"I never expected to find such comfortable accommodations in the old village. The owner brewed various teas for us, roasted sweet potatoes with us by the fire, and provided milk jugs and instant noodles—all free of charge. All the delicious food on the tea table was available for guests to eat as they pleased. It's the closest place to the ancient village, just a short walk away. Cooking utensils are provided so you can cook your own meals. Choosing a guesthouse is always a big decision when traveling, and I'm so glad I found one with such great value again. Thank you so much, owner! I'll probably come back next season, and it will definitely be the same place. I didn't get enough of it."
"This guesthouse is quite spacious, and there are many common areas where you can relax. It's a place brimming with local charm and warmth. The memory of us gathering around the living room table, drinking tea, singing, and chatting on the night we checked in became the most unforgettable part of my trip. It truly felt like my journey reached its perfect conclusion here.
The owners are exceptionally kind, laid-back, and welcoming. They even brewed tea for us and shared fascinating insights into Jingmai Mountain's tea culture and interesting stories about the village. The guesthouse also offers traditional Bulang ethnic costumes for guests to try on and take photos for free, which is a unique and beautiful touch – they even look like something you could wear every day, so I ended up buying a set from the owner.
Breakfast was served at the guesthouse, featuring freshly cooked specialty rice noodles that tasted amazing, along with local delicacies like honey cakes and sharp-cornered cakes, all healthy and delicious! What's more, both the guesthouse and the rooms offer fantastic views; you can wake up to a sea of clouds, which is incredibly therapeutic. Sipping tea in the lobby while taking in this stunning scenery is wonderfully calming and rejuvenating. I will definitely be back if I get the chance!"

PPinpinkuoI came from Taiwan on a solo trip after seeing a recommendation on Xiaohongshu. I took a bus from Shaxi to Dali at 9 am, then took the high-speed rail from Dali to Kunming and then to Pu'er. After a long bus ride over mountains, I arrived at the hotel at 8 pm. The warm and comfortable atmosphere of the hotel completely dispelled the hardships of the journey. It was a magical atmosphere. The hotel was very comfortable, and most of the guests were solo female travelers. It was easy to find travel buddies to share meals and make plans to travel to other places next time. Every night, the owner would brew Pu'er tea. I especially liked the unique glutinous rice black tea. While strolling around the hotel, the owner even took me on her little motorcycle to some hidden spots in the mountains to eat, drink, and take photos. In short, it was a wonderful place. When I left, I also took some of my favorite Pu'er tea home to share.
AAnonymous UserHaving seen many reviews about the poor hygiene, inadequate service, and lack of facilities at guesthouses in Jingmai Mountain, I had already lowered my expectations. However, the actual experience exceeded my expectations. They had all the disposable toiletries that hotels usually provide. The owners were incredibly kind, cooking free rice noodles for everyone every morning and inviting guests for tea. In the evenings, they would knock on the door and bring freshly grilled pork belly – it smelled amazing and was incredibly delicious! The guesthouse's location was also fantastic; you could see the sea of clouds right from the window, and it was very quiet at night. It was truly excellent value for money. The owners also sell tea, and I bought some to bring back as gifts for my family before leaving – the prices were very reasonable. Superb!
MMengruochenxi12In Jingmai Mountain, time isn't measured in hours, but in 'cups of tea.'
Staying here for two days felt like being cleansed by the mountain mists. I woke up to watch the sea of clouds spill over the tea plantations, spent afternoons on the terrace sipping tea and daydreaming, and in the evenings, watched the sunset paint the distant mountains gold. The room was spacious, and every window offered a picturesque view. The wellness experience here is wonderful—it's not a forced 'healing' but rather a natural process that helps you slow down.
The most unforgettable moment was a morning after the rain, with the air filled with the scent of tea and earth. In that instant, I felt that life is truly worth living.
BBugentuandetuanchangThe owners, a husband and wife, are very kind and helpful. They offered to help with parking and provided travel tips for nearby attractions. The soup for the breakfast noodles was slow-cooked by the owner's wife 🤫 The nearby attractions are all incredibly beautiful.
GGuest UserThe most satisfying hotel in Xishuangbanna + Pu'er travel accommodation!
