"【Location】The hotel's location isn't ideal, a bit secluded. It's surrounded by Japanese residential homes. If you want to eat or go out, you'll need to walk about 12 minutes to Kawaguchiko Station. The hotel is on a hillside, so it's on a slope. If you have luggage, you can reserve the hotel's shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko Station. It's most convenient if you're driving. We hired a car from Hakone, which cost 900 JPY for an Alphard for 1 hour and 13 minutes. The hotel offers a free shuttle service from 8 AM to 10 AM, round-trip to Platform 10 of Kawaguchiko Station (at 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM) and Fujikyu Highland Bus Stop (at 2:15 PM, 5:00 PM). It's a 900-meter, 12-minute walk to Kawaguchiko Station, or a 600 JPY taxi ride. There's a large supermarket nearby. 【Highlights】You can enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Fuji from every floor! The rooftop terrace is available for BBQ. Considering the inconvenience of dining nearby, we opted for a 'one-night, two-meals' plan, which includes breakfast and dinner. Dinner is either Japanese yakiniku (grilled meat) or sukiyaki. Breakfast is delivered to your room. There are also limited-edition Mount Fuji cakes. The rooms are equipped with smart devices, projectors, kitchen facilities, toiletries, tea bags, coffee beans, and BBQ equipment. It's perfect for a group of friends looking to rent an entire villa. 【Check-in/Check-out Info】Check-in is at 3:00 PM, with the latest check-in at 8:00 PM. Pros: The location is superb, directly opposite Mount Fuji, though I only had a couple of hours of view during my two or three-day stay. The hotel was very clean. I had dinner at the hotel both nights, including sukiyaki in the room one night, which was quite good. The service was excellent, and the price was reasonable. Cons: The rooms were a bit small and dated for the several thousand yuan per night price, making the overall value poor. The hotel is a camping-themed hotel, so if you're not interested in camping, there's no need to spend so much money on a stay at Hoshino.

A short drive from Lake Yamanaka, we checked into here for the night—mainly because we wanted to explore the area and try the region’s famous Hōtō noodles. We chose a traditional Japanese futon room for the experience. That meant laying out our own beds—slightly clumsy, a bit of trial and error, and a lot of laughing when we realised there’s no “redo” once everything’s set. The weather had a chill to it, so the onsen became the highlight. Stepping into the hot water while the cold air lingered outside—it slowed everything down in a way you don’t realise you need. Nothing extravagant, nothing overly planned. Just the four of us, figuring things out as we went. Looking back, it wasn’t the hotel or even the lake—it was those small, unpolished moments that made the night feel complete.

This is my second time here. The hotel is nestled at the foot of the mountain, very quiet and secluded. The only downside is that the supermarket next to the hotel closes at 5 PM, so I couldn't buy any local specialties. They said Alipay was accepted, but it didn't work. The front desk staff seemed quite untrained; they couldn't even handle a simple payment. The room, as always, was excellent. It would be even better if they added a Bluetooth speaker.
