Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve

"This place is really terrible. Do not come here. I timed how long it took them to bring our dinner tonight. And it took one hour and a quarter. You cannot order side dishes. The food will not fill you up. There is no ability to choose the type of meal you want and it’s unbelievably slow. We had to leave in the end before our desert came. I don’t know what they’re doing in the kitchen, or what the waitresses are doing, but they’re definitely not trying to make this a five star hotel. The service is like one star. Nothing in the room works. We paid top dollar for the private 3 bed house. Of course, none of the TVs work, there is no cutlery in any of the drawers in the kitchen. It’s all formover function. You can’t get to the beach on foot. It’s a 10 min drive followed by a 15 min walk. The pool is tiny. The beer in the fridges is not cold. Everyone here is fast asleep. Save your money. Stay at home."

Hitgeheim Country Lodge

"We stayed 2 nights in a superior de luxe room. The rooms are spacious, with comfy beds, chairs and huge bathroom. We also had our own pool and outside shower. The room had great views over the valley and river. Beds turned down each evening and free sherry. Breakfast is self serve cols and hit dishes to order. We booked dinner on both nights - 4 courses, choices are made after breakfast. We also went on the Addo game drive, which sets of at 8 am. It's a 25km drive to the park in a god truck. Your driver is your guide ( take your drink and poss a jacket on cooler days) . Lunch is provided by the hotel which was very filling. The road to the hotel is unmade so be wary if in a hire car, also lots of road works in the area so allow extra time. "

Kwantu Private Game Reserve

"Kwantu advertised specials on the Radio the day before we booked, however when we enquired about the specials they said that it was for a limited time only. When advertising, don’t lie to the public, advertise the period of the specials."

Bukela Game Lodge - Amakhala Game Reserve

"Really enjoyed our 3 nt stay. Accommodation A1 . Food, plentiful but not of the highest quality. The Safari , A1, huge mention for Abi great guide. Wales were unlucky."

The team here are excellent - friendly, warm, and delivering the highest levels of service. Special mention to Oli and Elvis. BBQ night and amazing singing and dancing from the team were a particular highlight. Game drives were brilliant - Tim was an excellent ranger and we saw everything we could hope to see. Highly recommend."

Pumba Private Game Reserve

"Where to begin. The shower did not drain, despite the bath and basins draining. The bathroom blinds fell off the wall when trying to close them. The safe is not mounted to anything. We had to send both steaks back due to being grossly under cooked. No barrister on site, only an all in one coffee machine, I am not sure how they can call themselves 5 Star. The game drive vehicle broke down and the game rangers do not have proper torches with them. We were transferring vehicles in the bush with the wild animals using our cell phones for light. Unfortunately it had rained extraordinarily before our trip so understandably we could not access a significant portion of the farm, but we had no issue with this. Pumba took 10 days to respond and only said that they hope to see us again. No accountability on their part. They blamed the water from the rains as the reason for us experiencing all the issues. I am not sure how rain causes the blinds to fall down or the shower not to drain etc. This was not the 5 Star experience we were had hoped for."

Cape St Francis Resort

"Wow what amazing place. It was like a Mediterranean island in the middle of the Eastern Cape. A short 1 hour drive and we felt like we left the country. Beautiful well taken care of and clean facilities. Our unit even had a splash pool outside by the braai area and patio. Walking distance to the beach and an amazing Restaurant with great food and staff. Reception is such a pleasure to deal with and even a great little shop with all the last minute goodies that you might need. A must visit for anyone. We are sorry we did not stay longer. Definitely will be back."
