"Have been here before but only for drinks. As the weather wasn't good enough to sit outside we decided to have lunch. Hadn't booked but was shown to a table straight away. Ordered drinks and chose from the menu. We had Devon pasty with chips and the Exeter Burger which were delicious. Would definitely recommend."

"We had a lovely family stay here over the Christmas season. The cottage is spotless and the owners very kind and helpful. Would highly recommend if you want a away from it all holiday. Excellent near by pubs are The Village Inn (3 miles a nice walk if you like that) and the Rydon Inn about a 15 minute drive. Both had amazing food and service."

"The most idyllic, peaceful location just perfect for an away from it all stay. Made even better, by wonderful hosts Jeremy and Linda. We were looking for a tranquil break and somewhere we could leave our motorcycle. After a phone with Jeremy, he put our minds at rest that we could leave it in the garage (barn). We stayed in The Honeysuckle 1 bed cottage for 3 nights. The cottages are immaculate in their cleanliness and perfectly equipped. Downe Cottages are a real credit to them. They have been created so beautifully and the surroundings of the farm make you not want to leave. Following suggestions from Jeremy, we visited Hartland Quay and were lucky enough to have an evening meal, whilst enjoying an amazing sunset. When you find a gem like this, you almost don’t want to leave a review, you want to keep it a hidden secret, but it’s too good not to share. Thank you both for a wonderful stay and we hope to see you again."

"Had the pleasure of staying there with my wife for 2 nights as a birthday surprise by our son. The hotel is very clean, the staff were very helpful and the food was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole experience was fabulous. If you like your walking and exploring, this is a must for you. The only downside for us, was the location being a bit out of the way, as we like to go out for a drink, then get a taxi back to finish off in the bar. Made to feel very welcome though and enjoyed our stay very much. Well done to all of the staff."

"We had lamb and beef dishes for dinner here. Both dishes were exceptional don’t hesitate to stop by. Quiet pub with lovely relaxed atmosphere and very very good food . Chef prepared GF alternative jus for my beef which was absolutely incredible melt in mouth medium rare. Top notch food at small local pub. My husband had the lamb which was also v v good."

"No A/C in the rooms in this hotel but that’s not the biggest issue. Trafalgar Tours billeted us here but our room only has a very tiny desk fan, and they would not give us another from an unoccupied room “ in case someone else checks in”. Ah, how about we cross the bridge when we get there? We are in the middle of the worst European heat wave! No concept of going above and beyond for a customer, which I don’t think my request even is. The hotel is not fully occupied but even switching to a bigger fan was “impossible” because they’re all the same size, reception claimed. I know for a fact, they’re not, because I have relatives in another room and they have a much bigger( normal size) one. When I pointed this out, they said they can’t go around every room to check. I think ensuring your guests’ comfort, especially during this time, is the least you can do. I guess I should thank my lucky stars I can even open the window because the ones in the upper floor, CAN’T even do that! Oh, yeah, wi-fi sucks, too. Thank goodness, it’s cooling down tonight but can’t imagine how hot it will be tomorrow during the day. Durrant House Hotel is a no-go."

"We booked a stay at the Kings Arms for a family wedding nearby. Now I’m very fussy, but wow 🤩 ! Rooms were immaculate, modern with everything you need , breakfast to die for . Our hosts Jill & Ash were absolutely amazing . We arrived early however they were more than happy to open up and had our rooms ready within minutes. Nothing was to much trouble . Issue with taxis , Jill sorted it and got us to the wedding on time . The following morning My car broke down. Not a problem! Jill jumped in , calling mechanics and even got her own tool kit out in an attempt to help. Although she was busy with the changeover she made time to make copious amounts of cups of tea to see us through ! I’m a business owner myself and I have to say , The kings Arms are amazing in every aspect! Customer service, food, beautiful accommodation and fantastic hosts . I will definitely be recommending this place and I wish them both all the best for the future Xxx"
