11363128****I made a last-minute decision to travel solo and hastily booked an Airbnb near the airport the night before. It ended up exceeding all my expectations!
First, the Airbnb offers airport pickup service, so I was able to get straight into the car upon landing and head directly to the accommodation. The room decor was cozy and charming, and having a bathtub really helped wash away the fatigue of the journey. The host was incredibly welcoming; when I overslept, they even made sure to call me down for breakfast. They also packed some delicious flower cookies for me to take on my way, setting a perfect mood for the first day of my trip!
The view from the rooftop is also fantastic!

ZZanjiadesanbaoThis hotel is absolutely stunning. In bustling Dali, finding such an oasis of tranquility is truly a rare gem. Even just unwinding on the balcony is pure bliss. The hotel also has an incredibly adorable, well-behaved, chubby cat! I absolutely adored my stay here. I only wish I had booked for longer; I'll definitely extend my stay next time. It completely surpassed all my expectations.
During peak season, I'd highly recommend avoiding Shuanglang – it's too noisy and congested. Stay here instead; it feels like you have Erhai Lake all to yourself. Seriously, you *must* book this hotel (and for more than a couple of nights if you can!), you won't regret it!

MM372208****The hotel is conveniently located 2.2 kilometers from the train station and a mere 5-minute walk to the pier. From your room, facing Erhai Lake, you can soak in the beautiful scenery whether you're on the balcony, the sofa, or even lying in bed. The occasional sound of a boat's horn adds to the serene and tranquil atmosphere. You'll feel completely content even if you don't step out!
The service is incredibly thoughtful and attentive, always anticipating guests' needs. The complimentary pick-up and drop-off service to the station saved us a lot of hassle. They even warmly provided us with a Dali travel guide and tips on avoiding tourist traps, which gave us an extra sense of peace of mind!
The room was clean and tidy, with well-equipped and functional amenities, including a scenic bathtub. They even provided disposable bath bags, truly showing an exceptional attention to detail!

MM463099****The luckiest thing about my trip to Dali was choosing this guesthouse. I stayed for 4 days, and the owner's service was impeccable from before check-in until I left. Not only did he send a detailed guide and navigation in advance, but he also personally went to the bus station to help us with our luggage and explained routes using his self-made map. It felt like having a local friend. The room was super spacious, with views of Erhai Lake, and was decorated cleanly and cozily. The bedding was also very comfortable. The guesthouse, both inside and out, was meticulously maintained. Right at the entrance, there's a book wall, which is a great photo op. The location is also excellent, only a ten-minute walk from the city center, making it convenient for dining and shopping. All in all, it was a perfect stay, and I highly recommend it!

GGuest UserA small guesthouse nestled in the bustling heart of Dali Ancient City. With only ten rooms, each one, though not large, is thoughtfully designed with clever touches. It seems all the staff are female, and their service is incredibly attentive. The welcome tea and refreshments made me feel instantly relaxed and comfortable.
What truly stands out is the breakfast. It's incredibly luxurious, served as a full-course meal: appetizer, pre-meal soup, a main protein dish, a staple main course, a drink during the meal, and finally, fruit and yogurt. For instance, the main protein dishes included abalone and millet sea cucumber, while the staple main courses offered options like beef noodles, beef rice vermicelli, and wontons. It was an incredibly lavish and satisfying meal. To top it off, they even gave us a thoughtful farewell gift upon departure, making the whole experience truly memorable.
The staff were incredibly patient, offering tons of advice on everything from local eateries and sightseeing spots to transportation options like taxis. Even without a detailed itinerary, their help ensured I had a wonderful and comfortable trip. Many thanks!

LLixiaobaoI was initially concerned that the Xiaomei King Room, which lacked air conditioning, would be hot and small. However, it was nothing of the sort – it was absolutely stunning, and the service was impeccable! My elderly companion did mention that the noise from duvets being washed at night made it difficult for her to fall asleep. Despite this, overall, we were very pleased. I had planned to visit the wetland park for the sunset, but a staff member advised there was no need, as we could enjoy the view directly from their property! They even provided a complimentary farewell gift upon our departure!

