Drostdy Hotel
"It was a lovely location and the hotel very luxurious. The king size rooms are like mini apartments and the breakfast was really good"
Hlosi Game Lodge - Amakhala Game Reserve
"My girlfriend and I just got back from our very first safari trip and it was more than what we had expected. As a matter of fact, we really didn't know what to expect in the first place when we made our reservation but boy were we in for a treat. I can go on writing a lengthy review about the 5 days that we spent there but I do not want to ruin it for others. Instead, I would urge the new readers to take a trip over there instead and experience it for yourselves!!! Just to summarize, the place was fantastic. Neat and clean and nicely laid out. All the staff at the lodge were terrific. Each and every one of them seemed to go above and beyond to satisfy our needs and make our stay more pleasant. Special shout out to Sino, Ntosh, Nollie and Nosange. Chef Mama P and Chef Dudu worked their magic in the kitchen. It didn't matter if it was breakfast, lunch or dinner because all the food that the two of them prepared for us were scrumptious. As for our game drive and tour guide, Kutaza was exceptional. A young and talented individual with abundant knowledge about the wildlife and one who simply loves what he does. He was also very accommodating during our 10 drives, answering all the questions that we had for him and stopping for photos and videos whenever we asked him to do so. Finally, we would also like to thank Igna Tregoning at Shield Tours for providing punctual and great transportation service between Port Elizabeth airport and Hlosi Lodge. Both drivers Allan and Charles made our hourlong journey quite enjoyable."
Founders Lodge by Mantis
"All of the reviews are correct. From the moment you get there to the moment you leave, everything is taken care of. We stayed two nights and wish we had stayed at least three or four. Each game drive goes to a different section of the 50,000 acre Samwari Nature Reserve. Our Ranger, Sikhumbuzo, was the best!! He had extensive knowledge of the animals and a keen sense for where they were going and how to put us in a place where we could see their movements. He was always joyful and good humored. When we go back, we will ask for him again. He really made our first Safari experience one we will never forget. We saw an incredible number of animal species, but some of the highlights were the herd of elephants, rhinos, giraffes, lions, hippos, zebra, lots of different types of antelope, cheeta, etc. And the staff, beautiful hotel and room design, placement and the Chef really made our stay the best we had in South Africa. Highly highly recommend!! It’s worth every penny."
Tsitsikamma Village Inn
"Was great location for our adventure We went to the storms river canoe and lilo(fantastic adventure) we also went on the 3 wheelers in the forest Tsitsikamma village was the perfect stop. "
Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm
"We had a lovely stay.Friendly and professional staff.Chalet is beautiful and clean with spectacular view over the farm. Will highly recommend "
Storms River Guest Lodge
"I have become used to warm and welcoming service across South Africa but this takes the crown. Storms river is a beautiful place in a beautiful part of the world and this guest lodge was a great choice The owner took the time to know my plans, gave excellent advice and even organised a shuttle for me. Very comfortable and quiet place for sleep and relax. Breakfast is generous, fresh and delicious. Great range of choices. Even does an excellent cappuccino!!! Highly recommended"
Grand House Lodge Jeffreys Bay
"the parking was inadequate since it could not properly fit all the cars of the hotel visitors. However, the room was comfortable. Lastly, the receptionist was not available at all times during our stay. "
Royal St Andrews Hotel by Mantis
"Our experience at the Royal St Andrews Hotel was amazing! The beads are the best and the service impeccable, the staff are always friendly and the food was the best. Breakfast was my favourite!"
A1 Kynaston Self Catering or Bed and Breakfast
"Awesome views and very spacious. Sharon was a great host and even offered to service the apartment everyday. It's not beachfront but close enough to the beaches by car. Also has a swimming pool. Would use again."

African Perfection 1
"Very clean, no dust, even though that's almost impossible at the beach - I was impressed! The kitchen staff are friendly and welcome you every morning with a smile. Security at night leaves you without worry for car security. Locals are very chilled. A fun experience watching the dedicated surfers each morning. This is my favorite place to stay in J-bay."
