"So lucky that the host upgraded us to one of the best rooms there with private bath. It's a mix of western and japanese room which is so new and looked like newly renovated. The facilities inside are of top quality, including the Refa hair dryer. The beds were comfortable. The view was absolutely breathtaking. When we entered the room, we couldn't control our excitement. Service was excellent and staff spoke good English. Meals was another highlight, where you could try different types of well-seasoned seafood. Sake was reasonably priced and good choices on the list. Will definitely come back next time. Thanks again for upgrading us!"

"If you are a japanophile, longing for the by gone days before Japan was hit with over tourism ,when service was sincere and warm , and when the atmosphere in the ryokans was dignified and civilized, then Tachibana Tei Ohana is a must stay for you. The service in this hotel was top notch warm and genteel. The staff bows deeply to you whenever they meet you. The hotel patrons respect the cultured atmosphere and during mealtimes people speak in hushed quiet respectful tones so as not to disturb others. Breakfast and Kaiseki dinner were excellent and in just the correct portions so you do not feel pressured to finish all the food on your plate.The rooms were clean and all amenities are available. There are free drinks in the reading lounge in the evenings which is a nice place to unwind after a day of activities. Unfortunately when we were there, the canals in Yanagawa were drained to facilitate repair works so the quaint canal atmosphere Yanagawa is famous for was absent. All in all an excellent hotel worthy of its long history . Highly recommended."

Business Ryokan Matsubaya (Formerly: Business Yamato) ★★

"I stayed here while sightseeing in Yanagawa. It's conveniently located near the station. There are no convenience stores nearby so I bought water from a vending machine. The building is old, but it felt like I was visiting my grandmother's house. There was a bath area so I could take a long soak in the tub and it was nice that there were also two shower booths. The toilets and washrooms were clean. However, I couldn't find a hairdryer (maybe you can borrow one from the front desk?), so I let my hair dry naturally. There was nothing good or bad around the area, and the stars were beautiful at night, which was nice."
