Argus Hotel Darwin ★★★

📍 13 Shepherd St, Darwin

"Good value for money. The room was clean and comfortable. Parking is available for an additional fee, but I didn't mind paying the extra cost. Overall, a pleasant stay."

Mindil Beach Casino Resort ★★★★★

📍 Mindil Beach, Gilruth Ave, Darwin City, The Gardens

"We were downgraded our room and not told until checking in that our booked room was u available due to renovations. It was clear the renovations have been underway for a long time and they could have let us know well in advance. 2 different friends were upgraded to a lagoon room room. We were downgraded to twin beds in a very rundown room. There is no power beside the bed. The power is inconveniently on the other side of the room. It was not until leaving that the bed moved and we found an outlet behind the bed. You would need to pull the bed away from the wall to allow for your charging sockets to be plugged in. There is no headboard to keep pillows on the bed, so it needs to be against the wall. The bathroom was terribly. Chipped tiles, chipped door and frame, worn bathtub with spots of enamel missing, a rusted bin. No car parking was available we were told because it was a Saturday night. Not sure that matters when we booked months in advance. Also not when we saw all the empty spots in the hotel carpark the next morning. Unacceptable accommodation for the cost. We attended a function at the casino, so and the location was convenient. But that was all. If we knew the room would be so dilapidated, we would have stayed at nearby Cullen Bay and uber down the hill. The staff did not care that we had booked in advance. They didn’t care we were part of a function that had spent a lot of money at their venue. The breakfast and drink was understandable, but the lack of communication was totally unacceptable. The falsely took bookings from 3 different people in our function group who did not get the rooms they booked due to renovations. Oh, and the critters are cute but out at night time, foraging outside the hotel doors."

"The hotel was extremely poor value for money. The room facilities were old and damp. There was no restaurant in the hotel, and breakfast was provided by a restaurant next door. The staff were rude. Overall, it was a very bad experience!"

"Booked this apartment fora family trip for the Xmas period. Check in was streamline and straightforward. Apartment was clean & roomy. One the second day we noticed aircon in main bedroom and one of the other bedrooms weren’t working and apartment was becoming stuffy as a result. We reported to reception however as it was Xmas eve we knew it was unlikely to be resolved until after the public holidays however we were able to use an adjacent apartment and eventually we were requested to move to the adjacent apartment. It was a slight inconvenience but we moved as we needed working air cons. The air cons in new apt were noisy and external fan on balcony did not work ( & was fixed a couple of days later). Clearly they need to do maintenance checks more often as air cons & fans not working in the tropics isn’t ideal. Reception staff were friendly & attentive."

"The view is good, and while the room isn't very spacious overall, the kitchen facilities are quite complete, though their quality is just so-so. There were cockroaches in the room; I found two at night. The 10 AM check-out is a bit early. Parking is convenient."

"Location was perfect however we weren't aware that the pool area was out of service for the duration of our stay and being in Darwin we would have booked elsewhere if we knew prior. Price was good though. If your a smoker the only smirking area was out the front of the hotel with nothing but an ashtray."

"There's no price competition in the area. For the price, it's a disaster. The windows probably haven't been cleaned since new, and the bedsheets are torn."
