Outstanding
GGuest UserThe resort location is accessible actually by bus from tateno 立野 station and the last bus is in the evening you may check the timetable online. We did not drive and leaving the accommodation is less convenient because all taxis were booked out but the staff was very friendly as to driving us to the nearby train station to continue our journey to Aso Volcano.
Service was good. The private onzen was amazing and we were able to use it for one hour. The public bath was good too but the amenities they provided inside were not as enough, eg they don't have comb for ladies and make up removing pads. Other than that, cleanliness was amazing and staff were friendly, rooms had amazing Mountain View's.
EElinaNikThis is the best hotel in Kurokawa!
1. Stuff is kindly meet you, explain everything and help as well as it possible.
2. Ryokan has 6(!) private bathes with different style. No extra payment,, no reservation. You can available status on your TV. During my staying there was at least one ready for use, no time all of them was using.
3. Water. Just perfect, has a right temperature and composition. Just put yourself into the bath and feel relaxed just since that second.
4. Rooms. Clean and fresh.
5. Open-air bath is cool to, for me a bit too hot. And I was the only one who use it during the dinner time.
6. I had only breakfast, but it is service in private room in dinner hall. Very delicious with various of dishes.
7. The hotel located at two sides of the river. Travelers could enjoy a scenic view from the bridge.
CChuck ChuangI love the interior of this resort. The staff members are really friendly and helpful. I had little knowledge in selecting local onsen resort, so my initial expectation was not high. Much to my surprise, I love everything this hotel has had. Facility wise everything looks brand new. The room is spacious and comfy. The public bath and indoor onsen are big and clean.
As for the meals, the presentations were good and they were delicious. I have no complaint about it. Keep up with the good work. Look forward to staying there again.
GGuest UserI stayed here with my parents. We had separate rooms and booked this room for them. It was new, well-equipped, and wonderful. It was a very cold day, but the heating in the room and the semi-open-air bath in the room were warm, so it seemed comfortable for my elderly parents. The staff were also very courteous. Although I didn't book this room, the room type we stayed in was cold, as the heating in the semi-open-air bath and the room didn't work very well. If you're staying during the cold season, I think it's better to choose a D-type room or higher. I would like to visit again during the better seasons.
GGuest Userwonderful ryokan, we had a river view from the window. delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast. totally recommend!
tattoo-friendly onsen, but the showers are only on the first floor. the private outdoor rooftop onsen does not have a shower, so it’s better to shower downstairs first; otherwise, it can be quite chilly to rinse yourself outside using the buckets.
there is free parking, but the street itself is very narrow and busy with pedestrians; the ryokan staff can help with parking. the staff warned us about the parking situation in advance and advised leaving the car at a free parking lot in the village center, but there were no spaces available.
LLavendar_girlThe room is a bit old, but the cleanliness is acceptable.
There is no shower room in the room, only hot spring water can be showered directly on the terrace. On cold days, I have to go to the public toilet to shower.
Check out time is 10am, which is a bit too early.
Dinner is very sumptuous👍🏻
Location: The entrance is not very obvious. If you check in at night, be careful. Google will take you to the Netherlands... It is recommended that the entrance sign be more obvious.
The overall value for money is good👍🏻
GGuest UserFrom entering the parking lot everything is taken care of, the rooms are enormous, the size of and amenities of a decently sized appartment along with a large kitchen and finally a private onsen fit for two people right next to the beautiful Kurokawa onsen river, aswell as a small waterfall creating an absolutely dreamy experience. The Ryokan is a about a five minutes walk outside the city center which is absolutely no problem as you have everything you need there.
The gentleman in the reception speaks decent English so even with no japanese knowledge you should be fine
They only seem to have four rooms, we got lucky and booked two days ahead, but most likely won't be that lucky.
Absolutely would go again, great experience
AAnonymous UserI strongly recommend spending a little more to stay at the main building during winter. The rooms are spacious, and the 500+ RMB price including breakfast and dinner for one person is good value, but these are probably the only two advantages.
Disadvantages are as follows:
① The room's air conditioning is inadequate and leaks air, making it difficult to warm up. The bathroom is in a separate cubicle, so it's extremely cold due to the air conditioning and the leaking air; I was shivering while brushing my teeth and using the toilet at night.
② The assigned room has a sliding door that's difficult to close and lock. The entrance hall is too small to fit luggage, so you have to carry it into the room, which may explain why the bamboo mat isn't very clean.
③ The women's bath in the annex is very small, and the changing room's air conditioning is weak, making it easy to catch a cold. Although you can use the main building's bath, it's cold in the room at night, let alone going out.
④ There's no elevator, and the front desk doesn't help with luggage like they do at Misato or the main building, where they deliver luggage to your room. However, considering the price, this is acceptable.
In short, it's not bad value for money, but if you're on vacation, it's not worth suffering for the sake of saving money. The experience might be better in spring, summer, and autumn when it's not so cold.
GGuest UserThe room was spacious. It was my first time staying in a dome-shaped room, and it was very comfortable.
The buffet had a lot to choose from, so I was able to eat healthy food.
There were a lot of people, so we had to wait a little, but it wasn't a problem.
The surrounding facilities were also well-equipped, so we were able to use the various relaxation spaces. I'd like to go again.
GGuest UserThe main plus this location , if you want to be quiet alone with nature ... Early in the morning even the deer breakfasted opposite our terrace 🦌 The common swimming pools were very much liked , the water was hot as you wanted . The room in Japanese style was taken and it corresponds to the mood , I wanted to enter Japanese culture . The hotel owners helped us in this 🙏 All staff very kind . Food is very delicious , for two nights different menus . Thank you the chef of the chef 🙏 It was my birthday and I spent a great time . The Recan fulfilled our expectations 💫
