Le Belvédère

"Other reviews vary between glowing and derogatory and we can understand why. Le Belvédère is a charming house with extensive gardens and a lovely pool. Our room was spacious and comfortable but the shower needed fixing. The food was delicious. Our host, William, was attentive and willing. He runs the hotel with the chef who we did not meet. But only having two members of staff does not work. William has far too many tasks to complete, so guests are left waiting for inordinate lengths of time to be served drinks and meals. The relaxed, chilled atmosphere that he tries to create turns to frustration among the guests. The hotel has the potential to be an exceptional place to stay but the slow service needs to be remedied before we would rate it as more than average."

"Situated in the heart of the Dordogne this hotel is as good as it gets! I spent four nights there in April on a business trip and it was a perfect location and an absolute pleasure. The hotel owner was very friendly and hospitable, she went out of her way to make the visit as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts were excellent, with lots of tasty local produce. The bedroom was large, clean and very quiet at night. The bed was extremely comfortable and I've rarely, if ever, had better sleeps four nights in a row. The Dordogne region is one of the most beautiful in France and if you are looking for an authentic and welcoming hotel, you should definitely consider this hotel. EamonnG"
