is exceptionally quiet. Both the courtyard and the rooms have great views, and you can see Cangshan Mountain just by looking up. The rooms are designed in a villa style, offering spacious and comfortable living without feeling cramped.
It's also not far from the ancient city, making travel very convenient. You can explore the ancient city during the day and return to a peaceful rest at night. Overall, it's comfortable and relaxing, perfect for those who want to slow down and enjoy their vacation.

GGuest UserTraveling with my elderly parents, convenience was key, and I'm so glad we chose this hotel instead of staying in Haixi. Xiaguan District is where the locals live in Dali, and it's incredibly convenient for food, drinks, and entertainment. Right downstairs from the hotel, there are all sorts of local specialty restaurants. The hotel's location is excellent, and the views are simply stunning; you open the door and Erhai Lake is right there. The breakfast selection is rich, with rice noodles and regular noodles available all day. Since my elderly parents prefer simple dinners, we often asked the hotel to stir-fry two vegetable dishes and prepare some rice vermicelli for us, and they always accommodated our requests without hesitation. The service is truly exceptional – the front desk young lady was gentle and warm-hearted, and the restaurant young lady was also incredibly kind and enthusiastic. Overall, among all the hotel staff I've encountered, everyone, from the airport pick-up to the front desk and even the maintenance staff, was patient and welcoming. I would definitely choose this hotel again if I have the chance; it's particularly well-suited for families and friends traveling together.

GGuest UserJust got back from Dali and stayed here for a few nights – it was genuinely great! Here's my honest review.
The hotel has a Bai-style courtyard aesthetic, with white walls, upturned eaves, and a courtyard full of flowers and plants. The environment is quiet and peaceful, and the greenery is meticulously maintained. Sitting in the courtyard is incredibly therapeutic.
The location is really convenient. Just a short walk outside leads to the popular '网红公路' (influencer highway). It's a 10-minute drive to Dali Ancient City, and about 20 minutes to the Three Pagodas and Cangshan Mountain. It's also right next to Dali University, so there are tons of snack shops around, and plenty of options for takeout.
The amenities are comprehensive, including a swimming pool and a gym. For those driving, there's a free underground parking garage. The breakfast buffet offers both Chinese and Western options, and the taste is decent.
The front desk staff were incredibly helpful; they even gave us a free room upgrade. They were also very responsive when we asked for directions or needed anything. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Dali.

AAnonymous User1. **Check-in Area:** The check-in counter, or front desk, was quite shabby. The computer keyboard was practically caked in grime, and don't even get me started on the sofa next to it – it looked very unhygienic.
2. **Dining:** The breakfast area was a bit cramped, with just four small tables by the street. If you're a party of more than two, you'd have to sit separately, or you might even have to stand and wait for a table. The coffee, however, was good. I only had breakfast once: a cold quinoa salad (see Photo 6) served with bread that had an overpowering artificial creamer flavor. I had been looking forward to the rice noodles for the next day, but serving didn't start until 8:30 AM, which was far too late for my rumbling stomach. Early risers and those who prefer hot meals should seriously consider other options or make alternative arrangements.
3. **Room (2nd floor) - Noise Issues:** Don't even think about getting any sleep at night. After 11 PM, there was still noise along the street, along with the clanging of the garbage truck. (Seriously, I'd strongly advise against staying in the Old Town.) The next day, it started pouring before dawn, and the sound of the heavy rain kept me awake as well.
4. **Room - Facility Issues:** The room I stayed in was supposedly the quietest in the entire hotel. It featured a large bathtub and a bathroom where the toilet and shower area lacked wet/dry separation. Unable to deal with the wet floor, I decided to shower in the bathtub. That's when I discovered Problem #1: the glass partition was completely transparent, with no curtain or frosted glass. The staff member claimed this was 'design.' Then came Fatal Problem #2: the bathtub had no running water, haha! 😄
5. **Room - Odor Issues:** Upon entering, there was a strong musty smell. The staff claimed it was due to 'raw wood,' but it's been 8 years and it still smells like that? Quite amusing.
6. **Staff (Pre-Check-in):** Before I even checked in, they asked me to cancel my booking on the platform and pay them privately for a discounted rate. I have this in writing. This is definitely a huge red flag, and I'm surprised they even dared to suggest it.
7. **Staff (General):** The individuals themselves were nice enough, but I was surprised to find that all the 'Jixiashan' staff were quite young, without uniforms, and seemingly without direct supervision, which gave a very disorganized and casual impression.
8. **Housekeeping:** I was quite satisfied with the housekeeping. Seeing the clean duvet and towels gave me peace of mind (P.S. the pillows were also comfortable). The hotel's facilities are very old; no matter how clean the bathroom tiles were, they still looked run-down, compounded by the dim lighting. Therefore, I feel the housekeeping staff here really have a tough job.
9. **Building Structure:** One morning, during a heavy downpour, when I opened my 2nd-floor room door, the entrance was essentially flooded up to my heels. It was quite a feat that the water didn't spread into the room. At night, there were no lights, so I had to grope my way back to the room along the dark corridor. It would be quite difficult for someone who doesn't remember their way (see Photos 1-2).
10. **Hotel Amenities:** One night, I heard the guest next door return, unable to open their door with the key, and had to call a staff member for help. They chatted for a bit outside the door before the staff member finally told the guest a 'trick': 'The key needs to be inserted a certain way, and the lock has a particular mechanism...' That's quite a struggle – needing a special technique just to get back to your room!
11. **Minor Details:** The room key had a very large, bulky leather tag attached to it. Absolutely no consideration for travelers on long journeys with limited luggage space. Who would want to carry such a bulky thing around?
I originally had high hopes for the 'Jixiashan' brand. When I was in Shangri-La, I heard their Meili store had a collaboration with Kolon, which made me think they had good taste. This Dali Ancient City location is their first store, but it turned out to be such a low standard. Given the daily rate, I guess I understand why. This particular store cannot be found on 'Jixiashan's' mini-program; it's categorized under 'Wang Shenme Chuan Qu Le'.

HHgeeeyThis B&B has a Mediterranean style and the ambiance is absolutely perfect. The room's interior design is top-notch, and you can enjoy distant views of Erhai Lake. The butler service was incredibly attentive; they offered complimentary pick-up to the hotel, helped with our luggage, and even had an electric cart to take us anywhere in the village. We also received a thoughtful souvenir upon check-out. Breakfast and afternoon tea were both plentiful and delicious. Coming back to Dali after many years, choosing this hotel as our first stop was an excellent decision! ❤️

HHuke_ZBooked this hotel in Dali with my girlfriend. It's located on the hillside right next to Dali Ancient City, so it's quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel grounds are beautiful, almost like a park, with all independent villas. For some of the further rooms, they even offer a shuttle service. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, always smiling and greeting guests, and helped us take our luggage to the room. The room itself was elegantly decorated and comfortable. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and I'll try a different room type next time.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located on Yuji Island, right next to Yang Liping's Sun Palace, offering a superb location. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with stylish amenities. It boasts an amazing lake view, and it was so relaxing to sip tea, enjoy the scenery, and just unwind on the room's terrace. I especially want to praise the service! They contacted me in advance to tell me where to meet for luggage, and the butler picked us up and guided us on a 10-minute walk to the hotel. They brought us a fruit platter, and even made us coffee in the afternoon. The breakfast spread was fantastic with various options like rice noodles and regular noodles. The restaurants they recommended were all delicious and affordable. Highly, highly recommend!
