Drostdy Hotel ★★★★★
"Excellent stay in this charming hotel!"
Hlosi Game Lodge - Amakhala Game Reserve ★★★★
"Amazing lodge right at the heart of the Amakhala game reserve. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you are made to feel very welcome and special in this beautiful location. The team here are excellent - friendly, warm, and delivering the highest levels of service. Special mention to Oli and Elvis. BBQ night and amazing singing and dancing from the team were a particular highlight. Game drives were brilliant - Tim was an excellent ranger and we saw everything we could hope to see. Highly recommend."
Founders Lodge by Mantis ★★★★★
"What a wonderful experience. Game Lodges come in all shapes and sizes but this small 7 suite boutique lodge within the Shamwari Reserve in the Eastern Cape of SA hits the right balance. We have been to many in South Africa and this is now our favourite for this reason. This is the former homestead of the Mantis collection who have preserved the country house feel. It’s not glitzy and Brash like some, no spa, no TV’s but it is unobtrusively professionally run by Glynnis and her team with genuinely friendly efficient staff. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and have an individual intimacy. A lovely touch each your meals were taken in a different location. A special shout out to Chantel (front of house) and Craig (head ranger) who went over and above to sort out the issue with our hire car by organising a new battery to be couriered to the Lodge from 65kms away. Allowing us the peace of mind to relax and enjoy our game drives with our hugely knowledgeable and entertaining ranger Sikhumbuzo."
Tsitsikamma Village Inn ★★★
"Country-style comfort, heating, hot water, microwave, refrigerator, enough blankets, monkeys, barbets, flowers in the garden...beautiful"
Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm ★★★★
"The manager, Henri, was very friendly and helpful in all our requests. He went out of his way to accommodate our needs."
Storms River Guest Lodge ★★★
"We Had a lovely stay at the Storms River Guesthouse. Especially the Service and staff is very good and you feel very welcome. The property is lovely as Well even though it is not the newest anymore. Breakfast was good and everything you need is provided. Storms River itself is a quiet "dead" and old fashioned place but the National Park is super lovely!"
Grand House Lodge Jeffreys Bay ★★★
"I was suprised at the place as I wasn't sure how it was going to be as we have never been to Jefferys Bay before. The rooms were spacious and it was better than a hotel. The staff was nice, my mom even got a massage. Great value for my money."
Royal St Andrews Hotel by Mantis ★★★★
"I loved every moment. The peace, tranquility, luxury everything. I enjoyed the weekend with my family that made it extra special. The staff are friendly, inviting and go the extra mile. The room has everything you need. I especially enjoyed the fact that there is a spa available (at an extra cost) on site. The ladies have healing hands. The breakfast is great and they serve champagne over the weekend breakfast. Kelly's beach is close, the Highlander pub is on the same premises and the food is great. A playroom for the kids kept mine busy so that I could relax. Don't listen to my story go and make your own, I am sure you won't be disappointed."
A1 Kynaston Self Catering or Bed and Breakfast ★★★
"We were here in July 2023, and i was just reflecting on our time here and had to write a review. The room was so comfy, clean with a beautiful garden and nice little view of the sea and you can see the sunrise in the morning. Sharon was such a lovely host, and I really enjoyed talking to them. This is a great place to stay, quiet and I felt so safe."

Aan Die Oewer Guest House
"Very easy to find location and communicate with very friendly householder The apartment is cosy but slightly ascetic (no fully isolated bathroom from main room) Beautiful orchard and view around site Gorgeous ancient city in Dutch style with delicious meals in restaurants and awesome local paleontology museum"
Supertubes Guesthouse
"We had a lovely brief stay here in Dec. As surfers we really appreciated being so close to the surf spots - I just wish our room had a view of supers but it was slightly blocked by the rooms in front - but still its a very special place, the hosts and everyone working there were really on top of things. Breakfast was delicious. "
Aloe Again
"It's a great venue. The bed was great. The pillows were great. The service was great. When an issue arose like the geyser thermostat broke, the communication was excellent and the thing was fixed fast. All in all, the hospitality was professional the place was clean and the cleaning staff were very efficient and friendly. We have no complaints."
