Fairfield by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela ★★★★
"A wonderful hotel. Conveniently located near the airport, but very far from the city itself, about an hour's drive. Good breakfasts, delicious food in the hotel restaurant. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with good beds. Parking is available. Several restaurants are located opposite the hotel."
Gardens House, Airport Juan Santamaría, Alajuela, San José ★★
"The owner is very kind and will first give you a tour of the facility. There is only one toilet and shower room on the premises, so you will need to stagger your arrival time with other guests. As I had an early morning flight, I requested a transfer from the hotel to the airport, which was arranged with plenty of time to spare. Also, as I would not be able to eat breakfast at the hotel, he gave me bananas and apples the night before, which was very helpful. It was a mixed-gender room for four people, but the beds had curtains so I was able to relax in peace!"
Hilton Garden Inn San Jose Airport City Mall ★★★
"Good reception, availability, despite a short stay everything was there for us to feel good. We will come back with pleasure."
Hampton by Hilton San Jose Airport ★★★★
"Friendly and warm staff, spacious room to rest for the night, and delicious and fulfilling breakfast. I was very satisfied with my stay here."
Alajuela City Hotel & Guest House ★★
"The hotel was built around 1903 and it is lovely! As would be expected the rooms are small but they have everything we needed for a one night stay before our flight. The beds were comfortable. The courtyard provides a great environment for a glass of wine or some reading. The gentleman kindly chilled the wine we had purchased at a local store. We also took his recommendations about places to eat and had an enjoyable evening out."
Las Carmelas, Airport Juan Santamaría, Alajuela, San José ★★
"I stayed at this hostel and I'm really happy with it. The place is very clean, with well-maintained rooms and pleasant common areas. The service is impeccable, the staff is super welcoming and always ready to help. In addition, the hostel is ideally located near the airport, which makes getting around much easier. The value for money is also excellent, especially for a night before or after a flight. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for convenient, comfortable, and affordable accommodation in Alajuela."
Poas Volcano Lodge ★★★
"Very very good recommended"
Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela ★★★
"One of the best hotels in San Jose, a Marriott brand, so quality is guaranteed. Rooms are spacious, breakfast is plentiful, and while the location isn't close to the airport, the surrounding amenities are excellent."
Guácima Escondida Hotel Boutique ★★★
"Nice hotel in a beautiful nature location near the airport therefore it was a good location for us Everything looks pretty you can there breakfast was also good Nice pool nice stay"

Trapp Family Country Inn
"My flight got delayed, but they waited to let me in, and quickly showed me to my room, which was spacious and a lovely view of the gardens and Pool, the bed was comfortable in the shower was perfect. The lady on reception was lovely and prepared my breakfast and adjusted to my likes I would fully recommend this hotel if you want somewhere close to the airport , but in beautiful gardens , it’s approximately eight minutes away, there is also a big shopping mall about the same distance away if you forget anything"
Xandari Resort & Spa
Brillasol Airport Hotel
"Very homely. The hotel was needed for a one-night stop near the airport. Delicious breakfasts. Green territory. Seeing a hummingbird at dawn is priceless))"
Asclepios Wellness & Healing Retreat
"It was a terrible experience. The massage was fine but, after that, the sauna had not been previously warmed, so we had to wait half an hour. After the sauna, same story: the jacuzzi had not been turned on, so we had to use it with cold water. Finally, the food was so, but so bad, that we did not eat it at all. The soup tasted like warm water. Unsavory salmon, vegetables did not even have salt, peper or butter, it was so bad that even though we had already paid for it, we did not eat it and had to go to another restaurant to eat."
Hotel 1915 Inn & Suites
"I stayed 3 nights at the hotel to meet nearby clients. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming even when I arrived quite late at night. The room was super clean, the mattress was perfect - just firm enough without being hard - and the shower always had hot water. The house is an absolute gem with lots of little nooks and crannies with comfortable seating and furnished in keeping with the historic setting. The breakfast was amazing: fresh juice, endless coffee, fresh fruit and a great plate of pinto with the works including a tiny homemade tortilla. No buffet here! Pleasant and prompt service with a smile and served in a little courtyard. Central location within a short walk of the Juan Santamaria Museum and park. I look forward to returning!"
Toucan Hostel
"My experience did not quite match the enthusiastic reviews left earlier here. I think it's fine as a cheap airport stopover place, with a few caveats. The main one: be sure you get the right room! I was given a room two doors down from the office and the entrance to the hotel and it was very noisy, especially as the walls are paper thin and there are large windows between rooms that have been covered with dark film for privacy but of course let a lot of sound through. Oh right: it was kinda warm also and only had a small fan to blow air in from the hallway for ventilation. When I asked to change rooms I was told the only other option was a bunk room. Having already paid (big mistake!) I thought I'd give it a go. After a while I realized there was no way I'd be able to sleep with the noise so I asked to cancel and for a refund. They said that was not possible and then finally said there was another open room upstairs so I moved to there. It was much better and had a quiet air conditioner, so things worked out. But it's worth noting that even upstairs in the better rooms you hear everything in the hallway so are likely to be woken up at times unless you sleep very soundly. Personally, I'd go for one of the similarly priced Airbnbs in Alueta next time, even as the Toucan is not unreasonable for what it is. Oh right: it is true that it's very clean, as others have said, so that's good!"

Villa Calas
"Nice hotel with friendly staff. Early checkin (30min) was possible and they stowed our luggage before. The Junior Suite was directly to the street, you hear noise all the night (also with closed windows). No flyscreen against Moskito. Fire place has no glass window. Hiking trails on the area. Nice big shower, small kitchen just with coffee maker and fridge. Some plates and cutlery would be nice, but we got it in the restaurant. Second bed very soft, pillows hard and soft to choose - good. You can choose breakfast from the menu. We can recommend it."
Hotel la Guaria Inn & Suites
"Excellent cost benefit"
El Rodeo Estancia Boutique Hotel & Steakhouse
"Lovely hotel, very clean and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Really enjoyed our stay and the pool was a great bonus! The steak house is also great!"
