"We stayed at the Goliath Hotel in Regensburg for two nights this August, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations, especially for a hotel that markets itself as five-star. The most noticeable shortcomings were evident at breakfast. Despite calling ahead to request gluten-free bread for my husband, who has an allergy, we were informed on the first morning that they had run out. This was incredibly disappointing and, frankly, a first in our many years of traveling. Additionally, we were never provided with any breakfast menus, which added to the overall sense of disorganization. The hotel’s decor also leaves much to be desired. While not entirely unpleasant, the rooms felt outdated, lacking the modern touch you'd expect from a high-end establishment. The overall ambiance did not match the luxury suggested by the hotel's rating. In retrospect, the price we paid should have been a warning that this is not a true five-star hotel. At best, it aligns more with a three-star experience. If you're looking for genuine luxury in Regensburg, I would recommend exploring other options."

"This is now my go to hotel in Amberg, it’s central, modern clean and tidy. All the rooms are a little different which is nice when you stay in a lot of hotels! The bar is on the top floor and has a roof terrace which you can look out over the city. The only negative is the bar isn’t open late during the week and not open every night which for a hotel is a must."

"Yet another wonderful couple of days spent as guests of the Hotel Hirschen. My wife and I love this hotel and stay every year on our way to Bavaria driving from the U.K. It is a perfect stop-over for us. The " posh " rooms are superb. Comfortable, quiet with great beds and a superb power shower. And then , each evening, a quick stroll over the road to the hotel restaurant that serves delicious dinners. Clever, innovative cooking. All beatifully served and on this occassion, I tried my very first " Bavarian Single Malt Whisky " ! As I think I have said before on previous reviews, the Hotel Hirschen is family owned and run and it clearly shows with how they value their guests. Oh and as a final plus , I am a car nut and need somwhere to park which is safe and secure for my beloved boy and the hotel has a large car park. Highly recommended !"

"Location is good. The beds are too soft for us. I was informed house keeping would only clean the room every two days since we stayed four nights in a row. However they just changed towels and grab garbage away but didn’t notice at all we were run out of toilet paper and the floor was dirty. While we were back at night, the house keeping already off work. 🫤"

No food or restaurant outside of breakfast Service can be a little friendlier though. Smiles are a rare commodity here, just an observation. Definitely not close to a standard Hilton level."

The service was very friendly and nice; the food was very tasty and quantitative, as qualitatively excellent. Located in the middle of the old town, not 100 m from the nearest parking place, it is an ideal place to take a break."
