"Lovely hotel but the food was lacking"

"We booked this accommodation for June 23 to 27 2025. Because my wife had an accident we we had to cancel the reservation two months before the arrival. We had free cancellation for 14 days . In the bookings mail we had to cancel by a link, apparently it did not work. We heard nothing of the booking anymore until 23 juni, they asked if we I contacted the accommodation and explained te situation. We did not used their accomodation at all, so they had no cleaning or costs for taxes, water and electricity. I asked if the would give us a refund from the amount (a part) that they booked from my creditcard: € 758,00! We did not get anything back, not even a part. I would give everybody the advice not to book directly at the accommodation."

"We had such a wonderful time staying at Hotel Jardim do Atlântico for two weeks during the Christmas holidays! It’s in the peaceful Prazeres area, and there are plenty of hiking trails to explore. Whether you’re up for the tough Paul do Mar stair descent and climb back up, or you prefer the easy but fun levada walks nearby, there’s something for everyone. The views are spectacular! The hotel’s food was delicious and had something for everyone’s palate. The staff at the desk were always so helpful, and our rooms were always nicely made up each day. As locals, we decided to treat ourselves to a peaceful staycation and we were so happy with our choice. Thanks so much for making our stay so memorable!"

"Very nice hotel, kind and helpful staff, great view, good food, spa (sauna and Turkish bath). Perfect for a few days of rest. Only two disadvantages were the taste of coffee for breakfast (only instant coffee) and not very thick walls (you can hear the neighboring rooms a bit). Paid parking lot (0,80 EUR/h, from 8 am to 7 pm - in the street, 10 EUR/day - parking garage in the building opposite the hotel), but you can always park for free about 500 m from the hotel, in the upper part of town."

"We had a pleasant time at this location, though my expectations were higher. Let me start with the positives. We stayed in the yellow house (Bicca). It was a wonderfully spacious place for four people, with a lovely view and a well-equipped kitchen. Breakfast supplies are also fine. The view and the garden are beautiful, and the pool is great too. You can park your car on a private parkingspace next to the reception. The downsides, for us, lay in the minimal contact with the hosts. Over the course of our four-night stay, we exchanged perhaps ten sentences (including check in and out). No one ever asked if everything was to our liking or if we had any questions. The system involving the logbook at reception is very cumbersome. If you want clean towels of a cleaning of the house, you have to note it down there, and they arrive the next day; the same applies if you run short of anything (but unsure at what time of when). This makes it difficult to coordinate things, such as for your day of departure. We got the impression—partly due to the limited English proficiency—that direct questions were not welcome. In addition, the Wi-Fi in the yellow house isn't good—there’s only a signal in one small upstairs bedroom—and we had an issue with (a lot of) ants in the kitchen. The location is great for visiting western Madeira, the peaceful atmosphere at the house is lovely (though perhaps less suitable for teenagers), and the décor is really beautiful. We didnt use the honesty bar for we do not drink alcohol, and the snacks were too expensive. So, unfortunately we didn't find the experience particularly customer-oriented or welcoming that we expected on forehand."

"We have 4 nights stay in boutique hotel jardim do mar. We enjoyed a great deal, we were delicious to sleep, breakfast and dinner was delicious, staff very helpful and friendly. Good service. Jardin do mar is fun to stay. The hotel is really a recommender."
