GGuest UserWe stayed here and n 25/04/2024
This resort catered for local thai people, all writings are in thai including the resort name
Bfast also all thai local breakfast.
Resort stay prices is also for local thai. Not expensive.
Only thing to complain is the toilet.
The shower is in a fix position. So when on the water, sprayed all over including the area outside of the water catchment area.
Which is dangerous ( slippery ) for seniors like me.
The manager in charge should looks into this matter.
Thank you.
CCapt,JomThe rooms are comfortable and quiet. Convenient parking. Easy to find things to eat. Near the Diamond Market. There is a car service to the parking lot.
GGuest UserBear and Bird Hotel: A Budget-Friendly Stay with Room for Improvement
The Bear and Bird Hotel in Surat Thani offers good value for money in a central yet quiet location. Many guests appreciate the spacious, clean rooms (especially the Japanese-style ones) and the nice pool. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, and free parking is a plus.
However, as a newly opened establishment, the hotel is still a work in progress. Some guests have noted musty smells in standard rooms and dated or problematic bathrooms. Despite these quirks, if you're looking for an affordable base in Surat Thani and can overlook some minor imperfections, the Bear and Bird Hotel could be a suitable choice.
CCraig DickCBD2 was very good overall, the room was clean spacious and had a great view of the river and city. Stuff for excellent they carried our bags up to our room and answered any questions we had. This hotel was perfect for us because we had a car so it was a short, five minute drive across the river into the middle of the city where the markets and restaurants were. Price was good so I would recommend this hotel.
GGuest UserAll together it is a friendly place. What you can see: it's not very new and some of the matresses a quiet hard. View is not great, but it's close to the night Market in close to all kinds of Shops. Also to come to the river is very close by and it is very nice to go there in the evening. Also woman you can even participate in some public gymnastics near the River. For a short stay it is definitely a place worth the. money
AAlex 70Our family stayed at this hotel for one night on our way from Koh Samui to Bangkok. We really liked the hotel. The staff were very friendly. We were checked into a standard room on the first floor. It seemed to have been recently renovated. The room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and we could easily adjust the temperature settings. The plumbing fixtures were new. The hotel has its own large parking lot. There's also a swimming pool at the hotel shaded by trees, but we chose to swim at the neighboring 'Rice Farm' hotel instead. Their pool was well-warmed by the sun, and we could sunbathe while enjoying views of the rice fields. Both hotels share the same owner. We were pleased with the low price for a good stay, and breakfast (Thai or American) was included. Across the road from the hotel is a large Tesco Lotus shopping center, and a 7-Eleven is just a 10-minute walk away. We had dinner at a roadside cafe, which served delicious and inexpensive dishes. Overall, we really liked the hotel and recommend it for a stopover before an early morning flight from Surat Thani to Bangkok.
LlaosnewhorizonsA Fading Gem with a Fantastic Breakfast
The Wang Tai Hotel feels like a grand dame from a bygone era. Walking into the lobby, you can see it was once a truly luxurious place, and that sense of scale and history is still there. However, it's clear the hotel is in need of a bit of a makeover. While everything is clean, the decor and some furnishings feel a little tired and dated.
That minor point aside, our stay was very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, always going out of their way to assist us.
The breakfast, however, was a wonderful and unexpected highlight! Instead of a standard buffet, it's ordered a la carte from a menu. Don't let that worry you the range is huge, covering both Thai and Western options. Everything we ordered was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. It felt more like a restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast.
The large swimming pool is a major plus – perfect for a refreshing dip and lounging in the sun. The location is also very good, making it a convenient base for exploring Surat Thani.
In summary, if you can look past the slightly worn edges, The Wang Tai Hotel offers incredible value, spearheaded by a stellar breakfast, great pool, and excellent service. A little refurbishment would easily make this a 5-star experience again.
