"Our forth visit to the Eagle and Child, we called in for Sunday lunch. Great parking across the road from the pub, we arrived just after twelve o'clock to a great welcome from the staff very helpful and friendly, she gave us the main menu and pointed out the specials on the board . we ordered our meals which arrived promptly and the food was hot and delicious, we had chosen the roast beef dinner from the menu and both were good portions and good quality at a very reasonable price as were the drinks. well worth a visit. thanks again to staff"

"Been going to this place for many years and always enjoyed it. A revisit after quite a while with friends for lunch found the Eagle on a bad day. Same great drinking place full of atmosphere and a welcoming fire. Service informal, friendly and efficient. Great selection of beers. Cost and characterful rooms. But all the food was disappointing. The fish was badly cooked and not thawed properly. The chips were soggy and tasteless. The pies were famous for the wrong reasons . In short we must have gone on a bad day although Friday lunches would tend to be busy. After several five star reviews in the past, we departed disappointed"
