After waiting a while, I asked if they had any fragrance, something to mask the smell. At this point, a new female front desk staff member, who was very friendly, immediately responded that they did and would get it for me. I was stopped by the male receptionist who told me they didn't have any. Then the female receptionist pointed to a spot on the front desk and asked the male receptionist if it wasn't a fragrance diffuser. The male receptionist again said no, it wasn't. After a brief silence, he told me they had essential oils and asked if I wanted some. I asked if I could smell the scent before he brought them to me. The whole experience was terrible. I don't understand if they thought I was easy to fool or what. I had a request, and this male receptionist, surnamed Li, heard me but didn't respond at all. Is this the standard Huazhu Club should have? When I stayed in Haikou, I mentioned a smell, and they actively tried to find a solution for me. This hotel not only didn't solve the problem but also acted like I was lying and played dumb. Even if they didn't have any rooms available at night, they could have told me they were full, and I could have accepted that. Instead of saying "no, you must be mistaken," this sarcastic and unhelpful attitude shows their poor staff training.