The inn is with the tea factory. The hotel room is very large and clean, and there is an outdoor small yard.
Behind the inn is a small tea forest, climbing a small slope along the path, which is the inn's own viewing platform, you can see the sunrise and sunset, very convenient, the scenery is unexpectedly good.
The proprietress and the proprietress’s sister are beautiful and enthusiastic. When they arrived, they caught up with the local pig feast and invited us to participate. In the evening, there was a stove to make tea, roast sweet potatoes, tasted local oranges and peanuts. It was a very good experience of local culture.
Although it was with the tea factory, no one sold us tea throughout the whole process. Finally, I asked and bought some tea cakes. Black tea and white tea went back. They were all very delicious!
The hotel is located on the outermost side, there is a parking place, there are charging piles, except for the innermost stockade to be opened farther, everything else is great!
GGuest UserI really loved this hotel! It was so much cleaner than I expected, and you absolutely must book a balcony room. The view from the window was breathtaking – a sea of clouds! It was so comfortable! I'll definitely stay in Wengji for a few nights next time. I forgot to take pictures of the hotel, but the bathroom was very clean too. The owners were also incredibly kind and simple; I love Wengji Ancient Village!
GGuest UserIt's good that the homestay is right in the village. In the morning, all the roosters crow at sunrise. It's more pleasant than the noises made by cars driving past the road right under the window. The male receptionist doesn't have many words. The female receptionist made tea and chatted with us. The room was not cleaned and the necessities were not stocked daily. The window is tinted with green and made the view out of the window appears nicer in one section.
KKeaikelederenerI rarely write accommodation reviews, but this time I really want to give a shout-out 😊 Our stay at Guesthouse No. 56 in Wengji Ancient Village was exceptionally comfortable! The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft, and the view from the window was breathtaking – endless tea plantations and a sea of clouds. The owners, a husband and wife, are the same age as us and we had a lot to talk about. They sell tea and run a guesthouse, and even during the busy Chinese New Year period, they drove us around the sights for free, saving us the trouble of not knowing the roads and finding parking! They invited us to drink tea and chat, sharing our lives and experiencing authentic Bulang ethnic life. Although there was no breakfast, there were small shops nearby, which was very convenient. Wengji Ancient Village was our favorite of all the villages we visited in Jingmai Mountain, and I sincerely hope that no matter how long it goes on, it can maintain its simple and honest folk customs and touching scenery, and not be eroded by commercialization!
YYinyuezouqiThe location is great, right in the center of the village. You can enjoy the sea of clouds and sunset from the second-floor tea room without even leaving. It's very relaxing, and the staff's attitude is quite good.
However, there are a few drawbacks:
1. Although you can enjoy free tea in the second-floor tea room, it's a bit disappointing that there are no complimentary tea bags in the room. Even hotels not located in tea-producing regions usually provide tea bags in every room.
2. If the shower and toilet aren't separated, they should at least provide a pair of plastic slippers. Otherwise, wearing disposable slippers after a shower is very slippery and easy to trip. Not wearing any shoes isn't hygienic, especially since it's about 2 meters from the shower to the door.
GGuest UserThe girlfriends are together to eat, drink and stroll, travel on the staggered peak, Jingmai Mountain itinerary full score 💯 It’s right to have a rain, and it’s also right to have a sea of tea mountains and clouds! Staying at the famous hotel opened by Pu'er Tea Non-genetic inheritor Yuan Wen, the two families take care of it personally. The room is oversized and the twin bed can easily accommodate 4 people. The boss will soak in the homemade Pu'er every day to entertain guests from all over the world. The proprietress cooks good dishes. In the evening, the little brother and sister will roast corn sweet potatoes and make milk tea to talk to everyone around the stove. Although September is not the tea picking season, the tea picking experience can still participate. After the rain, the fresh air and various cicadas called to sweep the hustle and bustle of the city for two nights and three days. It was fleeting. The night before leaving, I was fortunate to taste the Iceland treasured by Master Yuwen. I returned to Gan, which was extraordinary! When I went down the mountain the next day, I rarely encountered the sea of clouds. Life is worth it! Looking forward to gathering again next time, I wish the homestay better and better!
