"It only took about two hours to drive from Beijing to Zunhua, Tangshan – super convenient! We left right after work on Friday, and the hotel called to confirm our arrival time and any room preferences, which was really nice. The real plot twist came on Saturday! I had booked two twin rooms online in advance. When we arrived, the front desk had a very festive Christmas vibe, and the kids spent ages playing in the lobby. We were told that guests could have unlimited access to the kids' play area and the Cloud Peak hot springs during their stay! I specifically confirmed this! However, we arrived quite late that day, so we just went straight to a nearby Lanzhou Lamian restaurant. Five of us ate for less than 100 RMB, which was a great deal and the food was pretty good too! We only managed to visit the kids' play area when we got back. On the second day, we woke up around 8 AM for breakfast. Apart from some of the Chinese dishes being a bit salty, the breakfast spread was incredibly rich. My favorite was the sesame soft bread – 100 thumbs up! There were even some strawberry slices tucked inside the dragon fruit. After that, we went to explore the petting zoo behind the hotel. Honestly, there weren't many animals – mostly just a flock of birds, chickens, and rabbits. They all looked quite cold. There were pigeons, including some little babies. The 'petting zoo captain' was a little cat who patrolled around outside the restaurant, making sure no one got too close to her. Then, we planned to go to the Cloud Peak hot springs. When I went downstairs to the front desk, I realized I had forgotten my tickets. I asked if we could just go directly, and the front desk said we'd have to pay a 68 RMB entrance fee. I was like, '???'. I then mentioned that my package included the hot springs, and the staff member pretended not to know, asking for the room number. After I gave it, she reluctantly said, 'Okay, I'll let the Cloud Peak staff know...' This part made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The problem was, I had booked two rooms, and my father-in-law got the exact same response! And I had already discussed this issue the day before! Personally, I think the front desk staff on the second day were really subpar. Aside from that, everything else was quite good. The kids' play area just required giving your room number, and the room service was excellent too. Compared to Beijing, the value for money is really high, and there was even welcome fruit."