The Mandyville Jeffreys Bay
"I would highly recommend the Mandyville Hotel in Jeffreys Bay! Service was excellent and staff were amazing. The rooms were fabulous, clean and serviced everyday. Loved the breakfast choices! It is situated really close to the beach (walk across the road and down the pathway onto the Beach). Debbie in Johannesburg"
Pumba Private Game Reserve
"This was our first Safari and what a place. The staff, chalet, food, Safari drives were unreal. The chalet was absolutely amazing great bed, bathroom, fully stocked fridge with alcohol and non alcoholic drinks, stocked daily, fantastic view of the water hole from a private decking area, which also includes a private plunge pool, also a great wood stove in the chalet which is lit by staff every night. We had a fantastic guide, Thomas, his knowledge of the animals in the reserve, and there were plenty, was amazing. We got to see giraffes, lions, rhino's, baboons, hippos, monkeys to name but a few, up very close. The food was absolutely amazing and served up by amazing staff who were always very attentive and happy to give assistance. A truly amazing place to be on Safari. Thank you Pumba lodge and to fantastic staff who made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. A big thank you to our guide, Thomas, who is a fantastic guide, great personality with a vast knowledge of every type of animal on the reserve. It definitely gets a big big recommendation from us. Ivan and Daphne. N.Ireland"
Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve
"We called to ask if they took no resort walk in clients at their resturant were advised they do. We drove from Cannon Rocks to go for lunch at the gate we woke up the security who called in to confirm we had a “reservation” we knew we had called and been advised we could walk in. After 5 min wait at the gate feeling stupid we were told we can’t get in. We called again from the gate and advised we had driven and were told we needed a reservation and could not come in without one as-well as we needed to pay a deposit to confirm booking. Well will never come again and will advise all travelers and friends to avoid the bad attitude and arrogance of this place and staff"
Hitgeheim Country Lodge
"A really beautiful accommodation close to Addo Elephant park. There are breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from the room, an indoor and outdoor shower in the room, very spacious bedrooms and terraces and just the perfect place to relax after a long day animal spotting! The staff are really helpful and the setting is just stunning. The food was also amazing and they put on a 4 course dinner in the evenings. It was also great value for money."
Woodall Country House and Spa
"Solo female traveler. Stayed 3 nights in a suite. Woodall is a special place, with a wonderful staff, and I enjoyed every minute of my time there. What's to love: - Eduarn, the friendly and super-capable GM, is on top of everything. Prior to my trip, he was quick to amend my booking, answer my questions, provide information before I even asked (which route to take, where to stop along the way, etc.) During the stay, he was always available and on top of everything - Freddie, the pianist/restaurant manager (?)/go-to guy, is very warm, accommodating person. He's looking out for everyone - The deck, the deck, the deck! Comfortable sitting areas with views of the very active swamp. (Ornithophiles will be in heaven here) - The lodge is very accessible: straightforward journey from Port Elizabeth, good roads. Only 90 minutes from PLZ - My suite was gigantic, and it included outdoor showers (as well as indoor), tall ceilings, a private patio surrounded by nature, a dipping pool (got a kick out of the unironic "No Lifeguard on Premises/No Diving" sign), a refrigerator, USB outlets, safe, robes, slippers, etc. Lots of natural light and fresh air. Very quiet; dark at night; and AC worked fine - Complimentary bottle of wine; chocolates every night; welcome beverage; handwritten, personalized notes. Pastries (baked onsite) available in the lobby all day - Strong WiFi in common areas and rooms - They wash the guests' cars - Extremely comfortable beds. Strong, hot showers - Charlotte Rhys bath products - Spa onsite - Adjacent to Addo Elephant Park. So easy to take a half-day safari. Breakfast is provided. Lots of elephants, viewed up close - Both Eduarn offered a "to-go" breakfast when I told them I had to depart at 5:15 a.m. - Friendly, attentive restaurant staff - On-the-ball housekeeping What could be improved: - Uncomfortable dining room chairs"
The Sands @ St Francis
"St Francis Bay is such a lovely small town and The Sands has a fabulous setting overlooking the ocean. Everything is perfect and the staff all work incredibly hard to deliver great service with a smile. The dinners in the evening surpassed our expectation. The quality and choice could not be faulted and, with an impressive wine list too, it was so nice to sit in the small restaurant hearing the waves below and chatting to your fellow diners. We stayed here about 6 years ago. It was lovely to be back again and I’m sure it won’t be our last visit. Thank you to everyone who made our 4 day stay so memorable. "
Aquarius Bed and Breakfast
"It was very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly breakfast was good as well. Rooms was spacious. Our stay was for 3 nights price was affordable. We will recommend this place to family's and friends"
Canal Guest House - Waterfront Boutique B&B
"Exemplary host for breakfast and in general. Wonderful mattress, perfect cleanliness. Way above expectations!"
Misty Mountain Reserve
"We stayed in a tent and it was freezing! There was a little heater, that did not do much. We mentioned it and they said we could get heated blankets. We had to ask about it and heard all the rooms had, but not us. The manager said it's because we had two beds? After my complaint, they did bring them for both beds. That helped, but other than that the room was way too cold to stay in and be comfortable. I would not stay there again because of this reason. Maybe the other houses and tents were different? They do have nice staff and spa."
Cape St Francis Resort
"Staff wear smiles all the time. Food is amazing and generous proportions. Access to the beach easy. And An easy walk to the Light House. Accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped. Great little shop And you can have your clothes lauded laundered. "
Tube n Axe Lodge and Backpackers
"We were there for 1 night but we had a very good stay. We will definitely visit again should we be in the area "
Assegaaibosch Country Lodge
"My hubby and I spend 1night have to go back for a weekend. Great food, great service this is a must do. So much to do from swimming, playing tennis, table tennis or just reading a book. Great for celebrating a party with a group of friends."
Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge
"Our stay at Barefoot was absolutely amazing and we loved the property and the fact that we were away from the hustle and bustle! The staff are fantastic and make you feel like family! Shout out to George, Olivia, Kellen and James! Our game drive on the property was one of the best I’ve experienced with James being so knowledgeable about different wildlife, plant life and nature conservation. We will definitely visit again. Thanks for making us feel so at home!"
