"We stayed for a few nights in one of the Privilege rooms. Hotel is a quick pleasant walk across the river bridge to the main part of town. At least one of the owners is a native English speaker, so no issues with communication. Very friendly and they have a room you can keep bags in during the day if needed. Pros: Very cute decorating and a big room. Nice minisplit and nice courtyard between the room and front hotel area. Cons: No bathroom fan, nowhere to put soap in shower (there are dispensers on the wall though), drape was not wide enough to fully cover the window opening. We paid for the reserved parking but thought it was kind of a ripoff as it's quite a walk south down the street. There's free street parking about the same distance away that never looked completely full so in the future I'd probably try that instead of prepaying for their parking lot. Maybe if there's an event in town it'd be worth paying for their parking."

"Spacious room with a very comfortable large bed. A large bathroom with window. A nice hotel seen from the outside with a closed parking lot. Breakfast for 9 euros. Very good for a 2 star hotel located in Chinon to discover the city, the wines and the castles."

"Warm welcome and check-in by a very kind gentleman. Medium-small sized room with dated but well-preserved furniture. Our friends' room was very small, without a wardrobe and the shower was "closed" by a curtain! So be careful which room you are assigned. Comfortable bed. Clean rooms even if there was a constant "stale" smell in the room, probably due to the carpet. Bathroom needs fixing in some details such as the shower head was not still, it slipped downwards, some chipped tiles, etc. Shampoo and shower gel given with an eyedropper. No hair dryer in the room. Only sweet foods for breakfast. Sore point especially for older people: no lift and a narrow wooden spiral staircase. Positive: free private parking. Overall good value for money."

"For what we wanted this hotel met our needs. A 10 minute stroll into the main town wasn’t an issue and was an easy pleasant walk. For the 3 nights we were there the room was clean, well maintained with beds made every day and towels replaced each day. A balcony allowed us to sit outside. Don’t book expecting 5 star luxury but the manager and staff were always on hand to help and went out of their way to do so. Breakfast was what we expected with enough choice, all food was good quality. Don’t expect a full cooked breakfast."

"Great find with a very welcoming host who is generously sharing his house with you. Interesting and quirky décor but very comfortable (the size of our room was fabulous). Fantastically situated in the centre of Chinon. Anyone who knows the lovely town will recall that parking is not easy. The Relais has a garage but we found the best option was to find a parking space about 100m away and ask for the card at the Relais which gives you free parking. Highly recommended all round!"
