"I recently stayed at this hotel and was initially pleasantly surprised: The hotel is modern, stylishly furnished, and makes a very good first impression. The rooms are generally attractively designed, and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. Unfortunately, this positive impression was significantly marred by several shortcomings. The staff was particularly disappointing, as they seemed generally inattentive and not very service-oriented. There was a significant hygiene problem every morning at breakfast: There were numerous flies, especially fruit flies, around the buffet, which significantly dampened my appetite and is not a good sign for cleanliness. The room also had several defects and deficiencies: The shower didn't work properly, the refrigerator was out of order, and the duvet had holes. Furthermore, room service was very unreliable; the tea and coffee station was neither cleaned nor regularly restocked. Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential, especially due to its modern design, but the lack of cleanliness, the condition of the furnishings, and the service urgently need improvement."

"Stayed 2 nights mid October 2023. Check in went relatively smooth, however overall unfriendly desk attendant/clerk. Following check in, I inquired if the clerk could recommend a local restaurant or two within walking distance. Clerk responded No, nothing is within walking distance. Interestingly Via Yelp, I found a fantastic Italian restaurant (Al Camino), as well as an excellent steakhouse, (Bolero Steakhaus); both within 5-7 minute(s) walk from the Achatz. Very Helpful! Room, just OK. Very minimal amenities. Shower soap dispenser found Empty. Bath towels very thin & worn. Bedding ok. Heat supply absent & basically Froze both nights...Fun. On site Pub uninviting & completely Empty. Limited menu & completely out of Vodka. Had a pint of beer & departed for Al Camino (above). Breakfast restaurant just ok. Ran out of orange juice both mornings. Otherwise, buffet style fried / poached / scrambled eggs, bacon & sausage, meats / cheese, fresh rolls, preserves, yogurts/limited fruit(s). Wellness - JOKE. Felt like a Dungeon within a Penitentiary. Probably best to permanently Close this area. Sauna very small & lacking adequate heat. No Lighting within adjacent sauna / communal shower area. No lockers provided & Restrooms were Filthy. I'd, unquestionably... suggest looking elsewhere. Travel On!"

"I spent two very pleasant nights in a large, modern room with a very nice shower room in this privately run hotel and felt really good. The staff are exceptionally friendly and they obviously have a lot of trust in their guests: there is a fridge with drinks on the ground floor that you can help yourself to and then indicate what you took when paying. That speaks volumes for the owners and the guests! An extensive breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. And last but not least, the location: quiet and in the middle of the charming old town. Price and performance are more than satisfactory for the guest. It was definitely the first visit but certainly not the last! Thank you very much!"

"A beautiful, old house with a rustic ambiance. Unfortunately, the rooms are quite small and awkwardly laid out, and not ideally furnished. The double bed was only accessible for the second person by climbing over the other; vice versa, of course; annoying if you need to get up in the night. The room did have a safe, but it was locked, and since there was no staffed reception, we couldn't use it. There was also no refrigerator; this should be standard nowadays; it's not always drinks that need to be chilled, but also things like medication. The toilet was truly unacceptable, seemingly designed for small children due to the cramped space. Otherwise, the hotel has a perfect location in the old town, and the cleanliness, beds, and breakfast were good (especially the friendly lady behind the counter who took care of the preparation). Personally, I'm not a fan of automated check-in systems involving websites, emails, and multiple key codes. Having a real, human face at reception for a quick chat or to answer questions makes a hotel stay somehow more pleasant. In conclusion: Okay for one night, but we wouldn't choose it for longer stays."
