"Three stars. Two for the hardware, one for the pool and breakfast. First, the good points: the hotel's hardware truly lives up to a five-star standard. The decor is very thoughtfully designed, extensively using travertine elements. The high ceilings and overall design are quite grand, clearly showing significant investment in the physical infrastructure. Breakfast offers a rich variety of both Western and Chinese dishes. Most commendable is the swimming pool, which is 35 meters long and has excellent water quality – a definite plus for swimming enthusiasts. However, my biggest impression after staying was: The hotel's hardware is five-star, but the staff's professional training seems to be lacking. Upon check-in, I asked the front desk about the hot spring water quality: Do you have a water quality test report? What specific mineral elements are in the hot spring water, and what are their effects on the human body? This question shouldn't be considered tricky, as the hot spring itself is one of the hotel's key offerings. The front desk couldn't answer, so they called the lobby manager for assistance. The lobby manager also couldn't provide an accurate answer. Later, the lobby manager brought the water quality test report to my room. I expected a professional explanation, but his exact words were roughly: “We did a water quality report, but I can't understand the trace elements written on it, so you can just look at it yourself.” Frankly, upon hearing that, I didn't even know whether to critique the hotel's hot spring or its training system. I don't expect every five-star hotel employee to be a professional检测人员 (testing specialist), but at the very least, for a hotel's own core product, employees should know basic information. For a test report actively provided to guests by the hotel, employees should at least have basic interpretation and communication skills. If the ultimate service approach is: “We have the report, but I can't understand it, so you can figure it out yourself.” Then why would guests bother consulting hotel staff? Moreover, I wasn't deliberately testing the staff's professional knowledge; I was simply asking basic questions about the hotel's own product before using it, as any guest would. The second issue was room hygiene. There was dust and dirt in certain areas and dead corners of the room. When the lobby manager delivered the report, I also casually asked if the room had been inspected by a quality control specialist and if any issues found had been rectified. The explanation I received was: Yes, there was QC, but the room had been airing out after cleaning, so dust accumulating was normal. This explanation once again broadened my horizons. Apparently, in a five-star hotel's quality control standards, “dust accumulation due to airing out after cleaning” can be considered normal. Then I can't help but wonder: Does QC check if the room is clean, or does it check if the hotel can find a reasonable explanation for why it's not clean? I understand that hotel rooms cannot be completely sterile and dust-free, and I wouldn't make a big deal out of a little dust. But the problem is, when a guest points out an actual hygiene issue, the hotel's first reaction isn't to acknowledge and resolve the problem, but to tell the guest, “This is normal.” This is even more disappointing than the dust itself. Finally, there's one detail that I believe hotel management should particularly reflect on. I carefully read the responses from the guest service center on Ctrip to other negative reviews. In one case, a guest complained about poor service attitude, but the hotel's reply mentioned that the guest had previously requested a room upgrade which was not fulfilled. This kind of reply is subtle. The guest was commenting on service attitude, but the hotel brought up the fact that the guest had previously requested an upgrade, which easily creates an implication: “Did this guest give a negative review because their upgrade request wasn't met?” As a consumer, I'm genuinely curious if this hotel, when facing negative feedback, tends to solve problems or tends to explain “why it's the guest's problem.” So, I'll preemptively ask this question for the hotel: I wonder if I'll receive a similar reply after this review is published? If so, rest assured, this review has absolutely nothing to do with upgrades, compensation, or complimentary benefits. I am simply a regular guest who asked a few normal questions during my stay and then discovered: Hot spring water quality – staff couldn't explain it clearly; Test report – staff couldn't even understand it themselves; Room hygiene – there were issues, but they could be explained as “dust due to ventilation”; Service reviews – as for why guests give negative reviews, the hotel seems more adept at finding answers in what requests the guest had previously made. So, the three stars are not because the hotel isn't aesthetically pleasing, nor because the facilities aren't luxurious. On the contrary, the most regrettable aspect of this hotel is that its hardware is clearly superior to its service. Travertine, high ceilings, pool, breakfast – these have all established the “face” of a five-star hotel. But what truly makes a five-star hotel valuable is never just how beautifully decorated the lobby is, but whether staff can professionally answer guests' questions, whether rooms can pass quality inspection, and whether, when faced with guest feedback, they can truly solve problems instead of rushing to explain why the problem isn't a problem. If only judging by the decor, I would give five stars; if judging by the complete stay experience, I can only give three stars at present. I hope the hotel's next real improvement isn't another piece of travertine, but rather staff training, room quality control, and service awareness."

The bedding was incredibly soft; even for someone like me who usually struggles to sleep in new places, I slept soundly until morning. The pillow height was just perfect too. In the evening, snuggling under the covers watching a movie on the projector with a cup of milk tea created the most wonderful atmosphere. The attention to detail is remarkable – soft towels were provided on the vanity, and all the toiletries had a luxurious feel to their packaging. There's also a book bar on the third floor of the B&B, and you can tell the books were personally selected by the owner. It was such a peaceful and lovely experience flipping through the pages there. What truly stood out was the incredible warmth of the owners. From check-in to check-out, they took care of everything with such thoughtfulness, and our conversations felt as comfortable as chatting with old friends. For breakfast, they prepared local specialties and fresh fruit, and tea was always available. Many small details were meticulously pre-arranged. The location is also convenient, with convenience stores and snack shops nearby, so late-night cravings are never an issue. The area is quiet with excellent soundproofing, leading to a significant improvement in sleep quality. In short, my stay was incredibly relaxing, like a much-needed recharge. Great owners, great environment, great service, and a very reasonable price – the value for money is simply unbeatable. The next time I visit this city, I will definitely choose to stay here again. The design blends Eastern Zen aesthetics with modern simplicity, creating a tranquil and stylish atmosphere that makes you instantly forget the hustle and bustle of city life. The front desk staff provided delightful service with warm smiles, making us feel right at home. We received a welcome fruit platter upon check-in, and the service throughout our stay was attentive and polite without being intrusive. The housekeeping staff meticulously cleaned our room every day. Any requests made to the front desk were promptly addressed. As for the hot spring experience, our room was conveniently located next to an outdoor hot spring pool. The water quality is genuine hot spring water! After a soak, our skin felt incredibly smooth, and we experienced a significant sense of relaxation. The public hot spring area offers various functional pools, all clean with well-managed crowd control, ensuring good privacy. This was definitely the most worthwhile part of our trip – enjoying a warm spring bath under the starry sky. The breakfast quality was decent, served semi-buffet style, with a rich selection of both Chinese and Western options, as well as local specialties like Yunnan rice noodles, providing a great start to the day. The room itself was spacious and elegantly designed. The bedding was super soft and comfortable, ensuring a dreamless night's sleep until morning. The overall experience was superb, offering excellent value for money. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tengchong!"
