The room was spacious (we were in number 10) with a sitting area and desk for those who require to do work ... the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was top notch ... we ordered Steak and Ale Pie, which was delicious and Fish and Chips (asked for them to leave off the fresh/mushy peas) ... the fish was enormous, fresh and very tasty ... the fries/chips were homemade. All in all, we would highly recommend The George."

"Lovely pub meal, really pleasantly surprised after some not so good meals in other family pubs. Gorgeous chips and lovely fish. I am fussy and this was the best fish n chips I have had for ages. Even my fussy 6 year old cleared his plate. Friendly helpful staff. Really enjoyed our meal on a Tuesday Evening in half term. Sorry to the diners nearby as our kids were quite rowdy and noisy!"

"The village of Huby is just North of York, it’s a quiet place and just about the ideal location for anyone visiting York or the surrounding area. The New Inn is sited just behind the Cantonese restaurant on the Main Road, it’s well signposted and parking is available just outside the Motel. It is so quiet here it was just perfect for my visit. I can see it being suitable for visitors of all ages. The rooms are modern and really well thought out. WiFi is exceptional as the local phone signal for the whole village is not the best. Everything was provided for, with tea and coffee as well as a packet or two of biscuits on arrival. A large flat screen TV in the corner with Netflix, YouTube etc. as well. I can’t recommend staying here highly enough, I’ll certainly be visiting again."

"A wonderful treat for my 74th birthday. Wonderful warm welcome from Andy and the cats. Excellent accommodation and welcome pack. The prosecco was very much appreciated. An excellent breakfast choice ( I have to have gluten free food) which was delicious and filling. It was great to watch the birds, including a woodpecker, feeding in the garden. Nothing was a trouble. A brilliant stay. Thanks"

"Stayed at the Ivy Cottage for 2 nights, I can honestly say the bed on the top floor was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in, in our life's. We nearly resorted to sleeping on the floor and could have left after the first night. Overall the furniture in the cottage needs updating to make it a more comfortable stay for future guests. The sofa in the living room is like a sack of spuds, the dining chairs in the kitchen are wooden and so uncomfortable. Dined at The Durham Ox, it was a shame the staff couldn't have been more friendlier and welcoming, the food was only average, nothing special. I personally would not recommend a stay at the cottage, or a visit to the pub, on the basis of the lack of comfort at the cottage, lack of hospitality and only average food. I am sorry to write a negative review, but do I feel the cottage needs money spending on it, to counter the price charged."
