"This is the perfect place to stay before heading to the Perhentian Islands. The Kuala Besut Jetty is right in front of the hotel, and the Marriott ferry operates directly from here. The Assistant Manager, Nurfaruq Akamal Hanafiah, went above and beyond to resolve an issue we encountered. It was a minor hiccup caused by a slight miscommunication, but instead of brushing it off, he took the time to investigate thoroughly, explain the situation, and dedicate a significant amount of effort to finding a solution and compensation. Despite how busy the hotel must have been with so many guests, we felt as though we were receiving highly personalized service. My entire family praised his exceptional professionalism as a hotelier. Every time we visit, we are reminded of how genuinely kind and professional the staff are at both the Fairfield and Marriott Perhentian hotels. Furthermore, the restaurant manager at Marriott Perhentian happened to spot my son and me at the dining venue and remembered us from our visit a year ago. We had a wonderfully warm and friendly chat. It is truly thanks to the staff who welcome us like family every year that we keep deciding to return. We eagerly look forward to seeing everyone again next year!"

"It’s a beautiful place on the island. We had a sea view room. So comfortable, with the sea views. The breakfast was not bad for the island. The service was okay but not great enough. The price is friendly. We have been lucky enough to see the beautiful monkeys and lizards front of our balcony. It was unbelievable to see them in the garden. The bay is so clean and beautiful 🤩"

"The location is perfect at the beginning of the beach when you arrive. The beach outside the hotel had loads of different and beautiful fishes swimming. Even spotted black tip reef sharks. The staff were all wonderful a big shout out to Natasya and Nabela. They wear very helpful when trying to book the boat back. I would also like to say a big thank you to vishraja ( sorry if his name is wrong) he was my house keeper. He was really lovely and did a great job. I was in 226. Between the 29/7 to 2/7. Please thank him. Would definitely recommend staying here some lovely places to eat near by."

"I'll try to be objective. Choosing this hotel is a must if you arrive in Kuala Besut in the evening and need to travel further afield in the morning, perhaps to the islands, and you don't want to share accommodation with other guests, as is often the case in budget hostels. The hotel offers the bare minimum for a small price: an air-conditioned room, a toilet, and a shower in the room. What more could you need to spend the night in relative comfort and privacy? We arrived late in the evening. The receptionist greeted us very warmly, answered many of our questions, helped us with our morning transfer to the islands, and provided fresh towels and extra blankets (the room has a very powerful air conditioner). We were assigned a triple room on the ground floor. Contrary to reviews, there were no insects in it, even with the toilet window open. We didn't notice any strange odors. The linens weren't new, but they were clean. The beds were comfortable. The complimentary bottled water was a real welcome addition. Perhaps because this is a budget hotel, the staff doesn't pay attention to details like a faulty door lock and a dripping toilet faucet, but neither is a big deal. The soundproofing of the room door also leaves much to be desired – the sounds of other guests could be heard from the hallway, but we were so tired that they couldn't stop us. As for the wet floor in the toilet, well, there are slippers for that. We had dinner at a street restaurant a few steps from the hotel. In the morning, we bought some necessities at a local convenience store, stopped at a 7-Eleven, had breakfast at a coffee shop, and checked out. Our 50 MYR deposit was refunded without reservation. The 10 MYR "tourist fee" charged upon check-in remained unclear, but we didn't argue: if it's necessary, it's necessary—we hope this money will be used for important service development. It's worth noting that the hotel has two entrances: one, inconspicuous from the street, is located to the right of the garage doors under the hotel sign. The second, more respectable one, is on the opposite side of the building, where there's also parking."

"The room was okay in terms of cleanliness. However, upon arrival, I was greeted by a trail of ants running through the room. This was easily remedied with a little mosquito repellent spray on the doors; they apparently didn't want to come in through the huge gap. Unfortunately, the location is disastrous for light sleepers, as the local mosque is only about 50 meters away as the crow flies, and you are woken up loudly by the imam every single day between 5 and 5:30 a.m. To make matters worse, I had the misfortune of being placed on the second floor of the building facing the mosque, which amplified the noise level considerably, as there was virtually no soundproofing. For solo travelers, it's worth noting that getting from the Village to Long Beach (where there's a bit more going on) is extremely complicated, as you always have to pay for two people when traveling solo. So you have to constantly ask around to see if you can hop on an already full boat. The so-called "boardwalk" to Long Beach has deteriorated into an extremely difficult-to-walk and overgrown 45-minute "jungle walk" due to years of extreme weather and neglect by the residents. It's also not without its dangers, especially without proper footwear or in the dark. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all, it's better to book accommodation directly on Long Beach until significant improvements are made in all areas."

"I wanna give some information about the garden villa and ocean villa, garden villa is way better than ocean villa , it has private yard, it’s a little far from the lobby for more privacy and peace, but ocean villa is near the restaurant and it’s not private, the residence of gardens villa should pass by ocean villas to get to their room and it’s not even beach front, it doesn’t have private yard so the guests couldn’t open the curtains and use the view 🫣it should be half price of garden villa but it’s more expensive 😑 the toilet and bathroom doesn’t have door but has view to garden. The stuff are great. 👍🏼 The food is the best in the island but totally is average. Snorkeling with firus was amazing.😝 Everything is perfect, I highly recommend this villa.🫶🏻"

"The hotel's facilities are quite old and not well-maintained. Its biggest selling point is the long, beautiful white sand beach right outside the hotel. To the left of the pier, there are many beautiful fish and marine life among the reefs, making it perfect for relaxing and unwinding. However, the room facilities are very poor, essentially on par with an old, small hotel. The hotel pool water was also very dirty and felt completely unmaintained. "We arrived early in the morning, knowing I had booked the room for the previous night. Upon arrival, they had rented our room to someone else, even though I had paid for the last night – scandalous! They made us wait two hours for them to clean it. I paid €250 for a night, only to find the bathroom stank of urine, mold on the walls, and no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the lobby!! A word of advice: don't sit on the sofas, they're full of cockroaches. Go to Long Beach, it'll be better!!"
