"An old hotel centrally located on top of the small hills over the old city Wetzlar. I stayed for one short night and got a clean but outdated hotel room. The bath was of good size and clean. The person that met me in the reception, I also met in the bar. She was nice and helpful. Parking directly outside for no extra cost. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes’ walk away from the central parts of the old city with all the restaurants and bars. Burgerhof has a restaurant, but it was closed when I was there."

"A beautiful, old house with a rustic ambiance. Unfortunately, the rooms are quite small and awkwardly laid out, and not ideally furnished. The double bed was only accessible for the second person by climbing over the other; vice versa, of course; annoying if you need to get up in the night. The room did have a safe, but it was locked, and since there was no staffed reception, we couldn't use it. There was also no refrigerator; this should be standard nowadays; it's not always drinks that need to be chilled, but also things like medication. The toilet was truly unacceptable, seemingly designed for small children due to the cramped space. Otherwise, the hotel has a perfect location in the old town, and the cleanliness, beds, and breakfast were good (especially the friendly lady behind the counter who took care of the preparation). Personally, I'm not a fan of automated check-in systems involving websites, emails, and multiple key codes. Having a real, human face at reception for a quick chat or to answer questions makes a hotel stay somehow more pleasant. In conclusion: Okay for one night, but we wouldn't choose it for longer stays."

"This was our 3rd stay. The Owners work so hard to achieve perfection and they over succeed. All staff are brilliant. Awesome food, service, bedrooms are very comfortable with everything provided. "The hotel is just a few minutes from the cathedral and the old town, on a main road, but we still had a quiet room. It wasn't very modern, but it was big enough, with a desk and separate couch (unfortunately without a coffee table). Very comfortable beds. You have to be careful in the shower: it has neither a door nor a curtain - if you don't want the bathroom to flood, you shouldn't turn the water on too high. Good breakfast with delicious fresh rolls. The hotel offers a few free parking spaces, and if you can't get a space there, the friendly staff will be happy to give you tips on parking spaces nearby. If you come to Wetzlar during Advent, you shouldn't miss the beautiful Christmas market, which takes place on the cathedral square and (really beautiful) on the Schillerplatz.
