"We very much enjoyed our first stay here in September 2022. This year our stay was spoilt by the incomprehensible attitude of the on-site Director. As returning guests, we received no greeting from him or even an acknowledgement of our arrival; thereafter, he did his best to ignore us and was rude and uncommunicative when asked to do anything. Although helpful prior to arrival, the front desk had been instructed not to assist with restaurant bookings. On the other hand the female support staff were pleasant and helpful, when allowed to be, even though appearing overstretched at times, making the Director's behaviour even more astonishing. There were other issues; carrying out major works on the plantation for many days, which intruded on our peace and privacy and failure to air clothes cupboards properly between stays, leaving them smelling stale. This place no longer justifies it's prices."

The Araucaria casita was very nice and cozy, the breakfasts and the staff who prepared them are great, and the place and surroundings are fantastic. We spent a few spectacular days as a couple. We will definitely return."

Golden Club Cabanas

"Golden Club Cabanas Review We stayed at the Golden Club Cabanas for a week in May through RCI. The setting is absolutely wonderful, right in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The beach can only be reached by boat, with a regular shuttle running throughout the day, which adds to the experience. Guests do have to wear a wristband all week to show the boat captain, which we personally found a little cumbersome and irritating. Cabanas itself is lovely and makes a great base for exploring Faro, Tavira and the beautiful wetlands of the Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim e Vila Real de Santo António. Sadly, the Golden Club resort itself feels very tired and in real need of refurbishment, which is a shame because it has so much potential. Our apartment was spacious but clearly neglected in places. The floor coverings on the landings were particularly dirty and could really do with a deep clean. The evening entertainment was also very loud and continued until around 11pm each night, which may bother lighter sleepers. One thing to be aware of is that there are no duvets on the beds. We were only provided with a sheet and bedspread, and even with the extra blanket from the wardrobe we still felt cold at times. If you use the air conditioning for heating, be warned that electricity is charged separately and quite expensively — we paid over €40 for the week. The apartment was also rather sparsely equipped for self-catering. We were only given very small tumblers and would have appreciated some proper glasses for water, wine or beer. No washing-up liquid or scourer was provided initially, although reception did supply them quickly once we asked. Our dishwasher didn’t work when we arrived, but to be fair it was replaced very promptly after we reported it. However, no dishwasher tablets were provided. Despite all of this, would we return? Honestly, yes — in a flash if we found a cheap flight again. The stay only cost us around 25,000 RCI points, so in many ways you do get what you pay for. The location really is superb and with some investment the resort could be fantastic."

"The first night they went out by the bathroom, the owner supposedly smoked. The next night they started out by the hall. For the third night we no longer stayed as there were hormigs up to bed. I still expect you to return the cost of last night."

"We wanted to thank Maria João and Vitor for the pleasant stay at their property. The setting is very peaceful, nestled in the Tavira countryside, just a few kilometers from the town center. Mr. Vitor is a delightful and truly courteous person. A place we recommend to anyone who wants to relax and isn't looking for the sea just across the road. And last but not least: the night sky from here is worth it."
