"Friendly staff, very attentive to needs/requests. No elevator, so lugging luggage up and down the stairs was inconvenient."

"Room smelled musty and damp. Dirt and dead bugs all around the baseboards. Ace unit filters were packed full of dust. Attached pics of the bathroom. Floor had soft spots. Tiles loose and when stepped on dirty black water squished out from under the tiles. Tiles in the shower itself weren’t even adhered to the floor and mold all around the baseboards and on the tiles. Shower attachment was held on by zip ties. Towels didn’t look clean. Dry wall rotted and paint bubbling. They used a heat lamp bulb in the bathroom unprotected if it were to break glass would end up everywhere. Not good with little kids around. When trying to sleep some of the other quests were throwing a party in the parking lot keeping me and my grandson awake till after 1am. Mini fridge didn’t work hardly at all. I will not ever stay at this motel again and would not recommend it to anyone. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Only issue with that was the dirt and chunks of food I saw behind the head board. Phone was all busted up. Not sure it even worked. Vending machines were practically empty."

"Every clean room and over all hotel. The breakfast has a nice selection of things to choose. The pool was great, we also enjoy the hot tub."

"TV DIDN’T WORK, THE WINDOW WAS BUSTED, THE SHOWER CHAIR & WALLS WERE NOT CLEAN. VERY DISAPPOINTED I LEFT BEFORE MY TIME WAS UP.."

"Fleas!! I got so many flea bites in the first hour at the hotel. The manager was hostile and refused to give me a refund. I am pregnant and exhausted. I just wanted some rest. Now, I'm looking at brining home a baby to a flea-bombed home. And I am covered in flea bites."

"The good: Water pressure and temperature were very good in the shower. Hot tub and pool were decent for an older hotel. Very convenient location for restaurants and Walmart. The Not-so-good: The sign by the front door said words to the effect of Lock your car and don't leave valuables in view in your car. Asking the desk clerk she pretended to not realizing this old sign was there. She continued to be uninterested in her job in every way. Even claimed my card was declined. Acted annoyed when I asked her to run it again (and it went thru). Asked for more than one tiny bottle of shampoo with 3 of us, she acted annoyed to give me a couple more samplers. The bad: The hotel is fairly beat up. Its layers of paint over decades of repairs needed. When your tub has huge chips on it, time to upgrade! The air unit, although quiet, never got the room cool enough, even at it's lowest setting the whole time we were there. Really bad: Charged $120 for one adult, 2 kids. Small, uncomfortable beds, and a fridge that barely kept drinks below room temp. No wriggle room for the rate, even though we were in a relatively small town, surrounded by farms, and there on a Wednesday! They only had 2-3 other rooms rented the whole night. Nothing was happening in the town either! Finally irritation: They hold an extra $50 deposit even with a card. A could understand if you paid cash (which they also don't allow without a card), but they basically put $200 on hold over a very old hotel in the middle of nowhere! Conclusion: I have been in worse-looking hotels, but overall this wasn't a great visit. If I would come back to Ft. Dodge, it won't be here."
