"The location is perfect. Alternative parking was offered if needed, which it was not as we parked in the front of The George. The room was spacious (we were in number 10) with a sitting area and desk for those who require to do work ... the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was top notch ... we ordered Steak and Ale Pie, which was delicious and Fish and Chips (asked for them to leave off the fresh/mushy peas) ... the fish was enormous, fresh and very tasty ... the fries/chips were homemade. All in all, we would highly recommend The George."

We ate in the restaurant on the evening, the food was fabulous. Breakfast the following morning was just as good! Would recommend this lovely little place and would definitely stay here again :) "

"From the moment we arrived, after a tricky drive, the owners made us so very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble - and they were a fount of local and historical knowledge, about the house itself and the surroundings. Our room (The Lady Amelia Room) was equipped with everything we could want - the weather was awful so we spent longer in it than most guests would and appreciated its comfort. Breakfast was delicious - especially the Eggs Benedict - and dinner simple but well cooked and presented. There is a new "treatment" room where I had a soothing and professional massage from a local (excellent!) therapist. We left thoroughly chilled, relaxed and looking forward to returning."

"Well, where to start, a beautiful home with lovely rooms and exceptional hosts. A good hearty breakfast overlooking the garden, before heading out towards the Howardian Hills for a walk. We stayed for two nights, walking to the pub in the next village on the first night before staying cosy in our room on the second night. The night just got better when the wonderful antipasti board, complete with a bottle of wine arrived at our door. Andy delivered the humongous tray of delights, complete with the home made chutney, the cucumber chutney is to die for! Quite simply don’t walk, run to Newburgh House!"