Aloe Again
"It's a great venue. The bed was great. The pillows were great. The service was great. When an issue arose like the geyser thermostat broke, the communication was excellent and the thing was fixed fast. All in all, the hospitality was professional the place was clean and the cleaning staff were very efficient and friendly. We have no complaints."
Supertubes Guesthouse
"Amazing two nights. First time in J Bay and where better to be. You feel like you in the surf just looking out of the window. Modern and upmarket accommodation and you can see all the little details and attention. Can't wait for the next time."
Cape St Francis Resort
"This is probably the worst place to stay in terms of accommodation as the rooms are dilapidated and really run down. Needs a major revamp. Also to have decent meals you would have to pass shacka which could be dangerous for night driving. Definitely would not recommend this resort."
Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve
"Friendly staff and good service. Food was excellent. The views from the room are spectacular and relaxing"
Hitgeheim Country Lodge
"A really beautiful accommodation close to Addo Elephant park. There are breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from the room, an indoor and outdoor shower in the room, very spacious bedrooms and terraces and just the perfect place to relax after a long day animal spotting! The staff are really helpful and the setting is just stunning. The food was also amazing and they put on a 4 course dinner in the evenings. It was also great value for money."
Woodall Country House and Spa
"This has got to be one of the most beautiful places to stay in S. Africa. We were lucky and received an upgrade which was perfect. The staff are extreemly friendly including all those with responsibilities and includes the chamber maid, just everyone. I would recommend this hotel in all aspects whether it be the location, the rooms, the service, the restaurant, the safari tour. We had a lovely time. Thanks to you all, David"
The Sands @ St Francis
"Hotel room and pool was nice but would not recommend staying here and definitely would not recommend eating here, the food was terrible! My oysters were completely frozen and when I asked for new ones they brought out half frozen ones. My husband’s fish was also inedible, it tasted horrendous and was so rubbery. On check out they charged us the full price for the meal (apart from the fish) including the salad that went with my husband fish. Following this disappointing stay we arrived at our Safari and waiting for us there on reception was the bill from the Sands as the payment hadn’t gone through. This could have had this emailed to us or sent through or agent but instead put a downer on our arrival at Pumba. We were also a honeymoon couple and they had no idea about this on arrival. Very disappointed with this stay!"
Aquarius Bed and Breakfast
"The hospitality and friendliness was great. We felt very welcome. Will definitely stay there again and recommend to others"
Dolphin View Guesthouse
"Welcoming establishment with a very friendly owner operator. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Breakfasts were full English with many options. Will definitely go back to Dolphin View Guesthouse."
Canal Guest House - Waterfront Boutique B&B
"A great 2 night stopover with comfortable accommodation and welcoming hosts - don’t forget to to buy some art work too!"
River Front Estate
"We slept one night here between the garden road and Addo (booking on airbnb) It was great, the owner is adorable and gave us very good advice on things to do in the region The accommodations are great and clean Warm welcome And 10 minutes from the park entrance"
Tube n Axe Lodge and Backpackers
"Breakfast was not mentioned on arrival at the front desk that it was included during the stay.NO breakfast packages were offered on departure, so Francois did not turn that offer down as it was not mentioned."
Misty Mountain Reserve
"We booked a Luxury Tent for our 2 night stay. But thanx to Henry for moving us to the Honeymoon Chalet named Ostrich which was very spacious with a view to die for. The corner spa bath and fireplace made the room even better and homey and was thorougly utilised. The staff was friendly and ever so helpful. Also the communal bar and living room with fireplace was neat and tidy and we recommend getting a drink or cocktail from the bar and enjoying the lovely view of the ocean. The monkeys and peacocks visiting the chalets during the day was also very nice and not a nuisance. Also take the time to walk the David Lane hiking trail to the lookout point with a breath taking view. Thank you Misty Mountain for having us and we will definatley be back again..."
Pumba Private Game Reserve
"The environment is clean and the waiters are sincere. I suggest you choose this lodge if you want to see wild animals."
Cape St Francis Resort
"This is probably the worst place to stay in terms of accommodation as the rooms are dilapidated and really run down. Needs a major revamp. Also to have decent meals you would have to pass shacka which could be dangerous for night driving. Definitely would not recommend this resort."
