Swahili House ★★★★
"We had an amazing stay at Villa Swahili in Tiwi Beach! The villa is beautifully located with a stunning view over the ocean, and the pool area is absolutely fantastic – the perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. A special highlight was the food. Our chef Malakel prepared incredibly delicious meals for us every day – truly outstanding! We were also very impressed by the hospitality. Manager Gilbert was extremely friendly, attentive, and always made sure we were comfortable. Thanks to the wonderful team and this beautiful place, we had a truly unforgettable time. We would highly recommend Villa Swahili and would love to come back someday!"
Ritam Getaways ★★★
Hillpark Amare Resort ★★★
"I want to clarify that I chose this resort for two reasons: its distance from Diani Beach (and its intrusive beach boys) and its semi-private beach and ocean-view pool. Indeed, the view from the resort is magnificent; it's certainly the best location on the entire coast. As for beach boys, there aren't any at all because the beach is very secluded. However, aside from these two positive points, everything else was negative due to the hotel's dilapidated state and lack of staff. During my stay, only three accommodations were occupied (even though there are dozens available). I felt like I was in a ghost hotel. Apart from a few hotel employees, we were practically the only guests: unbelievable! After speaking with a local guest who has been a regular at the hotel for a long time, I learned that the resort suffers from a serious management problem, which has impacted occupancy rates and therefore profitability. Ultimately, maintenance is no longer being carried out properly due to a lack of funds and staff. Aside from the security team, I counted no more than 15 employees, despite the resort's enormous size. There is a glaring understaffing, meaning that even basic maintenance work is not being performed. Here is a list of the defects observed: - Lawns not watered, therefore completely yellow and scorched by the sun - Flowers and plants not watered (dead aloe vera near the restaurant pool) - Pools not vacuumed (sea sand at the bottom) - Outdated plastic sun loungers, torn beach mattresses - Pool surround not cleaned (cigarette butts not picked up) - Mosaic floor of the pool partially torn off - Broken and dangerous pool overflow (loose stones and rusty metal parts), a child could easily be injured by falling through it. - Gardens not cleaned (dead palm branches on the ground can remain for several days) - Open electrical junction boxes in wet rooms (sinks and showers): real risk of electrocution - Aging cottages open to the wind - Fitness room closed - Beach not cleaned by staff (it's a real dump!) - Poor quality restaurant with very slow service (45 minutes to bring out 3 plates) (frozen fish…). Due to a lack of customers, the food served in the restaurant is frozen, even the fish, even though we're only 500 meters from fishermen's huts! And the best for last: - Monkeys manage to get into the cottages and help themselves to your food and supplies (security recommends locking everything in cupboards). - The hotel's generator wasn't working when there was a power outage (broken or out of fuel?). - Tuk-tuks don't go to the resort (the road is in terrible condition): the taxi fare to Diani Beach varies from €21 to €30 round trip. Given that the resort is empty and has no other activities, you have to get to Diani Beach somehow."
