Youngtown Inn

"We enjoyed our stay but I wanted to add a few suggestions that might be helpful. First, we loved that the location was near everything we wanted to see - we previously stayed in Camden and yes, that can get a bit busy with traffic, etc....So if you are looking to stay a few miles away from the commercialism, then this is a nice place to relax. One of the things I've noticed about B&Bs that also have a pub/restaurant located on site is the lack of parking during the dinner hours. The parking lot for Youngtown Inn maybe holds 20 vehicles at the same time and when we stayed there, all the rooms at the inn were booked which means at least 6 of those spots were being used by Inn guests. Twice we came back to the Inn after a day out and discovered that there were no available parking spaces because patrons at the restaurant also parked in the lot. Suggestion - dedicate and clearly mark a few spots exclusively for Inn guests. Breakfast was delicious. The Inn was fully booked, and Karrie spent a lot of time running back and forth to the kitchen for coffee, juice, breakfasts, etc... She was the only one serving the guests. She was pulled in too many directions. Since breakfast is between 8-9am each morning, it seemed like all the guests arrived around the same time. Suggestion: have someone help out during the breakfast time. Also, I love coffee but the cups used only hold around 6 ounces. This meant the cups needed to be refilled constantly. Maybe consider getting coffee carafes? On our last morning there, I noticed a guest had brought down her own coffee in a tall mug - she made the coffee from the Keurig in the self serve common area on the second floor. I wish I had thought of that sooner."

Victorian by the Sea

"Victorian by the Sea was the ultimate positive Maine experience. The charm of the house and grounds was only exceeded by the welcoming warmth of its owners, Patrik and Becky. Their service and care were top-notch, making you feel like family. Check in was easy with a tour of the historic rooms, including an homage to Maine author Robert McClosky. An impressive vinyl record collection was available to listen to as you cozy up on the couch by the fireplace or gather with family/friends on the porch for tea. Our room had a tranquil view of the ocean. We could see the sun rise in the morning and admire the moon over the water at night. The bedroom and bath were spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and several choices were offered. We highly recommend the Wild Maine Blueberry Pancakes, the Avocado Toast, and the Ham and Cheese Croissant Casserole. An assortment of teas, coffees, and snacks was available all day on beautiful china settings. A homemade baked treat appeared every day at 3:00 outside the pantry. (Loved the Ricotta Peach Cake and Katherine Hepburn Brownies!). Unique Maine experiences included the ability to hike at local state and national parks, shop/dine in nearby Camden and spend time reading or talking with family on the large wrap-around porch. Our entire visit at Victorian by the Sea felt like a giant wrap-around hug. Thank you, Patrik and Becky, for this restorative vacation! You should definitely stay at this magical place Jacqui C."