CChijiaohuahuaThe hotel is conveniently located right next to the South Gate of Dali Ancient City, making it super easy to get in and out. There are tons of dining options nearby. The private parking lot is a huge plus for self-driving tourists. Our room was spacious, clean, and the amenities were all high quality. For breakfast, you can request your preferred items in advance and have them delivered directly to your room, which is great for enjoying a meal without even leaving! We opted to eat in the second-floor restaurant and enjoyed breakfast with a beautiful view of Cangshan Mountain. Overall, the hotel has a fantastic location, new rooms, excellent facilities, a great environment, and top-notch service. We'll definitely choose to stay here again on our next trip to Dali Ancient City!

SshunshunmamaThe entire guesthouse feels like a French manor, facing Erhai Lake with beautiful blue skies and white clouds. The environment is absolutely stunning! The service was even better, with the housekeeper contacting us a day in advance and providing meticulous care throughout our stay. From helping with luggage to driving us out for meals, they even thoughtfully prepared facial masks for the ladies in the room, perfect for Dalian's dry plateau sun. The complimentary afternoon tea was superb; the coffee beans were of good quality, with a pleasant mild acidity and aroma. The cake was substantial and delicious. Sitting in the coffee shop, overlooking Erhai Lake, we had a delightful afternoon. The travel photography service was excellent too – beautiful scenery combined with a dedicated photographer made for a really enjoyable experience! Overall, we were extremely satisfied with this stay!

GGuest UserOur stay was absolutely exceptional, and it's the human touch that makes this hotel truly outstanding.
First, the basics: the facilities are awesome, and the rooms are impressively clean, comfortable, and new. Everything you'd expect from a great hotel is here.
But what moved us most was the genuine human touch. A special thank you to Xiao Shi. When we needed to do laundry, she kindly helped us arrange an outside service. However, the price was quite high, so we decided against it. Noticing our slight dilemma, and knowing that we were out and about in between itinerary, Xiao Shi went above and beyond – she personally helped wash our laundry to ensure we had clean clothes for our trip. This gesture of genuine care was unexpected and unforgettable.
Furthermore, the warmth of the owner couple made us feel like family. They always made time for a friendly chat whenever we crossed paths, asking about our day and offering local tips. They even gifted us with the local flower cookies when we left.
While the physical amenities are excellent, it's this profound level of personal care and hospitality that sets this hotel apart. Highly recommended to anyone looking for travel lodging with real heart and warmth!

TT.W.LBooked the family room at courtyard level as I had elderly and wanted an accommodation which is easy to access. I also did not want to be hoisting luggages up and down and over cobbled streets in the old town and somewhere along the city wall so it is easy to start our tour of the sights around Dali in the morning.
Room: Simple efficient clean layout with open concept. Rooms are relatively new. Sink area is located outside the bathroom which is good. The beds are hard in my opinion but elder felt the bed was comfortable. Bottled water was provided everyday (left outside our door). Room Temperature control was ok and the hot water for the shower heated up quick and could maintain at a stable level which is a plus unlike some other hotels in Yunnan.
There is flight of 3-4 steps to room which is manageable for our elder as the room is slightly raised above the courtyard. We had an early check-in as the room was ready. The staff helped us move the luggages to our room. You could also book the entire courtyard for larger groups. The owner is building additional new rooms in the annex but the construction happens during the day and it is not noisy as most guests would be out.
Location:
It is near the South Gate (there is a local market nearby check the maps or ask the owner) and our local driver could stop right outside our accommodation.
We didn’t get breakfast from the bnb as there were food shops offering noodles, congee and fried dumplings around that open early at 7am. You can also make your way to the local market near the gate. You could also go up the South Gate for free to catch the sunrise or sunset view.
Touring around Dali
If you can comms in Chinese, you could message the owner ahead to assist to arrange for a car transfer from Dali Fengyi Airport or the Dali Railway station to the BnB. It cost RMB50 for us from the Railway station to the BnB. You could also arrange with him for a day driver to take you around the sight seeing places around Dali /Erhai Lake, Mt Cang or a driver to send you to Lijiang. We felt was more efficient and relaxing with an elder. It took ~3h drive instead of travelling south to the Dali train station to ride the train to Lijiang and finding a cab from Lijiang railway to the old Lijiang ancient city.
You could also easily catch a Didi or a cab which could be cheaper. A cab/car ride to the 3 Chong Sen Temple pagodas was about 10rmb for 3-4pax which is comparable to waiting for Bus 4 which cost 3rmb per pax.
