"I stayed in the Dekixe Room Ocean View for 2 nights as I was doing private tour and be out most of the day. The room was exceptionally bigger than expected, I got the 2nd floor corner room which had a nice view of the ocean and you can hear the waves crashing at night. Pros: Big room, nice view and quiet Cons: It's not very clean as unfortunately there isn't a netting over the bed so I come back from tour with gecko poop on bed. A few creatures in the room (small gecko, flying insects, baby roaches and huge spider) - all is fine as they don't bother you much but u did chase the spider out of the room. I upgraded to One Bedroom Pool Villa Ocean View for the last day as it's my birthday treat and that was a big difference! Room was gigantic with the most epic views, the pool was awesome and overlooked the ocean. I ordered room service and sat by the poolside for lunch which was amazing. You still get some bugs though but least it's manageable and some visit by a couple of baby crabs which I thought was quite interesting. Again, they're all very harmless as long as you leave them be. Staff also surprised me with a birthday cake and they decorated the room and that was special! They're super friendly and sweet. Understand they may have some bad reviews but my experience didn't disappoint. Hotel has been around since 2017 and Covid affected the biz and property is huge so of cause maintenance for everything is never easy esp in Sumba. Overall, I will definitely visit again and would just stay in the One Bedroom Pool Villa Ocean View as it's just gorgeous! Special thanks to Grace, Ayu, Gina & the amazing friendly staffs there! 🫶🏻"

"Our stay at Ketanu Lodge in Zomba was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and incredibly well looked after. The lodge is beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, and perfectly located to enjoy the area. What truly made our experience special, however, was the warmth and kindness of everyone we met. A special mention goes to the restaurant manager, who was exceptionally kind, attentive, and always ready to help. His professionalism and genuine friendliness made every meal an even more enjoyable experience. We would also like to thank the owners, who were incredibly welcoming and made us feel like guests in their own home rather than simply customers. Their hospitality and personal attention really stood out. The entire team deserves a huge compliment for the excellent service, the welcoming atmosphere, and the care they put into making guests feel comfortable. Ketanu Lodge is a truly special place, and we would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Sumba. We would absolutely stay here again!"

A special thank you to our Guest Captains, Doris and Sarny! They were warm, thoughtful, and incredibly attentive throughout our stay. Every request we had was handled quickly, and they were always one step ahead, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Their kindness and dedication made us feel less like guests and more like family. The villa was absolutely stunning, and the entire property is beautifully maintained. Everywhere you look, you can tell how much pride the team takes in preserving the beauty of the resort. What stood out most was the genuine hospitality. The team constantly checked in to make sure we were comfortable, even asking if we had eaten, which was such a thoughtful touch. We arrived later than expected one evening, and they graciously kept the kitchen open so we could still enjoy lunch. It’s these small acts of care that make such a lasting impression. We also stayed at another luxury resort on Sumba during this trip, and while it was beautiful, it simply didn’t provide the same level of warmth, attentiveness, or personalized service. Nihi has a heart that truly sets it apart. The Spa Safari is an absolute must. The setting is breathtaking and unlike anything we’ve experienced. Every detail from booking to coordinating the day was seamless. The team responded to our questions and requests within minutes, always doing their very best to accommodate everything we wanted. Luxury can be found in many places, but genuine hospitality cannot. Nihi Sumba excels at both. We left with unforgettable memories and cannot wait to return."

"Absolutely loved this place! The host Lydia and manager Margaret and the staff went out of their way to make our stay as nice as possible. The accommodation is clean and the bed is really comfortable. The view from the ocean view Villa isawesome as you can see the surf in the distance, and the seabreeze cools you down after lunchtime. The food is delicious, especially the whole grilled fish special, the chicken satay and the chicken and fish curry. Lydia is an amazing cook and we didn’t have one bad meal over our three day stay. The location is awesome for surf if you are lucky to get the right conditions. Perfect point break on mid tide with around 5 foot swell and northerly wind. And when that’s not working, there’s a little right hand beachie in front of the river outlet which is heaps of fun on the high tide. The restaurant has a great vibe at night with good tunes and a few friendly locals, and travellers from surrounding areas heading there to hang out and eat good food and have a chat. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place. "
